Our home, "El Nido" (The Nest) is on top of the hill in Torreguadiaro with unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea, the Torreguadiaro/Sotogrande beach, the rock of Gibraltar, the Port of Sotogrande and the campo.

Enjoy our elegantly furnished and fully appointed 5-bedroom home, which has been completely remodeled. Inside, El Nido offers a large Family Salon with a wood fireplace and TV area as well as an open Living Room with a gas fireplace. There is also a deck on each level, giving everyone great views and plenty of space to relax and get away from it all. The large open kitchen, which opens up to the Living Room as well as the pool and garden, boasts a huge preparation and serving island with stools – and makes entertaining family and friends easy and fun indoors or outdoors. Enjoy El Nido’s outdoor shower or one of the 3 modern full-bathrooms. The Master Bathroom even has a free-standing tub with decadent ocean views!

El Nido is an easy drive from Gibraltar International Airport (30 minutes away) or Malaga International Airport (1 hour away).

Torreguadiaro is an escape from the overbuilt areas of the Costa del Sol yet close to everything. Torreguadiaro is surrounded by National Park and is where the mountains meet the sea so in addition to fantastic views of the Mediterranean there are great views of the green campo. From El Nido you can walk to almost everything, A short walk down the hill is the main street of Torreguadiaro, which is an attraction for neighboring communities as it boasts several tapas bars, fresh fish restaurants, beach bars/Chiringuitos and international cafes and restaurants (as well as a pharmacy and markets). You can also walk to the beach or to the Port of Sotogrande for more restaurant options, weekly artisan markets and fine shopping.

Within minutes there several tennis and padel clubs, including The Octogano Club de Tenis y Padel for red clay and hard courts, Club de Playa Cucuruchu for hard and grass courts and La Reserva for red clay and padel courts.

Enjoy great hiking and biking from El Nido. Peletons from throughout Europe come to our area to ride from village to village. There is everything from a selection of long, flat rides through orange and avocado orchards to more challenging hill climbs, which take you past cork and olive groves to picturesque whitewashed villages with amazing views of the surrounding campo.

Just 15 minutes from Torreguadiaro, step back in time and visit Castellar, a beautiful castle and artisan village with organic restaurants and beautiful views of the pantano/reservoir.

Swim, kayak or standup paddleboard from the Torreguadiaro beach or rent a large beach bed at one of the Chiringuitos to relax after all of your activities! If you’re up for more, rent Catamarans, sailboats or yachts just minutes away in the Sotogrande Port. El Nido is 1 hour away from Tarifa area beaches where there are many kite surfing schools and rentals and where you can take a 45-minute ferry to explore Morocco.

El Nido is 20 minutes from the border of Gibraltar, where you can hike, take a Gondola or guided taxi up the famous rock of Gibraltar to see more beautiful views, Gibraltar’s infamous monkeys and explore and learn about the caves and tunnels that Churchill used during the wars. For the kids and young-at-heart Gibraltar also has King’s Bastion, an entertainment center with bowling, ice-skating, games and movies in English. (Back in Spain and just 15 minutes from El Nido there is also a great cinema, which shows movies in Spanish, in Los Barrios.)

El Nido is 5-15 minutes from some of the best golf courses in Europe including Valderrama, La Reserva San Roque (old & new courses), Club Real de Golf (Sotogrande), Alcaidesa, La Canada and 36 holes at Almenara. We are 30 minutes from the Finca Cortesin golf course and resort.

We are 3-15 minutes from the Ayala, Pinos and Santa Maria Polo fields, which host Polo events and tournaments year round. The Santa Maria Polo Club hosts several men and women’s tournaments including Spain’s Women’s Championship Tournament the Land Rover International Polo Tournament each summer.

And if you haven’t explored enough, El Nido is just 2 hours from Seville, 1.5 hours from Ronda, and 2 hours from Granada.

El Nido is 7 minutes from the Sotogrande International School, a IB school that is affiliated with Europe’s best tennis and golf academies.

Amazing villa. It is gorgeous, comfortable and the kitchen is stunning and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The views are amazing and the garden and pool are wonderful. The host answers any questions or queries promptly and provided detailed directions to villa and clear, straight forward, instructions for arrival and for everything you need to know about the villa, making the whole experience pleasant and easy for us. Our Stay at El Nido

Overall stay was great. There were a couple of Issues which were resolved within 24 hours but it was not the owners fault more a mistake by the company looking after the Pool. Overall a great stay, stunning views and a beautiful house.

