About this property
Gatecroft Barn & Spa, Garrigill. Cute, quirky pet friendly barn with private spa
This cosy property has completely exclusive use of on-site private spa which was purpose built February 2020, featuring 6 seat hot tub, sauna, and seating area.
This 17th century barn has loads of character and has recently been refurbished to include feature bedrooms.
The open plan lounge and kitchen are traditionally furnished with log burner ( supplied with ample logs and kindling ) with comfy leather sofas, plus dining table that can fold out to cater for up to 6 people. The compact kitchen area includes a Belfast sink, hob, built in oven, microwave, Tassimo coffee machine, fridge and dishwasher..
The large upstairs master bedroom with double bed has exposed stone wall and wooden rafters, with shower room. Chest storage includes games and toys.
The second bedroom, on the ground floor built in to the bunkhouse towards the rear of the property which is decorated and furnished in a rustic railway cabin style, with industrial feature lighting. The bed is a completely enclosed built in raised double cabin bed and also includes cabin lighting, smart TV and PS3 plus games. Underneath is a pull out single trundle bed on wheels ideal for a child.
The separate spa is next door to the property, and consists of a wet room, seating area, and 6 person indoor hot tub.
Stone walled garden and off street parking with decking area to the side of the property patio overlooking beautiful scenery. The decking area comprises pergola, hand crafted barrel style BBQ/smoker and enamelled barrel seating.
It's a 2 minute walk to the local church, and very small shop/post office, and only a 3 minute walk to the local Village Hall, where there are events throughout the year - craft fayres, fetes, cream teas etc.
There is ample off road parking, as well as secure gated drive. Garden seating area is also walled and gated for the security of smaller pets and young children.
Ideal if you are looking for peace and quiet, and a place to relax.
Gatecroft is perfect for nature lovers. With stunning views of fells and rural farmland the area is rich in wildlife - grouse, pheasant, hare, red squirrel and more. Ashgill Force is only a very short walk from the property which is directly on the Pennine Way. Many fabulous walking opportunities within very easy reach. Due to the rural environment guests are advised that footpaths, where they exist, may not be suitable for pushchairs, buggies, or wheel chairs, and that for very young children a walking carrier may be advisable.

Why they chose this property
We visited the area a number of times with friends and just loved it.
The scenery is beautiful at any time of year, in any weather, but the walks up to the waterfall in winter are breath-taking, and it's wonderful to watch the salmon swimming up stream in the autumn literally 50 metres from the house.
We've always found the people in Garrigill extremely welcoming, and there are regular events - craft fairs, fireworks nights, Garrigill gala, carol singing, and even quoits in the summer
