Beautiful location. Extremely peaceful, just what we required. Within easy distance of Widemouth Bay and Bude, perfect for the teenagers for body boarding.
The house itself was beautifully presented and large with a superb garden.
Highly recommend this property. Lots of space and quiet location

We are glad you had a good holiday with your family. Unfortunately there's not much we can do about the weather.
Really pleasant cottage with lots of space for a large family.
Wonderful coastline minutes away
Rachel & Chris we’re very helpful when needed and provided useful information ahead of our arrival.
The cottage could better accommodate larger parties with a larger fridge and more crockery, but they’re minor details.
Thank you for a lovely holiday
Es hat alles super geklappt und das Haus ist wirklich schön mit einem tollen Garten. Wir haben dort mit 2 Familien gewohnt uns hatten genug Platz für alle.

Fantastic place to stay in Cornwall
Stayed here with a few friends and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. A ~15 minute walk from Crackington Haven and its little beach which is a lovely place to spend a day, or the Coombe Barton Inn where you can sit with a drink in the evening and watch the sun go down below the sea's horizon.
Beyond Crackington, it's a stone's throw from plenty of attractions, such as Dartmoor, where we spent a day, Bude, Port Isaac, Boscastle. The southern end of Cornwall is within reach for a day trip and we spent a day in St Ives (approx 1hr30 drive).
The barn is well furnished and comfortable with all the accoutrements you could ask for, and Rachel, Chris, and their family were very welcoming and within reach if we needed anything, but equally not overbearing.
I'd recommend this to anyone and I'm sure we'll be back in the future!

Beautiful and spacious house in a great location for exploring north Cornwall
I stayed here with my family (7 adults in total) for several nights in December 2017. The house was perfect for us, spacious yet cosy (especially with the wood burner on!), with lots of character. Very clean, and a well-equipped kitchen. The location is fantastic - easy to find yet tucked away in a lovely rural location, not far from the coast and well placed for exploring north Cornwall - we visited Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow which were all only a short drive away. I would highly recommend this property.

Lovely place with all facilities
We rented The Mealhouse over Christmas. The property was everything we hoped for and more- beautiful place in a beautiful setting with nice views. All the rooms were spacious and kitchen was fully equipped for visitors. The games and books were a pleasant surprise and we all loved the wood burner with the skylight above to watch the rain (there was a lot of rain!!).
Our group was made up of 3 young couples and 3 toddlers. Everyone had a good time.
Owners Rachel and Chris were also a pleasure to deal with though we didn't get to meet them in person.
We would definitely recommend The Mealhouse and would be happy to stay here again should we visit the area again.

Overall our stay at the Mealhouse was fantastic, a beautiful peaceful retreat. The house offers amble space and is well consider to meet all needs. It is well equipped and we cooked every evening. Our beds were extremely comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Loved having the wood burning stove we had to use it even though the weather was beautiful. We even sat outside and had tea and cake. Plenty of walks locally that offer both woodland and coastal experiences with spectacular views, we were lucky to see an owl and a falcon, both very close to us. Here nature is at its finest. We did a number of different walks from the 'Short Walks in north Cornwall' and each one offered such wonderful views and sights.
We will be back.

About the host
Hosted by RACHEL AND CHRIS CROCKER
Chris and Rachel are farmers and have enjoyed hosting guests for farmhouse B&B and in their cottages for many years. We live nearby and farm the land at Hallagather [where Rachel grew up] and where Mealhouse is located. We converted the lovely stone barn which was previously a grain store, corn mill and cow shed in 2000 when it had become redundant as a farm building. We really enjoy travelling but are always happy to return home and appreciate how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful location and it's a pleasure to share this with our guests.