Property was absolutely beautiful with amazing views. The kitchen and whole villa was well equipped and it was very clean. Villa and land were ideal for a big group. Everything you need for a good stay - pool was great for all ages. Sottogrande is lovely and good beach nearby. Also Paige the owner is very effiecient at answering any queries. Great place for a relaxing break. Only thing was that the hill was hard to navigate when carrying shopping and it is very difficult and expensive to get cabs anywhere. A hire car would make staying here a lot easier.

Feathering the nest

Beautiful residence with wonderful facilities. Location at the top of the hill gave unbelievable views of the surrounding area, Gibraltar and Morocco! Communication with the owner was better than good, and Paige was always available if needed. El Nido is a beautiful residence, within 10-15mins walk from restaurants and shops (albeit down a fairly steep hill - but don’t let this put you off, it’s worth it for the view) and just a 1min walk further on you find yourself on a lovely beach. The stunning marina of Sotogrande is a 25min walk from the house which has more upmarket shops and restaurants if that’s your thing. Overall we would highly recommend staying here and we have already passed the details on to friends.

Fantastic Views

The property was very well equipped and had everything needed for a stay. The pool was fab, particularly as the weather was very hot for the time of year, so it was well utilised by us all. The instruction manual provided in the villa was really useful, it provided information on using the appliances etc., but also past visitors had left cards, leaflets for attractions, restaurants etc. The walk down to the resort was a lot easier than the walk back up. We had hired cars for our group which enabled us to explore the area further, the villa location gave us some great scope and we visited Gibraltar, Estepona & Marbella as well as the local area. I would recommend a stay at the villa and Paige was very responsive to any questions we had.

Beautiful views, beautiful modern home!

This was the perfect family holiday home for us. There was plenty of space to spread out and find your own niche. The large open plan, lower floor with kitchen, dining room and living area opens on to the pool deck, outdoor couches & garden. The views from the top floor were beautiful but we spent most of our time together around the pool and in the kitchen together. We enjoyed shopping for food at the nearby Super Macado in Sotogrande. They offer high end products and foods from around the world, including wines and spirits. We used a car to get to the port, nearby towns and beaches because of the heat and the hill. However one of our guests used the hill for a workout each morning. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!

First time I’ve ever felt the need to do this but here goes:The check-in was seamless, all went as explained.Overall we had a good stay at the villa, the pool area is lovely, plenty of room for 9 of us.We did have some negatives, we had no air conditioning in 1 room upon arrival for 5 nights, the unit broke down which can’t be helped but why hasn’t it been checked before we arrived. The unit in another bedroom also stopped working but was fixed the next day. The pool filtration system also stopped working a couple of times. Again can’t be helped, on both occasions they reacted quickly to try and fix the issues.Unfortunately the cleanliness of the bedding, towels and tea cloths was quite dreadful. I travel quite extensively with work and I’ve never stayed in a villa or hotel where the linen was so smelly. Upon removal of the bedding the pillows and mattresses were very heavily stained and the pillows were smelly.We had to wash multiple loads of bedding and towels for them to be useable. Not what you would expect to have to do when you arrive on holiday in a villa which is beautiful and not exactly cheap to rent.The cleanliness of the villa was also questionable, the kids wear white socks and after walking around INSIDE the villa they were very dirty. The BBQ was filthy when we arrived, we had to spend quite a bit of time cleaning it before we could use it, as was some of the kitchen equipment.Also not enough sun beds and a few maintenance jobs needed.

Stunning villa

The villa itself is stunning with breathtaking views. It has absolutely everything you need, every single kitchen utensil you can imagine, a hairdryer, an iron etc. There was not 1 thing missing and Paige in an excellent host and responds very quickly to messages. We did have 1 slight issue with the neighbour who poked his head through the bushes to shush the kids whilst they were playing in the pool one afternoon but we ignored him and he didnt appear again! Absolutely no complaints, we had the perfect 2 week stay and didnt want to leave! The kids loved playing football at the bottom of the garden in the evening and the lemon trees and grapes growing in the garden were just beautiful. The attention to detail that has gone into the design of the place is like nothing I have seen before. We hope to revisit one day! Thank you Paige

Perfect place for catch up with friends

The Villa is amazing and views spectacular however to get the views it is a good 20 mins yomp up the hill. I suspect most people would hire a car but we were a group of friends who were aiming for a good catch up and this was perfect. We were spoiled for choice which bit of garden or sun terraces to sit on and of course the immaculate pool. Lemon tree producing lots of ripe lemons Description is very accurate and easy to communicate with owner who was very helpful when we had a problem following a big storm. One of bedrooms is smaller room with bunk beds which wasn’t a problem and that was specifically pointed out but 2 of bedrooms have brilliant sea views and plenty of other places in Villa to catch the view. Kitchen very big and well equipped and plenty of seating areas inside and out. Local restaurants good and got local bus to Gibraltar. I would say great place to have leisurely catch up with family or friends but would hire a car if staying more than a week I am sure I will come back again

