The beach is 300m away (5 minutes walk) and the nearest mini-market is 50m away. Alvor is a much loved traditional Portuguese fishing village, full of character, with whitewashed buildings, cobbled streets, food market and church. There are several golf courses nearby (Alto and Penina) and others within a short drive (Palmares and Morgado). Also nearby are the busy towns of Portimao (5 minutes drive), the historical town of Silves, with its castle and cathedral (20 minutes drive) and the cosmopolitan town of Lagos (25 minutes drive).
