We had such a relaxing time. It was so beautiful there. The lake was so clear and and gorgeous wish it had been warmer we were dying to swim in it. We fished, canoed, kayaked. We loved that they had everything available to take down to the water. The camp fire was amazing and they had a generous supply of wood. The Flat top grill was awesome to cook on and the whole little set up around the grill with the table and a fridge and the lights were just perfect. We spent almost all of our time down around the fire and the dock. Getting down to the docks were a little harder for the older ones and we didn’t know we had to supply our own toilet paper other than that we loved all of it! Such a great long weekend!!!
We rented two cabins for 11 people. Plenty of room. They are both well equipped with kitchen stuff, games, boats, fire pits, docks. Crystal clear water. Had fun swimming, kayaking, floating, fishing, walks. Lots of space for dogs to run free. All 3 generations of the family enjoyed it. Everyone wants to come back next year.
We had good time at the camp. The place setting was perfect for multiple families, with two separate accommodations we were able to comfortably sleep 10 members.
The lake access (and included canoe/kayak were bonus).
Cell phone reception was not there and so was WiFi - which was a limiting factor at times, but did allow for sole quality time with everyone. We got to enjoy board games and fire pit in the evenings.
Will look to go there again.
oh wow I love this place. So in the middle of nowhere, nice quiet simple. I like that there is no Wifi, that the lake is super clean, the fire pit was wonderful and large and that there was plenty of watercrafts. 14 of us had just enough beds with room for blow ups if we needed them. Can't wait to stay again!
It was great to visit home after 13 years of not being able to due to work and duty stations. This was a great camp to rent and stay at, and allowed me to show my children and husband how I grew up on this lake! My parents were able to visit and my dad was able to teach my children to fish it was fantastic. Thank you for allowing me to give my children memories they will never forget!
Lovely Rustic Cottages on Beautiful Lakefront Property
Our large family group stayed for a week in August of 2020. Overall, we were all pleased with the property and it met expectations based on the photos, reviews and property description seen on VRBO. The lake is gorgeous and the various boating equipment was a hit with all. We would definitely considering returning in the future.
I was surprised that the owners didn't reach out with any additional information prior to our stay. A general email (or welcome book) about check-in & check-out times, recycling/trash, the road conditions & water potability would have been helpful. We relied on what was provided thru VRBO for general information. Mostly, we had pleasant surprises (like the availability of A/C) but some info- like the arrival time (we could have arrived 4 hours earlier!) and bedroom set-ups was not accurate. That said, I did contact the owner about some specific questions and received expedient replies to the questions I asked. Overall, a good experience!
Lake and property situation was amazing, owners met us at arrival and had both dwelling fireplaces running for us, so nice. We enjoyed the outdoor areas the most especially the awesome outdoor firepit where our family hung out for many hours. Hope to return on another fall weekend or perhaps a summer week If I can arrange a group.
thanks so much,

I rented both cabins for a family get together. It was a perfect getaway and we had a wonderful time. It is unbelievable how clear the lake is…truly beautiful! We were in the water all day and used all the paddle boards, kayaks, blow up rafts, and the floating swim dock. We enjoyed being unplugged and spent the nights playing games and making smores at the fire pit. There was a new TV with a DVD player but we never used it. The cabins are clean, comfortable and well stocked with all the kitchen items you may need. Space is a bit of an issue as the bedrooms are not much bigger than the size of the bed. Although there is limited storage space for clothing and food and a few decorative furnishings that took up space, we made it work and my group of 12 was able to fit between the two cabins. There is a wood fire pit in front of the small cabin and a gas fire pit in front of the large cabin. The dock in front of the small cabin has sun for most of the day while the dock in front of the large cabin is shaded all day. Sturdy shoes are recommended as the areas around the cabins/docks can be steep and rocky in places. The large cabin has two ceiling fans and two of the bedrooms came with a window fan but I recommend bringing extra small window fans for the other bedrooms. Bringing your own drinking water is no big deal as the water from the lake can be used for showering, brushing teeth, and cooking. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful getaway…this is the place!
Janie and Bill have a magnificent piece of property to share with anyone looking for a lakeside, wooded getaway. The large camp, which can sleep 8, is quaint, yet big enough to host a crowd, with an incredible dining area that overlooks the lake. The small camp can sleep about 6 more people, so this is a great property for a large family or even two, as each camp has its own kitchen. The lake is gorgeous, one of the clearest lakes I've ever been in, and the remoteness of the camp makes you feel like you're really off the beaten path. There are paddle boards, kayaks, and a canoe so you can further explore the lake. The sound of loons calling to each other makes it that much more magical. Janie was extremely accommodating and answered all my calls and questions. This is the perfect spot for anyone looking to escape the busy world and recharge their batteries. Thank you Janie and Bill for sharing it with us!

