This place is amazing
Had a great long weekend at the castle. I couldn't believe how many living rooms were here. Enjoyed exploring the trails and lake on the property.
We went kayaking in nearby Utsalady Bay and saw an eagle, seals and other birds.
Planning on coming back up here again.
Great place to spread out with plenty of living space. Beautifully appointed rooms throughout. Kitchen is amazingly equipped with ideal access to deck for grilling and chilling. Wifi a bit unpredictable and inadequate for the number of devices a full complement of guests require. Fun "scavenger hunt" suggestion upon arrival kept some of us very engaged. Property manager promptly attentive.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Beware the accuracy of the listing!
The pictures do not do this house justice. Housed inside a wildlife preserve, you should be aware there are 22 dead animals sharing the house with you, either skinned or stuffed, as well as an abundance of religious iconography. Though the lake, hiking trails, and grounds are lovely, the provisions for tenants left onsite are not monitored. There was rancid cooking oil on the counter that ruined one of our meals. Despite being advertised as having wifi, there was none to be had. And good luck getting a cell signal on Verizon or T-Mobile.

Laura, we're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at this house. We strive to make our listings as accurate as possible- it's one of our 4 Core Property Standards! We use recent and professional photos to portray both the inside and outside of the property. This way, guests can decide if this property is a good fit for them before booking. We do show the animals and religious symbols in several of the pictures, although we're sorry that they weren't to your taste. We encourage guests to reach out to the guest contact should any cleanliness, technical, or any other issue arise in residence- they're always happy to help! With privacy comes spotty cell reception, as with many secluded homes, but we apologize if this caught you off guard. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, and we're confident this home will continue to host many satisfied guests! Best, the Evolve Team
We stayed here for a work retreat and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house has large bedrooms and lots of space to hang out. The kitchen has pretty much anything you could need in terms of equipment, and the carpet is very plush. They require no shoes in these areas, so bring slippers.
There is a lovely view of the lake and the aquatic fowl that live there. It was very entertaining to watch even from afar.
There were a few small downsides. The beds are very firm, which was uncomfortable for most of us. But this is not unusual for rental homes.
The hot tub is limited to 99 degrees, so that was a bummer.
This last struggle is not on the hosts but on those who stay with dogs. We had a dog with us, and we were disappointed to see that other dog owners hadn’t picked up after their dogs.
Back to the good stuff:
The location was near enough to a gas station/convenience store to get something when we needed it.
The game room is full of puzzles, games, and comfy seating. There is an additional seating area on the far side of the kitchen, which had a TV, but we never turned it on.
It was a delightful stay overall!
This was more like a private resort than renting a house. The house and the property are absolutely beautiful. Everyone in the family enjoyed it. This was a great value for the money.
There was a very minor issue that the property manager handled quickly and professionally. We definitely want to come back to the same place, hopefully for a longer stay.
It was a nice gathering the house definitely spacious. Overall everything you need. The jacuzzi never warm up the top was off when I arrived so the water got duty, there was lots of family games that was really nice. I don’t understand why the ask to removed the bed sheets from the bed, before leaving? if you have a fee for cleaning that should absolutely not bet my job I have to pay for that there is a fee so be aware of that, Also wifi is no to reliable. Obviously if you are vacationing is no to important.
We stayed for several days with family and enjoyed the beautiful location and wonderful home.. such great memories

Great House and Property - Just a Few Issues
We were six adults and two kids who stayed over the (Canadian) long weekend from May 17 to May 20. Generally speaking, the house and the property are great.
There are a few easily rectifiable issues that could make it much better though:
1. When we arrived there was a large mound of dog pooh in the fireplace room. We have pictures. I have to imagine that this was somehow just a freak accident (i.e. a dog accidentally got in when someone came by?) but it was not an auspicious start.
2. There is no Wi-Fi. The description is incorrect. I would consider Wi-Fi a bare minimum for a vacation rental property – particularly a rural one with poor cell coverage. If it does not have Wi-Fi then that should be in bold letters when booking. It would also just be very easy to get it so that guests can stream music.
3. There were two issues with the kitchen:
First, the fridge was half full of very old groceries. There was a Worcestershire sauce bottle that had literally expired in 2008. There were multiple bottles and containers that expired more than 3 years ago. We had filled half of the garbage bin throwing things out from the fridge before we even began unloading our groceries. The freezer is even worse but we did not need any space in it.
Second, and notwithstanding the kitchen is relatively large, all of the cupboards, drawers, and the pantry were jammed full of old plates, cups, and platters. The kitchen counters are also half covered in various decorations. The result was that we had to stack our groceries (cereal, bread, chips, etc.) on top of each other on the counters.
Both of the kitchen issues can be easily solved: Make sure that the fridge is empty every time a guest leaves and clear out two or three cupboards so that arriving guests (who inevitably have brought groceries with them since it is a rural property) have space to store them.
That said, it is still an excellent place. The grounds are stunning, the house is enormous, the bedrooms are spacious, and the fireplace room is a great place to spend the evening.

we had a great time!
Our family stayed here for a long Easter weekend and we had a great time! it was a good getaway and had lots of board games and lots of room for everyone. The host was responsive and flexible! We would recommend this house to anyone that needs to unwind from and relax. They had everything you would need to cook and hang out with the family.
