About this property
Lovely Lodge in the woods overlooking Mounts Bay. Sleeps 6. Private parking.
Although this beautiful Lodge is in a very private location, nestled close by woods and overlooking sea and stream, it is very centrally placed to all west Cornwall's best tourist locations. The 3 bedrooms and private, safe location make it perfect for extended families, couples and groups of friends. We pride ourselves on keeping the Lodge clean and welcoming and are on hand should you need any help or information. Inside the Lodge is a lot of local information including recommendations for places to eat and visit, as well as where to get some wonderful local food such fresh fish straight from the boats in the little fishing port of Newlyn. The pretty village of Gulval is 5 minutes walk away with a good pub with a child friendly menu.
The Lodge is very suitable for children with a large walk in shower, lots of books and many games, including a table tennis set that goes on the large dining table, this proves very popular what ever the weather! In the single bedroom is a good selection of toys for younger children. We also provide a travel cot and high chair. The kitchen area is well equipped with a fridge freezer, microwave, electric cooker and washing machine. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils so you should have everything you need. It has verandas to the front and back and an enclosed garden with a barbecue. There is private parking for 3 cars. Although the Lodge is all on one level there are 8 wooden steps up to the front door.
As we are half way way up a steep hill it is probably best if you have your own transport although we have had several groups of visitors who have come by train and had a very successful stay using public transport, taxi and walking. It has panoramic sea views to the front but to the side and rear are woods and orchards giving it a rural feel, you can often hear owls at night.
Penzance is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk with its range of restaurants and nightlife. We are in a perfect position to explore the wonderful beaches of Penwith and the famous coast path which passes by St Michael's Mount through the idyllic fishing village of Mousehole onto Lamorna Cove before reaching the towering and dramatic granite cliffs of Lands End. If you enjoy surfing then we are 15 minutes away from Sennen, Hayle and St Ives. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to culture with the famous Tate gallery in St Ives and excellent galleries in Newlyn and Penzance. Penzance has it's own thriving theatre and cinema. Penwith also has more ancient sites than any where in the country with many stone circles, dolmens and fogous.

About the host
Hosted by Mandy Reid

Hello, my name is Mandy and I live with my partner Ronnie on our 3 acre smallholding. My 4 grandchildren love coming to visit the chickens and rabbits and they are always enthusiastic helpers when it comes to harvesting the raspberries and strawberries! I've worked as a teaching assistant in the village school 5 minutes down the hill for the last 14 years so I feel very much part of the community. When I'm not in the garden, I enjoy cooking with the produce and most craft activities. Ronnie and I love walking on the glorious southwest footpath but I can't say we are dedicated walkers as our outings tend to be planned round plenty of stops for pub lunches and cream teas!
Why they chose this property
I feel we are in the perfect position, half way up a hill overlooking the sea but in the the country. Very rural but 5 minutes walk into a pretty village and 5 minutes drive into historic Penzance with all its facilities and amenities. We are centrally placed for St Ives and Lands End and we very close to St Michaels Mount and the beautiful secluded, coastal villages of Mousehole and Zennor .On a practical note, we are within easy reach of 3 supermarkets, 2 being a comfortable walking distance and all three less than 5 minutes drive. we are a 5 minute drive to the train station or a 20 minute walk.
What makes this property unique
West Cornwall is (in my opinion!) one of the most beautiful places you are likely to visit with its beautiful sandy coves, rugged coastline and soaring granite cliffs. Whether you enjoy walking, surfing or just lying on a glorious beach soaking up the sun and the view , you will be in heaven here! Inland offers some unique attractions too, with the wild moors full of stone circles and prehistoric iron age villages.