We had the BEST time at this beautiful peaceful lake side retreat! We can’t wait to come back!!!
We did not want to leave this beautiful place! It was the perfect place for a family get together. The owners Janie and Bill are so nice and easy to work with. They responded quickly to all our questions and provided us with all the information we needed to plan our trip. The cabins were very clean, well equipped, & adorably decorated! The linens were provided and the comfortable beds were all made up. The beautiful fireplaces heated the cabins very well and made for cozy mornings and evenings. There were 12 of us and we rented both cabins. We had plenty of space and were able to have large family dinners. We enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, and a couple of us even jumped in the crystal clear lake on this late September weekend. The lake truly is peaceful and tranquil. There is a large fire pit which made for spectacular bonfires. It was so fun. We are planning to come back and can’t wait! We would definitely recommend this place and give it a 5 Star+ Rating. It far surpassed our expectations! We absolutely loved it!!

Wonderful!
Best lake i have ever been to! Clean! Peaceful! The large cabin fit my family perfectly. 6 adults and 2 kids ages 4 and 5. We had 3 dogs with us as well. Owners, nicest people ever. We fished and kayaked and relaxed. Plan on no wifi or service. Even with Verizon, it was iffy. Other things to keep in mind, no AC-bring fans! Shared fire pit and hammock with the smaller cabin. If you don't rent both, its kind of awkward laying in their hammock or being on their side by their fire. Especially when you just want to be with your family. We ended up leaving the camp and getting our own fire pit. No gas grill, just charcoal. Bring plenty of drinking water. If you have kids that love to play in the sand-there is no beach on property, we ended up using the boat launch next door which was fine because no one else was around. There are steps into the water with a nice dock and deck overlooking the water. We brought portable little tvs with dvd players (like the kind you have on the back of your seats in your car) for the kids, which was perfect. Adults loved being remote! Town isnt far away. Beautiful fireplace inside the cabin, we did have 1 cold night so that was nice to have a fire. We certainly cant wait to be back!

Just wonderful!
If you want a little bit of paradise this is it. Owner Jane is responsive and welcoming. Accurate description of property, the setting is breathtaking and you will spend most of your time outdoors. You will need to bring your own water but not a big deal. We loved not having WiFi or tv. Bring good sturdy shoes to navigate getting around to docks. We brought water shoes that worked well for swimming also. Almost didn’t want to write this review because don’t want to share this hidden gem, but wouldn’t do that to sweet Jane.

Exactly what we wanted. Very few neighbors - the neighbors that are close are so friendly!
The cabins are great. The large cabin has a large sitting space. The fire pit is the best! We loved sitting by the fire in the evening next to the lake. The lake is super clear and warm. Even our little kids could swim for hours. The raft was great. And lots of floating crafts ie, paddle boards, canoe, kayak etc. Kitchens are well equipped. We will return!

A lovely family camp
We have vacationed all over Maine and Vermont for the last 20 years and never have we stayed on such a lovely lake--the clearest in all of Vermont, according to the friendly neighbors. The camp road in (2 1/2 miles long) can be a bit of a challenge, but the peace and quiet at the end of the road is worth it. The swimming was ideal, and we made good use of the two docks, the deck, and the raft. The bottom of the lake is shale, but there are stepping stones that protect the feet. There were lots of water craft provided, along with life jackets. Our party of 9 stayed in both cabins, so were able to spread out nicely. There was limited space for storage, but the kitchens were both well equipped. Be prepared to unplug--there is no WiFi, and no DVD player. We spent our time instead star gazing and hanging around the wonderful, huge, fire pit. Furnishing are rustic and camp-like, and parts of both cabins are a bit dark, but the sun seekers among us were able to find brighter nooks for reading. It is a haul to the nearest well, anything, but once we were lakeside we didn't really want to leave anyway. Bill and Janie were warm and welcoming, and stopped by mid week, and as we were leaving, to make sure that all was well and that we had what we needed. As long as we can convince our teenagers that being unplugged is a good thing, we will be back!

