RIVERSIDE RETREAT on the Roaring Fork River

CHARMING TWO BEDROOM ON THE ROARING FORK RIVER:
Pitkin County Short Term Rental License No. STR.0089.2022
This home is surrounded by country and open views though not located far, just over a bridge, from the Intersection of HWY 82. The living room hosts a wonderful library of books, wood burning fireplace, 40" flat screen TV, and views. The TV, cable including premium channels, and I-net were upgraded in October 2020. The kitchen is fully stocked with an abundance of appliances, dishware and cook & bake ware including but not limited to microwave, toaster, single drink blender, drip & Keurig coffee pots, and crock pot. Separating the kitchen from the deck is a small dining room that seats up to 6. The deck over looks the river, has a café table and chairs set, umbrella, and propane grill. Master features King bed, Jacuzzi tub, flat screen TV, views, and sounds of the river. Guest bedroom features a double bed, a single bed, and 40" TV. Home sleeps 5. A pak'n'play, and baby gates are stored in the guest bedroom. The bathroom has a walk-in shower; the hall has mirrored and lighted vanity with a second sink and a laundry closet with washer and dryer. The home has hair dryer, iron & ironing board, vacuum, fans, humidifiers and supplies.

This two bedroom is the top floor of a tri-plex that has 2 great and helpful long-term renters in the units below. There is a community viewing area at the edge of the river. Above is a picnic area with charcoal BBQ, garden swing, and table & chairs. From the property one can fish or walk to other nearby fishing spots, access a put-in, or continue and follow the River Walk Trail to Basalt. Often numerous and colorful rafters and kayakers negotiate the river. The riders & guides know a section of the river, just beyond the home, as “Toothache”. Above the home is the Rio Grande Trail used by spurts of bike riders.

A gentle path at the far end of the Commons hooks up with the River Walk Trail to Basalt along the shore of the Roaring Fork River. There is a beach and put-in before the River Walk Trail leads west. Check out trails down the road. From the front door, go left up the road to the sign: Aspen Glen Open Space. Take a left off road, then another left into a little parking area by river. There are trails and one leads to an island in the river. There are many other places to access the river from the property or nearby for fishing. A book on fishing the Frying Pan and articles on fishing are provided. Hiking trail books are also available.

IMPORTANT NOTATION: The home was built circa late 50's. The complete renovation of the vacation rental was finished in 1988. Since then, there have been many upgrades especially to TVs, I-net, plumbing fixtures, amenities, furnishings, and bedding. It is an older property having the ambiance of a paneled drawing room and does not offer the minimalistic furnishing or ambience that has been trending in recent years - - though some current (2023) divestment and newer purchases are modernizing the look and utility. New pictures will be posted as more and more is modernized and the atmosphere takes on a new character. There are typically inherent flaws with older homes regardless that repair and maintenance is routinely done and upgrades are an on-going process. If you are expressly looking for a rental that is new and trending the minimalistic style, please find exactly what you want. It is my hope that all guests and vacationers have a great stay in our wonderful, enchanting valley and enjoy serenity as well as the outstanding adventures each season offers.

The Aspen/Snowmass area is 14 miles east and Old Town Basalt/Willits are 4 miles west from the intersection of HWY 82. Carbondale is about 12 miles west and Glenwood Springs another 20 miles. There is year round shopping, dining, recreation, historical sites, tours, and events in Aspen, Snowmass Village, Old Town Basalt, Willits, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs. An expansive City Market and the new Whole Foods are at Willits. The RFTA buses stop at the HWY 82 intersection and travel both east and west.

Crossing the intersection of HWY 82 and continuing on Snowmass Creek Rd, takes one through Old Snowmass, up to Shield O Mesa, and to back roads to Snowmass Village. From the home and continuing East on Lower River Rd., Woody Creek and the Woody Creek Tavern are 6 miles away.

The distance between Denver & Aspen is 198 miles. The estimated drive time is 3.5 hours. Please see driving instructions.

ADDRESS: 0038 NORTH RIVER ROAD, SNOWMASS, CO 81654. Home is at the corner of 0038 North River Road and 0038 Lower River Road. The road names have been used interchangeably. For Google, use 0038 North River Road.

We enjoyed our stay here along the river. This is a great location if you are looking to explore the whole Roaring Fork Valley. We easily spent time in Basalt, Snowmass and Aspen. The property manager is great.

Amazing stay

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the first time in the Aspen area and we will 100% be coming back again. Kim was amazing and a super big help with anything that was needed, not to mention the awesome goody basket that was there for us upon arrival. We can’t wait to stay here again.

Great ski vacation stay

We enjoyed staying here for a ski vacation. The place is clean and well-stocked, all the books and mirrors are a unique touch. The river view from the master bedroom is beautiful. Kim is extremely helpful and communicative, and the welcome basket was a nice bonus!

Very welcoming

We looked forward to returning here; it's one of our vacation favorites. Nothing beats the sound of rushing water right below the deck. The livingroom area is so cozy. I hated to leave, but we'll return for sure.

Snowmass ski vacation

Kim was a great host. Left us a wonderful basket of snacks and treats. We skied Snowmass and this was a very convenient location. 10 min drive to Brush creek parking area and then a 10 min bus shuttle to the mall area of Snowmass. We hope to return someday.

Unique place right on the river

This had to be one of the most unique places we have stayed and it was full of character. We loved getting acquainted with all it had to offer. The best part by far is the location on the River and the back deck. We could see the fish in the water every day! It’s also right on the Rio Grande Trail. The place was very well equipped and Kim was a really great property manager.

