Forth River Cottage - Luxury Bed and Breakfast by the River
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We will get there someday” AA Milne
Five Star accommodation, with complimentary breakfast, on the banks of the Forth River in North West Tasmania. Ideal for one or two adults, Forth River Cottage is located 10 minute drive from Devonport and 1 hr from Cradle Mountain. Private, peaceful and designed for the most discerning traveller. Leave your worries behind as you take in the flowing river, the sunsets and green pastures. You won’t want to leave!
All of your comforts are catered for - luxury bed linen, towels and Tasmanian bathroom products along with the conveniences of a washing machine, free wi-fi and widescreen satellite television.
Star gaze as you soak in the claw foot bath on the deck beside the river or sit beside the roaring fire pit overlooking the river, perfect for enjoying a mulled wine or hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows.
There is a local convenience store and bottle shop close by for those last minute essentials. Or maybe a walk to the local organic café or hotel for a meal of your choice.
In the morning, enjoy our complimentary breakfast. This includes fresh eggs from our chickens, locally produced bacon and a selection of fruits and grains. We will gladly cater for all dietary requirements upon request. Enjoy a brew of quality T2 tea or an espresso from our coffee machine.
Forth definitely ranks as one of the most scenic, as well as one of the oldest towns in Tasmania. Nestled on the banks of River Forth, it is only a 13 kilometre drive from the city of Devonport. The population of just 350 people makes it the kind of town where everyone knows everybody and you will be made to feel extremely welcome. Many of the original buildings have been replaced since settlement, but there is still a strong sense of history about this old town. At the hub of this history is the Historic Bridge Hotel, which is one of the town s oldest buildings and still stands in almost its original form. It was first licensed and opened in 1872, and has managed to retain the old world charm and atmosphere of those times of the past. The building is in fact heritage listed and regarded as a national treasure. It is also regarded as one of Tasmania s leading live music venues. Alternatively, enjoy the organic cafe located next door in the original post office building dating back to 1856.

Hi I’m Sally and I extend a warm welcome to you from the picturesque village of Forth in North West Tasmania. Family, friends and experiences that enrich life and relationships are very important to me and sharing Forth River Cottage is a part of this journey. I love to travel and I value accommodation that stirs the senses - visually beautiful, high end comfort and cleanliness, my needs anticipated - but homely enough to relax and unwind. Friends and family who have stayed at Forth River Cottage have been the driving force for me to open the doors to fellow travellers, there is a lot of love in this space to share! I have raised my family (as well as horses, dogs, cats and chooks!) beside the Forth River, putting down roots in the 1990’s. I value community, both local and global and work as a professional in social services. I look forward to assisting you with any questions, plans or requirements.

Why they chose this property
I chose this home as it reminded me of my South African heritage
The design is known as Cape Dutch Style. Cape Dutch architecture is a traditional Afrikaner architectural style found mostly in the Western Cape of South Africa. The style was prominent in the early days of the Cape Colony, and the name derives from the fact that the initial settlers of the Cape were primarily Dutch.

What makes this property unique
One of the unique characteristics of this property is its location. The property fronts onto the Forth River, which runs throughout the year. It is nestled in the heart of the Forth Valley only 5 minutes drive from Turners Beach (Bass Strait) and less than an hours drive to Cradle Mountain.
