We are in a quiet place in the Borders , the apartment overlooks the wild flower meadow where we have red squirrels, hares, deer and many rare birds . The herons come to nest each year along with many other birds.
We had a wonderful stay at Merlindale. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out, with everything we needed for a relaxing visit. The setting by the River Tweed is incredibly peaceful and scenic — a perfect place to unwind after days of exploring the area. The space was clean, well maintained, and felt welcoming the moment we arrived. Having two bedrooms and two bathrooms made it especially comfortable, and the self-contained setup was ideal for our stay. The location is great for exploring the surrounding countryside while still feeling tucked away and tranquil. We truly enjoyed our time here and would happily stay again. Highly recommended.

Lovely, large apartment great for exploring the Scottish Borders
Owner was very helpful when I found myself in need of a doctor. The apartment is incredibly spacious and the welcome basket very generous. In a somewhat isolated area so it was really quiet and peaceful.

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are in fact very close to many interesting activities and castles and 3 miles from Dawyck Botanic Garden. Edinburgh is 3/4 hour and our prices are a fraction of the capital. Peebles is a very attractive town and Glentress is a welknown for its biking trails , particularly favoured by young people.
We had a warm welcome in a comfortable accomodation with a lot of space, including table tennis in the hallway.
The area is rather remote, but interesting to discover.

Thank you for your review. The area is a National Scenic Area that is protected because of the wild life and the proximity to the River Tweed. We have red squirrels, deer, hares and many rare birds and moths.
We are just 2 miles from the Moffat to Edinburgh A701 which is a renowned route that has scenic views and only 29 miles from Edinburgh.
This is a large flat furnished with everything you need for a holiday. The host is friendly and proactive, and she provides enough food for your first day and first breakfast. The countryside setting is beautiful and extremely quiet. Highly recommended!

Great stay in the Tweed Valley
The apartment was huge and extremely well equipped for our three night stay. We loved that Denise provided some basic foodstuffs which served us very nicely. We are on an extended vacation so the clothes washer and drying facilities were great. We also loved the Peebles area.

Lovely home stay in a terrific part of Scotland
My husband and I spent 6 nights at Merlindale and had a wonderful stay. There is plenty to do in the area within a couple of hours drive. The home itself is very comfortable with many thoughtful details. Denise is a warm, friendly host with excellent advice to make your stay a terrific one.
Very well equipped for four, with separate entry to our flat in the original servants quarters at the back of the house. Enjoyed the table tennis opportunity! Excellent location for exploring the western Scottish Borders and day trips further afield.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review. Nothing pleases us more than the fact that our guests have had a relaxing holiday.
We have just had our 5 stars confirmed for another season by the Tourist Board.
I couldn't find fault with the welcome and facilities. It is a peaceful relaxing place but plenty nearby if you want more activity. A thoughtful collection of useful groceries was most welcome. The host communicated by messaging when needed. Will be happy to recommend this comfortable accommodation.
