This family home is full of character and period features. The main house dates back to the 1500s and is of traditional Devon long house construction. Oak beams, cob walls, ledge and brace doors and even horse hair plaster in some rooms are complemented by fresh Farrow and Ball colours, quality antique furniture and paintings throughout. With contemporary bathrooms, LCD TVs, broadband wifi, DVDs, board games, etc, every creature comfort has been considered.

If you looking for a very comfortable family home, full of character totally recommend this one. Heaps of Beaches, walks and pubs close by. We were there during winter and it was glorious with the fire and warm kitchen.
We stayed for three nights in this old house with a very beautiful artistic style and we enjoyed the interior and exterior and we thank the owner of the house.
We had a wonderful time staying here. The cottage and gardens are more beautiful then the pictures show. Plenty of games and toys to keep the kids entertained, and an abundance of space inside and outside. Would thoroughly recommend to stay.
What a terrific place to spend time with family or friends. Plenty of space; incredibly well equipped kitchen(s); wonderful combination of old and new. Beware the steps and stairs.
My family wanted a traditional Christmas setting and Hollands is exactly that. Log burner, gorgeous tree and decs, dining room table seats 10 easily, kitchen table also lovely for family breakfasts next to the Aga. Huge kitchen counter and plenty of food and drink storage areas. House is much bigger than it looks in the photos. Altogether a fabulous stay xx
We had a wonderful stay at Holland’s. The house is warm and comfortable. The surrounding views especially from the ‘lookout’ were spectacular.
We were comfortable in our beds and children would love the ‘hide-hole’ beds, the toys and the lovely garden.
We celebrated a family birthday during our stay, with so much space in both the house and garden it is just right for a party or event..
We certainly hope to return in the future. It was a real home from home and well situated to visit the beaches and quaint villages and Quays here in North Devon.

Lovely interesting cottage with attractive immediate surroundings
Nice property but a few things lacking:
Not enough showers, especially if cottage full to capacity, 1 kettle and 1 two slice toaster, inadequate and no small waste bins in bathrooms and bedrooms and disappointed that there was no welcome pack.
Absolutely amazing cottage in the middle of the countryside. Stunning views and central to most beaches etc.
We had a large family group, with 4 generations and there was ample room for all 13 of us. We enjoyed sitting together and sharing meals in both the kitchen and the dining room, in the evenings we all gathered around the fire in the sitting room to play family quizzes and games.
I would highly recommend this hidden gem and we will certainly be returning again soon.
A group of friends and I rented this beautiful thatched cottage for a weekend of reading books. It was very cold outside but we enormously enjoyed sitting around the fire reading and preparing big meals in the wonderfully spacious kitchen. Communication from the hosts was exemplary and it was clear that a lot of thought and care had gone into the experience of their guests. I can't really speak to the surrounding area because we spent most of the time indoors but it was absolutely perfect for our needs - thanks!
Hollands was a lovely holiday home for the week with four teens and two adults. Beautiful garden and curious bullocks in the surrounding fields entertained us. There are board games, table tennis, books and TV for wetter weather. The house is lovely and cool when it's hot outside and the Aga in the kitchen keeps that warm when needed. The bedrooms are all a good size and beds comfy. Kitchen knives could do with sharpening as the but that is the only issue we had! A great base from which to explore the local Devon coast and countryside and a lovely village pub nearby.
We had such an amazing time at the cottage. It was perfectly set up for our group of 14 family members - 9 adults and 5 children (and a dog). The kids absolutely loved the treehouse, the ping pong and board games. They also adored playing hide and seek all around the cottage and beautiful gardens. They even learned to throw the boomerang! The adults all had an incredible time and the cottage was so well set up for a comfortable family reunion. Every single one of us loved it and we can't thank you guys enough. It's a charming place to stay and we were all very sad to leave!
Stunning thatched cottage in the heart of the North Devon countryside. Perfect for 3 generations with lots of space and a lovely garden. Everything provided for a stress free stay including bikes, toy cupboard and surf boards for the grandchildren. One suggestion, perhaps a small sign at top of road as we drove straight past it! Would highly recommend Hollands to anyone looking for an escape from the grind of daily life.
We have just had the loveliest much needed family Christmas at Holland. Lovely decorated tree in situ, cosy rooms and a kitchen big enough for everyone to do their bit towards Christmas lunch! Thank you so much for having us all.
Lovely few days on a short break with our daughters. Delightful quirky cottage and gardens set in a very quiet countryside. We were very lucky with weather in November and enjoyed a couple of days at Saunton and Croyde, Enjoyed sitting around the clean spacious kitchen and sitting around log burner plaigsmes snd relaxing,
My family and I, total of eleven, spent a week here, and it was nothing short of fantastic. An absolutely wonderful family home set in beautiful grounds. After a really horrid year we've spent a lovely week catching up with family and making memories we won't forget. Would absolutely recommend.

Overall, great location for exploring North Devon and the property was an excellent size for seven adults. The house is super charming, we loved cooking breakfasts on the Aga and sitting around the long farmhouse table. The gardens are so lovely to walk around and sit and read in, and it's a novelty to have such friendly cows greet you every time you return home. The only thing we felt lacking was some communal space aside from the kitchen table for us all to comfortably gather as a group, especially since we were quite unlucky with the weather so unable to spend much time outside. Otherwise, we couldn't have asked for a better stay.