Hidden Gem
The owners were very friendly and helpful. We rented the larger of the two cabins which was roomy and very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 small children. We had access to two docks, a fire pit, kayaks, a canoe, paddle boards and a paddle boat! We loved swimming in the crystal clear water. It was also awesome that this rental is dog-friendly. We'll definitely try to stay here again.

Almost Paradise
Being able to get up every morning and dive into a crystal clear lake is one of life's true treasures. On Sunset Lake, you're as close to nature as you can get, situated next to a wildlife reserve. While that may not guarantee encounters with bears and elks, you will see and hear frogs, newts, turtles, fish, and incredible birds of prey, like the Osprey, taking a nose-dive for the rainbow trout. As for the property, Bill and Jane were welcoming hosts who took trouble to show us where everything was and how everything worked. The cabins are comfortable but basic. These properties have seen plenty of summers' worth of marauding families but were well stocked with kitchenware and other kit. Also a major plus: 2 kayaks, a canoe and a paddleboat. However, the rooms could use some cupboard space for clothes. The water supply comes straight from the lake. It's clean enough to bathe in or boil, but bring plenty of bottled water for drinking. Bill and Jane, thank you again. Your prices are reasonable and we will be happy to return.

Great cabins on beautiful glacier lake
Both of the cabins are very beautiful and very well equipped. Everything we needed to cook our meals throughout the week was there. The cabins had lots of bedrooms and they had a dining areas where you can play games with the family which was a lot of fun.
The property included a lot of Lake frontage. There was a kayak, canoe, paddlle boards and paddle boat which we used everyday. The water was amazing, so crystal clear that you can see straight down to the bottom. We caught four rainbow trout and one lake trout. Our family had a great week on the lake and hope to return soon.

Lovely!
This is an absolutely wonderful spot on Sunset Lake - quiet, secluded, beautiful.
When I first booked the property, I thought that I was getting both cottages which were listed. This turned out not to be the case as the smaller of the two was under renovation and then booked by family members. I had originally planned on using both, but it turned out to be great in the end. Just be sure when you rent!
Please note that this is not a house as such - while there is fully stocked and outfitted kitchen, the bedrooms are small and there is one bathroom. This was perfect for us as the lake was the main draw. And I cannot say enough about this gem of a lake. It is peaceful, gorgeous, crystal clear, and full of fish.
There are family members throughout the camp and they were all incredibly helpful and accommodating. When we ran out of propane during a huge rainstorm, they jumped in to help and dinner was saved! They even tolerate my dog's barking from their dock at the fish!
Wonderful spot and hit just the right notes if you want to get away from it all.

Beautiful Lake - Lake Sunset
If you are looking for a place where you want to stay away completely from the Technologies like Mobile Phones, Wifi & have a peaceful stress free vacation, you are at the right place. Beautiful crystal clear water lake - Lake Sunset will take all your stress out. This will be like you own a private lake, you, your family & the lake.. Cabin has got 4 bedrooms , spacious Living room & Porch with a beautiful lake view & fully loaded Kitchen. We all skipped the original plan of spending time in Lake george (which is just 32 miles from this place), we spent our entire time in this place itself.
Owners Bill & Jane are very kind & helpful, we will not forget their hospitality. will definitely visit again..

Quiet Paradise
What a beautiful getaway! You can be as connected or removed as you like. The lake is the cleanest, most picture perfect lake I have ever seen. The water is crisp and clear with very few others around so it is like your own private oasis. The indoor living space is ideal with numerous sleeping spaces, cooking facilities, and nice hot water for showers. As nice as the indoor space is, the outdoor space is where you will want to spend your time! The picnic tables, hammock, fire pit and covered deck are all places you will want to spend time- that is if you don't spend all of your time on the deck taking in the views. It is a beautiful place to be with gorgeous views during the day and no light pollution for star watching at night.
If you want to venture out, the little nearby town is quaint and a nice day trip. My other sights are close by for day trips, including breweries, but the cabin has all you will need for your getaway.
This is a great place for a family vacation where your kids won't even realize they are "unplugged" for the week since they have so much to do!

What a wonderful, quiet, peaceful place to relax. If you love the outdoors, this place is just what you are looking for! It's right on the lake with beautiful views, the lake is clean, and there is a dock to jump off of, or sit and have your coffee. We loved this place and will go back in the future!