Riverside Reader's Paradise

We had a fantastic time staying here. It was perfect. The property has character and charm. It has an "old school" feel to it which resonated with us . My small family of 3 was so happy. Close to so many different outings/areas, we were able to fly fish, swim, eat, hike, and read. Kim took great care of us. The outdoor areas are so much fun and just gorgeous. We will be staying here again in the future, for sure. Be sure to bring your bikes so you can take a ride to Basalt via the Old Basalt trail.

Clean dated convenient comfort near Basat

Our adult children didn’t come after all so we used the small extra bedroom for luggage and changing which was a big space help. Loved the River sound. Got a kick out of trying out the small round Japanese style deep bathtub in the master bedroom. Took 45 minutes to fill. Appreciate the kitchen staples, comfortable couch and lots of towels. Would have loved a softer pillow selection. Actually had to borrow pillows from friends! All in all quite satisfied.

Fishing and Work

Couldn't ask for more fish accessible if a fly angler. Location central to Roaring Fork Valley and all the areas fairly close. This is not a property for those who want all the frills. Super clean and well appointed for sure. Dated and small. It is also a shared structure with people who live there full time. Just not for everyone. Host was great!! Even prepared a list of local businesses I needed for my work there. Thanks!!!

We've found Our # 1 Rental property!

We've rental a LOT of properties and can honestly say this was our favorite rental to date ! Being right on the river, gave us so much peace, hearing the water flow right by us, as we sat on the deck. The 2BR rental had everything we could have dreamed about- we had a fire every night (plenty of wood stacked and easily accessible), the furniture was so comfy to spend hours lounging around, the bed was fantastic and the view from the master was so peaceful gazing at the mountains. My husband loved the blackout curtains- he never slept so late in his life! It was extremely clean and there are an abundance of towels and hot water! The kitchen had everything you could possible think of and more! Plenty of spices, cooling oil, coffee and tea. Kim, the rental property manager was lightning fast on any questions or comments we had about the property. We got to try out the Shark vacuum, to clean up the wood pieces and leaves we brought inside every other day while bringing in more firewood from the deck- Loved it- time to go buy a Shark! The trail system in the area is fantastic and the Arciero trail runs by the house (though with a broken foot) we only walked a small portion of it. We enjoyed lunches at Heathers (get the pot pie!), Mod's Thai House and Cafe Bernard. We took drives around the area- headed to Marble one day, and drove up as far as we could toward Maroon Bells before we had to turn around since we didn't have a reservation. But there was a small animal farm on the way (alpacas, goats, horses), which was fun! Had lunch in Aspen ($$$) and never needed to return- we are not shoppers or high end, froufrou kind of people. We wold DEFINITELY love to rent here again ! Thanks for a wonderful time!

Great place on the river

The place was just as pictured and had everything you need for a great vacation. The kitchen was well stocked. We loved hanging out on the deck looking over the Roaring Fork. My son enjoyed fly fishing right by the house. Kim was a wealth of information. Lots of good books on the bookshelf. Thanks for a great week.

If you love the sound of a creek, this is the place for you!

There are several places in the area to rent that are cheaper and there are several that are newer, but none had the wonderful sights and sounds of the babbling creek out the back door. We left the windows open all night and day and ate outside on the back porch just so we could enjoy the water. Neighbors below were super quiet and we never saw them. House is older but well appointed with everything you need. The welcome gifts and food were quite the surprise and Kim the manager is very communicative. She is a wealth of knowledge about the area, restaurants, bus lines, etc and was a real help during our stay. I would recommend this property because even though it is right off of a busy road, the creek drowns out any city noise and is wonderful to enjoy.

Terrific Manager

We couldn't have had a better manager. As previous reviews stated, Kim jad everything stocked, from water, to coffee, to every supply you could possibly want. She was immediately responsive to anything we requested. The Keurig coffeemaker wouldn't work, so she immediately replaced it with a new one, even though there was also a regular coffeemaker. I mentioned the first night that I had forgotten to get butter at the store, and 30 minutes later she was at the door with a stick of butter from her refrigerator. It was very clean, and the setting was beautiful. The accommodations were a bit tired, and the owners could stand to update some things. There was always something to read because the bookshelves were filled with all different kinds of books. Amazing collection!! Kim is a special manager with the gift of pleasing!!

The current owners are the sons of the late, former owner, and are maintaining the former traditions of aesthetic ease and charm he established while going forward with updated I-net, TV services, and furnishings . . . and a future remodel wishlist. The current owners are Ian and Morgan Farrington, both of California.

The two downstairs neighbors are great. Both are quiet, helpful, and know all the fishing spots.

Why they chose this property

This home was renovated and refurbished to suit the late owner's taste and sense of aesthetics in 1988. It is a small, charming home. The location is fabulous and provides a great get-away from the fast paced activities that are often part of an adventure in this area or from one's usual routine. Returning to the home after a day and evening out is coming home to peace and serenity.

What makes this property unique

This vacation rental is competitively priced, reflecting mid-valley rates as opposed to upper valley rates; yet, offers accessibility to ALL the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer from one end to the other. The east bound RFTA buses travel from the near-by bus stop to the Intercept Lot at the intersection of HWY 82 & Brush Creek. From the Intercept Lot one can catch a bus to Snowmass Village & Ski area, the Airport, the Buttermilk Ski area, the Highlands Ski area (and shuttles to the Maroon Bells), Aspen Ski Mt. and City of Aspen. The west bound RFTA buses travel to Basalt, Willits, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs.
