We look forward to your visit to The Cabin on Amelia. In the heart of Central Minnesota’s lake country you will find the perfect place to enjoy a getaway with family and friends with something for everyone!

Lake Amelia is a 934 acre spring-fed lake with great water clarity. It is Pope County’s second deepest lake with a depth of 69 feet at its deepest point. The lake has something to offer for everyone. The public access is directly across the lake for your watercraft. Lake Amelia is perfect for swimming, fishing and water sports. The dock and lake shore shed are yours to use during your stay. You will enjoy fishing off the dock for pan fish and the occasional bass. The game fish sit on the edge of the drop-off very close to The Cabin. Just south of Amelia on State Highway 28 you will find a 24 hour bait shop.

The Cabin on Amelia is a year around rental, located on a beautifully landscaped hill. With 150 feet of shoreline it has fantastic views of the lake and stunning sunsets. Our large yard is perfect for yard games and includes a swing set for the kids. Have fun on the lake with 2 paddle boards, 2 single kayaks, a paddle boat and a canoe available onsite during your stay. Enjoy outdoor seating on the lakeside with beautiful views. At the end of the day you will find that there is plenty of room around the fire pit to relax, roast marshmallows and tell fish stories.

Our home is really 2 cabins in 1! It consists of TWO 3 bedroom cabins separated by a 1200 sq. ft. common room. This area has two screened porches… one for relaxing with a good book or good company and one of which boasts a Foosball table, multi-use game table and large stand-up freezer. We also have a collection of board and yard games, something for everyone! The sunken living area is set up with a bar, refrigerator, electronic dartboard, Bluetooth enabled portable stereo, a large seating area and a big screen “smart” television with DVD player, Direct TV and Netflix. FREE Wi-Fi is included. You will have all of the room you need and plenty to do indoors and out!
Each side of the cabin has 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen and living room with fireplace for cool evenings. The North side has two bathrooms, 2 king size beds, a crib, 2 bunk beds and a pull-out couch. The South side has one bathroom, 2 king size beds and a full size bed. Laundry facilities can be found on both sides. The Cabin sleeps 16 comfortably with 20 max. Each kitchen is fully equipped, bedrooms are supplied with plenty of comfortable bedding and each bath is equipped with towels for your indoor use.

Just a few hours drive from the Twin Cities your vacation will begin! From Alexandria, it will take you about 20 minutes to reach the northern shore of Lake Amelia. Located in Pope County, the lake is about 4 miles northeast of Glenwood. Villard is just a few miles away. These communities are home to many wonderful parks, lakes, recreational areas, shopping and community events. What could be better than going to The Cabin!

Fun Summer Getaway

The Cabin on Amelia is great for large groups, with ample space! Lake was great for water sports, we caught many different species of fish. We loved the backyard for yard games and for the lake view!

Lake Amelia 2024

The house was very spacious, clean, well equipped and stocked with everything needed to make it very comfortable stay. The lot is large and the neighborhood is quiet. Our family greatly enjoyed this facility and the lake. We had a relaxing, memorable week. The owners were easy to reach and answered any questions promptly. This is a great place for a family vacation.

Memories made at TCOA

We found the cabin clean and well appointed. Space was extraordinary and accommodated our family of 13 perfectly. Host and hostess were available via text and responded quickly to a couple questions I had—check in and check out well documented. Memories made as children caught perch, sunnies and rock bass off dock, played and swam on private beach on property and enjoyed swing set. Memories made for adults swimming, fishing, playing games on porch and having such a beautiful space to be together.

Wonderful Beach

The house had ample room and we liked having the two complete kitchens which gave us plenty of fridge room and made meal prep a breeze. We had so much fun with the dart game, foosball table and big gathering area. The beach was really nice and we had a blast on the lily pad, paddle boat, and other toys. The fire pit was a big hit too as we ate smores and shared lots of laughs and stories as we watched the fires. Maren was very helpful and accommodating and we appreciated her kindness also.

Family reunion

We could not have created a better “home” to have our family reunion in. The two original houses that have been combined into one, with a huge living room connecting them, made it a blast! You move around easily, be social or have down time, cook amazing family meals, play games, have a dance in the living room or play outside. The 6 bedrooms and the pullout couches were all extremely comfortable and made a an easy nights rest. And the hosts were easy to contact and very helpful with any questions.

Amazing get away!

This place was incredible! Plenty of room for our 10 to 11 and we could’ve had many more. Plenty of space for us to be together, or to wander off for a private conversation as well. The water was clear and beautiful and the way the dock is set up and beach easy in and out with all of the fun water toys. Everything was very clean. There were plenty of towels and accessories. We had everything we needed and more. Thank you so much for sharing the space with us. It was a wonderful time for all!