Lovely holiday

This was our first time renting a house for our holiday, and it’s not the last time. We were 9 people traveling together- 5 adults and 4 kids (3,7,13,16). We rented a car, which gave us a lot of freedom to see more than just the area, and it was nice when we went shopping. The beautiful house is on the top of the hill, with a fantastic view, and all you can need for a holiday. Even with a baby trolley it was fine to walk down to the Main Street with small shops and really nice restaurants. We wrote to Paige a few times, and she was really quick to respond with all the information we needed. What could have been better was the cleaning. Maybe it’s not totally fine to write it here, ‘cause we haven’t told Paige about it, so she hasn’t got an opportunity to do anything about it. But there was dog hair several places, and the drawer

A perfect family getaway.

We had such a wonderful week at "El Nido" in Torreguardiaro. The property was as beautiful as the pictures show and the layout worked great for our extended family. Each couple had their own floor and my grandsons had a room right by Mommy and Daddy. We used the deck outside the kitchen every day and enjoyed the pool in the afternoons. My personal favorite was the "Deck of Dreams" on the top floor off of the master bedroom. Early morning coffee and tea, afternoons reading my Kindle, late nights looking at the lights of town and the stars...just perfect. The house had everything you could need or want including children's life jackets, washer and dryer, pots and pans, dishwasher, rice cooker and so much more. My kids had a chef come to the house one night to prepare a 60th birthday dinner for me and they complimented us several times on the beautiful kitchen and layout. We did day trips to Morocco, The Rock of Gibraltar and Torreguardiaro Beach. We ate in several restaurants in town, Rio Seco was a favorite. We often walked to town but always found a cab or a ride back up as we are out of shape Americans! Paige was incredibly responsive and understanding when my son locked himself out of the house and later when he left for Italy with the keys. Where did I go wrong, lol? Anyway, if you're thinking about booking this lovely home, go ahead and do it! You won't be sorry.

Really lovely (but with some tiny niggles!)

Just back from a lovely and very enjoyable week at El Nido. The villa is beautiful and it was great to have all the little things (dishwasher tabs, fairy, cloths, seasoning etc) accessible to us. The top deck area is stunning and the rooms we used all spacious and well equipped. The kitchen is fabulous with lots of crockery, glasses, cutlery etc so you’re not always having to wash up. A couple of minor things: we were a little disappointed to find several wine glasses which were unclean (dregs from previous drinks in them) but put this down to previous tenants rather than the cleaner- however there were bits of foil (from chocolate?) scattered beneath a coffee table in the middle lounge and dust around the edges of the floors in the walk in wardrobe at the top meaning clothes would get a bit grubby if dropped accidentally. Very minors things but worth the cleaner knowing for future guests. The volleyball net from the bottom garden is no longer there due to damage which again is very minor but should probably not be shown in pictures as my boys (keen sportsmen) were looking forward to a spot of volleyball - but they improvised in the pool instead which was probably a lot cooler! Did have an issue with a broken shutter in one bedroom: the property owner was very apologetic but sadly it couldn’t be fixed until the day before we left (we declined to have it done at that point) so that bedroom was always in total darkness - again not a massive issue as my son likes sleeping in late but it would have been nice to let some fresh air in each day. However, in spite of my few small niggles, we had a really nice time and would definitely return to El Nido again. In addition we loved the local area and beach restaurants which were all walkable.

Great property, views to die for!

