Beautiful, clean, spacious and well-appointed villa. Accommodates large groups easily.

16 family members with ages ranging from 12 to 66 comfortably enjoyed a week at the villa. I would recommend the accommodation at the drop of a hat.

Lovely house and stay

The property is lovely and near Banyoles Lake which is a really nice place to visit. There are plenty of places to go out and visit such as Girona and the Dali museum in Figueres. Raquel our host was really helpful and helped arrange a trip to a vineyard and to the Dali Museum. The service that she provides is really good and helped make the stay better - Thanks Raquel!

Five star property and owner!!

Our diverse group had an excellent experience in this historic property that was perfect for all our activities; mainly road biking and sight seeing. Lots of well furnished indoor and outdoor spaces, great pool, patio, BBQ and secure bike lock up. Raquel who manages this family property provided constant, exceptional advice and support ensuring we maximized our time to the fullest. We could not have had a better holiday!

Lovely stay

Villa is lovely. Communal space inside is great and bedrooms nicely laid out and comfortable. Raquel welcomed us on first day and went through everything we needed. Lots of thoughtful touches and loads of info on places to visit. We arrived in the area early and were able to leave our luggage until the villa was ready for us to check in. Bbq area and courtyard were lovely. Pool is not huge but big enough for a nice cool dip on a hot day. Lots of loungers available and a mix of sunny and shady areas within the courtyard. A good time was had by all!

Family Celebration

From the moment we booked this lovely home, Raquel reached out to us to assist us with any questions we had, arranged for travel, massages, bikes being delivered, ordered and delivered two beautiful birthday cakes, and gave us lots of details for places to explore! Raquel and her mother greeted us at the bus stop in Mata, shared their family home & history, and even drove us to the local store to pick up needed groceries. Their home is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, plenty of space for our 95-year old father all the way down to our youngest grandson, age 10. The pool and outside area was an amazing spot to unwind, so peaceful. We loved all of our shared family time around the large kitchen, walking to stores in Mata, taking a walking path to Lake Banyoles, learning how to navigate the bus to Barcelona and Girona was easy! We couldn't have asked for a better spot to celebrate family! Raquel, you and your family are amazing and we are so very grateful for your help & kindness. Beautiful home for a fantastic vacation

We are a three generation group of 10 (ages 14-73) This beautiful house suited us perfectly. There was plenty of space to be together and places for quiet time. It was perfectly maintained and well equipped. We prepared many meals with no problem, including a few on the grill (charcoal). The two large refrigerator/ freezers were wonderful. Beds were comfortable and showers were excellent. The pool and the ping pong table got a lot of use. And the large kitchen table was a wonderful and spacious gathering place. Raquel and her family were very attentive and answered all our questions promptly both before and during our stay. There were also binders prepared offering a wealth of information on the area and places to visit. There is a bus stop within easy walking distance which we used to go to both Barcelona and Girona. We had rental cars and visited many other places in the area. Rental of both a road and a mountain bike kept two people busy and offered challenging rides. Eat Sleep Cycle in Girona was a great choice for rental. Our runners/ walkers enjoyed the Via Verde and loops around the lake. We enjoyed being in Mata/ Banyoles as we got a good feel for life away from tourists. It was a great place to head in all directions to visit everything the area has to offer. Many thanks to Raquel and her family. 100% recommend Can Xargay for great memories!

