Overlooking the Green in beautiful Reeth, this lovely apartment makes a charming place to return to after exploring the gorgeous Dales countryside. The living room, with its comfy leather sofas looks out over the village and hills beyond. It has a pretty fireplace which can be used for open fires on cool evenings (newly installed Central Heating ensures a constant warm welcome) The spacious kitchen, with quality oak table ensures that you can dine in comfort and with a view! The beautiful bedrooms with dark beamed ceilings and lovely comfortable beds complete the picture of this relaxing retreat.
There is so much to do in the surrounding area with many walks for all levels of fitness. There are castles to be explored, market towns to visit, rivers to play in and old mines and caves to capture your imagination. However long you stay there will always be something you have not explored to tempt you back again.

Cosy space in a perfect location

Our kids (8 and 5) were beyond excited when they realised we were staying above the ice cream parlour. Apart from immediate access to delicious ice cream every day the cottage had everything we needed. A super spacious kitchen and comfortable rooms. As others have mentioned the views from the window seats were perfect for people watching. We did a lovely walk down to the river and stepping stones (5km loop) passing the playground which was another great bonus. The village had everything we needed- two pubs, a shop, a warren of a toy shop and a football net up on the village green which our kids played at for hours. Highly recommend.

Relaxing Holiday Appartment

Lovely accommodation in the best spot for Reeth. Sarah is a great host, just let’s you get on with it, but is there for anything you need. We have stayed there a number of times and it is perfect.

A super holiday!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Reeth. The apartment was perfectly placed for all that Swaledale has to offer, with views across the village green to the hills above. The welcome we received from hostess Sarah was excellent and her comfortable apartment offered everything that we needed. All this & a lovely ice-cream parlour downstairs too. Thank you very much!

2 Days in Reeth

Such a cute cottage that epitomized Yorkshire dales living. Well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, and living room furniture. It was really fun to be staying above an ice-cream parlour of delicious ice cream. Host was lovely and nearby if we needed anything. The boiler was a little hard to work and the cottage did get cold but we eventually found instructions on how to work it so the only feedback would be to leave those instructions in a more obvious place.

Great accommodation, great host, great location.

From my title you’ll probably realise we had a very positive experience in this property, situated above the owners ice cream parlour, overlooking the green in the lovely village of Reeth. The accommodation is technically on 3 levels: entering by the front door and straight up a set of stairs to the bathroom/toilet, a very comfortable lounge and a lovely kitchen dining area. The kitchen, although we didn’t cook any large meals in it, was very well equipped and the freezer, a counter top one, was big enough for a bag of ice, wine cooler sleeves and a bottle of bubbly. The next level housed the two bedrooms, a twin and a double (not king size) which were all very comfortable. We met our host, Sarah, on a couple of occasions, although only very briefly, as she was run off her feet in the ice cream parlour. There is parking alongside the property for one car but it is tight, depending on the size of your car. We visited all 3 pubs, The Buck Inn for food (extensive menu and well cooked food - worth booking a table), the other two for drinks. We also visited two of the coffee shops/ cafes/ bistros which were excellent as well as one of the two village bakers. Use Tripadvisor to get a better idea of what these establishments have to offer. Reeth is well placed to visit many well known places in the northern Dales and is a haven for walkers and cyclists. I would thoroughly recommend this property. We will be returning, probably in a couple of years, as we have other areas of the Dales we wish to discover.

Beautiful Reeth

Clean and tidy flat above the Ice Cream Parlour, comfortable lounge with a great vista. It has a well appointed kitchen and lovely bedrooms. Sarah was a lovely host, always on hand in the parlour. We would certainly return.

Cosy Home from Home

The ice cream armour apartment is the perfect place to stay in Reeth. The views from the window seats are spectacular, great walking from the door whatever the weather and then a cosy home to come back to after a day in the air. Ice creams, cakes and coffee on the doorstep too!

Brilliant apartment right in the heart of Reeth. Spacious, well appointed and really homely. Great views of the village and Fremington. Lovely owner who is friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault the apartment at all. We will definitely be back!

Great short stay in excellent location

Accommodation above ice cream parlour was perfect for our 2 night stay. Comfortable and warm with a large lounge and kitchen and two good bedrooms on the top floor. Sarah was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Good choice of pubs in the village for food and plenty of walking in the area. We would definitely stay again.

Peter and I have owned the Ice Cream Parlour in Reeth for 20 years, since we married in 1999. We bought the property to be our first home as well as a business. We were very happy living in the apartment and loved watching every detail of Reeth life through the two lovely front windows! The Ice Cream Parlour has been an enjoyable business to run. We meet very many interesting and different people who return year after year. We now have two children who are growing fast and an opportunity arose to move to a larger property across the Green. We refurbished the apartment and feel that it offers a lovely relaxing place to enjoy a holiday in Swaledale.

It is a quirky property with a very happy history. It is lovely to drive out of Richmond and into the hills, the scenery getting steadily more dramatic and beautiful.

Cuckoo Hill Apartment is in the centre of Reeth. It is an interesting and lively village with plenty of places to eat. There are craft shops, a post office, corner shops and bakery. There is a lovely children's play park with stunning views across to the swing bridge and River Swale. Many walks of varying lengths start from the village and bike hire is available from the nearby cycle centre at Fremington.