Great place for large family getaway!

The cabin is roomy, yet cozy. The two sides works well for our family, allowing time together, and yet space to get away if you want. We enjoyed the paddleboards and paddleboat. The kids loved the playset, and we were able to sit around the campfire two evenings. The dartboard is a fun extra. We LOVE the extra freezer and fridge. Makes it easy to bring prepared meals and have a place to store them. The caretaker is friendly and very helpful if you have any questions. Our second trip here. We hope to return again!

Amazing home for entertaining groups!

I hosted a hosted a reunion with 16 college friends, and everyone commented that they were amazed by how perfect the cabin was for our get together. With two kitchens, a bar, foosball, darts, a poker table, three TVs, and plenty of inviting spaces to hang out, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Our group went up during the winter. The yard and lake provided a great areas to play in the snow, and the house was well-heated. The bedrooms were all very comfortable as well. Overall, this is an A+ cabin. Highly recommended for anyone looking to host a fun out of town gathering.

Perfect Place for Family

We treated our son and daughter and their families for some lake time and family time. The space was perfect for everyone to find their favorite thing to do. We played Darts, kayaking, paddle boarding, bonfire with s’mores with the wood and marshmallow forks provided, ping pong, built sandcastles, saw beautiful sunsets, and played board games at night. We grilled and cooked having two kitchens to use! There was nothing missing from this beautiful lake space! Comfy furniture, big tables for family style eating! Almost forgot about the Foosball! We laughed and ate and played hard!

Great location with an interesting and spacious layout

This was a great home. I hosted a 13 person board gaming retreat here and everyone had a great time. The large common area was great for random chatting and playing party games. The 2 dining room tables provided a good amount of space for gaming and having 2 kitchens was more useful than anticipated. The 3 season porch could have been good in the summer, but it never quite warmed up enough (even with space heaters) to be usable for much in January. My only real complaint is that some of the furniture and lighting is odd/old. Though I was told as we were leaving that it was in the plan to be replaced this year. So assuming that I can keep getting 10-15 people to follow me into rural Minnesota to play board games in the middle of winter, we will be back next year.

Awesome time...upon arriving, we kept getting lost in the house. That's how spacious it was! I did find out later there is a trick to the main kitchen island lights. Very clean and amenities were great.

Wonderful getaway!

The Cabin on Amelia is simply amazing!! The home layout was great for our group, a mix of young children and adults, so the kids could go to sleep early on the north side and the adults could play games on the south side. The cabin is impeccable, very clean, extremely well organized and thoughtfully prepared for guests. We plan to stay here again!!!!!

Perfect for large families or friend group!

I was so surprised and impressed by this cabin! The layout is awesome for larger groups. Our kids took over one side, giving them space and even their own kitchen! They loved it. So much to do on the lake with all the water toys, tons of life jackets and like is beautiful and clean. This place has everything you could want, we had a blast! The owner was extremely accommodating and responsive. Book it, you won't regret it!

Great Family Get-away

Our extended family had a great time at the Cabin on Amelia. The space is perfect for multiple families. Everything you could ever need for a cabin get-away was available for your use. The kids loved playing in the sand and with all of the small watercraft. Adults too! There are plenty of indoor activities for those not-so-perfect weather days too. Maren was easy to work with also. It was a breeze to plan. Thank you for great memories.

Fantastic Weekend

I’ve had some good experiences with VRBO cabins, but this is one of the best ones. The owner was a great communicator and had so many suggestions for us to keep busy. The cabin was beautiful and provided a truly great weekend!

We are the Ettesvold Family! Though our rental on Lake Amelia is new, our time on Lake Amelia has been a life time! My husband and I grew up in Granite Falls, MN. Friends and family brought us to Lake Amelia and from that moment we were hooked! In 1997 we moved to Phoenix, AZ and missed lake time so much. We purchased a cabin just down the way in 2003 and sold it in 2013. After building a cabin in the White Mountains of Arizona, we found ourselves missing the cabin and our time on the lake.

Why they chose this property

Our goal for the cabin ultimately has always been to bring people together and build relationships! We met the previous owners of The Cabin on Amelia (La Quinta) years ago and we always thought it would be perfect cabin to bring people together and make memories. Fast forward to spring of 2015 - we found this cabin for sale. Perfect timing!

What makes this property unique

Our home is unique for so many reasons! 2 kitchens, 2 dining rooms and 2 laundry rooms (2 sets of front loading washers and dryers) is one of the biggest advantages. The rec room in the middle of the home is so perfect for adults and children alike. Have people who want to go to bed early? No problem, the home is large enough to accommodate that and still have a lively get together on the other side! {Unfortunately we do not host bachelor or bachelorette style parties}