We stayed at this property for a week and it was fantastic. Location is at the top of a hill which although the walk is tough and the road can be a bit precarious driving it’s worth it for the view. The driveway is quite tight so if you have a low or big car it can be tricky and is on a very steep slope but didn’t cause us many issues just a few 5 point turns. The Villa is beautiful, air con works great and has almost everything you could need. We had to buy l bin bags, some washing tablets and ant spray as we had a big problem with ants in the kitchen and none of this was available. (We mentioned this during our stay but there was no offer to bring bin bags or any killer to the Villa we were expected to buy this). We would also have liked to see more wine glasses as the Villa sleeps 8-10 but there aren’t enough for this. The only downsides… There was no first aid kit (some plasters but nothing else and this was a big shock to us especially when one person cut their foot open on the decking. There was no fire extinguisher, another safety item we were very shocked not to find. We were disappointed to find the net for volleyball wasn’t up or on the property, we were looking forward to this, there were balls available but no pump to inflate them and they were all flat. The taps in the master bedroom randomly spurt out masses of water and soak either you or the floor. The TV was in Spanish with no instructions of how to change it into English. The freezer had a lot of food left in it that we weren’t sure whether we were permitted to bin it leaving us with little space in there. The 5th bedroom doesn’t have air on or a fan making it very hot. There aren’t enough trays for the oven or pans for the stove. More towels would have been useful or washing tablets so we could clean them through the stay as after a week they’re quite unpleasant. Finally a spare set of keys (2 for the Villa) would have been quite helpful. Otherwise it was fantastic and I’m sure we’ll be back! Advice for anyone coming to stay going forward: - bring floats, there is one but some lilos etc are great for the Villa. - bring a steel to sharpen knives, they’re very blunt. - bring washing tablets, bin bags and ant killer. - bring a speaker if you want music, there is one there but it is a US plug and we didn’t have an adapter to use it. - bring extra towels. - hire a small car with a good handbrake! - bring a mini first aid kit.

Fabulous week in a fantastic property

The villa was exceptional and was just what was needed for 9 people from 3 different families. Plenty of space for everyone whilst able to bring us all together when needed. The outside area was ideal and the pool was just the right size. The BBQ was top class and meant we cooked outdoors most of the time> The location was ideal as it was just outside the town but close enough to walk down to (Bit more challenging walking back up but taxi’s were very available)

Lovely break

Great break away at el nido. The villa had everything we needed and was a short walk from lots of amazing local beach bars, restaurants and shops. A large Lidl is a 10 minute drive. Gorgeous place

Lovely property!

We have had a wonderful time at this villa. It’s just as stunning as it looks in the photos and the location is brilliant. I know the area of Torreguadiaro quite well and never imagined this villa would be less than 5 mins away in car! Paige is brilliant as a host and very responsive. The only negative was the bedroom with the bunk bed which is very small and doesn’t have aircon. We stayed in peak Summer so the guests staying in that room did struggle however Paige did warn us of this in advance. Overall we had a fantastic time and would definitely return, thanks Paige! :)

Hemos pasado 10 días muy a gusto. Estancia, localización, tranquilidad y todo a mano. Sobre todo hemos disfrutado muchísimo los espacios exteriores. Para repetir sin dudas! 🤩

Idéal pour de superbes vacances

La villa est située dans un quartier résidentiel calme. L'équipement est très bien. On s'y sent comme à la maison. Tout est très propre et bien entretenu. Les commodités sont à 10 minutes à pied. La vue sur la mer et le rocher de Gibraltar... A couper le souffle... L'endroit est idéal pour se reposer, passer de bonnes vacances en famille et avec des amis.

Perfectly beautiful place

This villa has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Conveniently located up a steep hill behind the main strip in Torreguardiano. The villa’s position provides panoramic views of the coastline and Gibraltar especially from the top deck. There are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and a great beach in Torreguardiano and cheap and reliable taxis to take you up and down the hill if you don’t fancy the walk. The villa is well equipped, spacious, beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. We especially liked the spacious kitchen opening out onto the patio, gardens, bbq and pool area. All our guests commented on the quality bed linen and comfortable beds. We all slept well throughout our stay and the air con worked well in all 4 bedrooms. There were plenty of games, books, glasses, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and towels provided by the owner, as well as a really helpful house manual. The owner was very helpful throughout the booking process and stay; providing an immediate response and resolve to any queries.

Craig, Paige and their daughter, Emma, spend their time between Stowe, Vermont in the United States and Torreguadiaro in Spain. Paige has had a life-long love affair with Spain and has infected her husband and daughter with it as well. It started when Paige studied in Bilbao as an exchange student in High School and then continued while Paige studied in Madrid during college. As a family, we have spent many holidays together exploring and hiking throughout Spain and also spent 2 separate years living in Spain, one in Sevilla and another in Torreguadiaro/Sotogrande. While we were living in Sotogrande in 2013, we found what became El Nido and embarked upon an extensive remodeling project to create the perfect home and family retreat, which we enjoy sharing with friends, old and new, from around the world.

What makes this property unique

In addition to what we’ve written in the property description, we enjoy the little pleasures of El Nido – sitting in the shade by a wall of colorful bouganvilla, picking lemons, limes, figs or oranges from our fruit trees, doing yoga on the grass by the pool, swimming or floating in the pool, or just lounging on the “Deck of Dreams” and enjoying the views and breeze.