Idyllic Family Reunion Location

You're always a little wary that the photos of a property have been taken on the sunniest day when the pool had just been cleaned and the house just painted, so you hold your breath a little when you take those first few steps into your vacation home. For us, the reality was even better than the pictures. Can Xargay was the perfect location for our family to get together after more than 5 years apart. There were grandparents, siblings, partners and children, 15 in total who stayed various amounts of time over a 2-week period at the house. We all had room to live, eat, hang out and have fun without being on top of each other. Let me start with the outside space. The pool was perfect. The kids spent most of every day in the pool playing and having fun. The deep end was always shaded which gave some relief from the sun and the fence and gate provided a deterrent from eager early morning swimmers. The adults had many evening snacks and drinks at the long picnic table beside the pool. Allowing us lots of room to sit and catch up while keeping an eye on the pool. The sun loungers and chairs along with stone benches in the courtyard provided lots of space for reading and chilling during the sunny days for all the family. Inside, the kitchen was huge. The long table allowed everyone space to make and eat their own food while being social and sharing. It was the hub during the day, with many cups of tea and coffee spent sitting on chairs and chatting. The sitting room off the kitchen was beautiful. Again, a lot of room and air conditioning along with the huge tv (which we never turned on) but allowed everyone some downtime in comfort. The table tennis table in the games room also got a good workout and one of our younger ones produced many restaurant meals from the play kitchen there! Upstairs the bedrooms were all really good with some really nice touches to enjoy. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of bathrooms. We walked to the local bakeries and coffee shops nearly every day and the supermarkets were super close as well. We spent an evening and a few days in the town of Banyoles which is really nice and had lunch at a restaurant on the lake which was stunning. I will recommend this place to anyone who is looking for somewhere stress-free to stay and I think I may actually be back myself. The location was perfect for Girona, Figures, Cadaques and the beaches and water parks. All in all, a perfect house for a fabulous holiday.

My family of 15 rented this villa and were very impressed with our stay. Raquel was very easy to communicate with and helped arrange a wonderful dinner celebrating my husbands birthday. There was plenty of space for everyone to gather and also to have some space for quiet time. The pool was such a treat as it was very hot and the kids spent many hours enjoying the water activities. Raquel has tourist information available to help guests plan outings. We did rent three vehicles and there was room to park all of them. Navigating the trips to the grocery store and the lake was easy. We were fortunate enough to be included in the neighborhood barbeque on our last night with games for the kids and more than enough food for everyone. If you are looking for a unique experience with lots of space for a large group then this is the place for you - you won't be disappointed. We definitely would stay here again.Annette

We booked the villa so that ten of our extended family (and a 4 month old baby) could spend a week together and celebrate the 30th birthday of one of the party. The Villa was perfect for our group. All eight bedrooms were good. The one on the ground floor with an en suite was perfect for the couple with baby. 6 bathrooms with excellent water pressure in the showers meant we were all comfortable. The terrace outside always had somewhere to sit in the shade. And the pool was very refreshing. It was the perfect temperature. Raquel was extremely helpful and her mum cooked us a fabulous meal on our first night. Most of the party also took advantage of the excellent treatments (massages and facials) offered by Sandra in the adjoining wellness centre. That made it really special. We hired bikes for some of the party which gave us flexibility in terms of getting around. The lake at Banyoles was a great favourite. The walking/cycle path to Banyoles took us longer than we expected. GPS wasn’t wholly helpful. But we enjoyed the walk. There were a couple of good supermarkets and some bakeries close by, essential for such a big group. The internet was good most of the time but occasionally dropped out, not a big issue if you have your own mobile coverage. So a really great find. We all loved it. Many thanks to Raquel and family. We would definitely book the villa again.

Wonderful house and location

The owners of this property were especially attentive to our needs and requests. As this was our first time using Home Away, this high level of service gave us much confidence. The house is well appointed and plenty of room for our group of 12. The games room was a great hit as was the lovely swimming pool. Local knowledge and advice on places to visits, where to get coffee and cake and help organising a birthday cake to be made was so helpful. It is a short walk to local amenities and the beautiful lake and public transport is good, which means a car is not absolutely necessary. We would highly recommend this property.

The kind and hospitable Xargay family prepared a dinner for celebrate a lof of anniversaries in our group - a wonderful meal that really was a prime example of the delicious Catalan cuisine. Also, we really appreciated your helpfulness whether it had to do with like renting, bus routes or other practical matters. The weather was good to us and the house perfect.
