Owl’s Rest is in a very peaceful spot wished we could have stayed longer. Our hosts Jill and Peter were delightful and very welcoming. The only drawback was we didn’t realise quite how far it was from Picton.
We loved this property. It is in a rural setting and close to the sounds for exploring. The studio room was very cutely furbished and had everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean. We also enjoyed meeting Jill and Pete.

Fabulous guests - they would be welcome here again any time. Although next time I would hope the sun would come out for them!
Our overwhelming delight was the help that Peter gave us in taking our bikes off the carrier and later putting them back on again when we left. Despite being attached to their home we hardly aware of the presence of Jill and Peter - very relaxing. We enjoyed the presence of owls everywhere we looked in the room.

Allison and Ian were delightful guests. They were close to family staying a short distance away and were clearly enjoying their time so much, coming back to Owls Rest to rest. Lovely people and the unit was left spic and span. They would be welcome here at any time.

Great spot at the end of the Queen Charlotte Sound. Clean unitt and very peaceful.
We have thought about how to best review this property. We were concerned to see a All Welcome Vaxed and Unvaxed sign from the Freedom of Rights Coalition on the front door. Had we known that before booking we would of chosen not to stay at this accommodation as even though we are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 I have a health condition that makes me vulnerable to serious illness should I get Covid.
Also the teas and chocolates provided were 5 years past their best by date. Fortunately we had taken our own supplies..
Although it's a great location we would not stay there again.

We thank Maxine for her review. Maxine and Peter were pleasant guests to have at Owls’ Rest, appeared to have a great time enjoying their outdoor activities. They left the unit clean and tidy. Maxine did make a comment about our signage on arrival however choose to enter our accommodation. At this point we could have had a conversation and, given her circumstances, we would have gladly refunded her accommodation charges. There had been an earlier opportunity to raise this issue as I spoke to Maxine to discuss their booking on the phone several days before their arrival. As accommodation providers we are not mandated and it is our wish to give both vaxxed and vaccine free guests a lovely holiday experience. Peter requested to plug in his electric/hybrid vehjcle on arrival and this was connected to our power source for approx. 18 hours without charge. We felt it reasonable to request a monetary contribution should they wish to charge their vehicle a second time (as is standard practice). We have fresh tea (bags and leaf) a coffee machine with fresh pods along with several varieties and the chocolates were purchased at the Warehouse in Nelson on 23 December. The unit is thoroughly cleaned to Covid.19 standards with two people spending two hours each per visit with every surface receiving attention.
Friendly helpful hosts, private self contained unit on side of main house with partial kitchen. Lovely views from garden, I watched a falcon patrol near pastures.

Miranda was a lovely guest. The unit was left very tidy and clean and it was just a shame the weather wasn't a lot better for their stay. They would be welcome to stay again at any time.
