The house situated in colorful natural surroundings provides the guest with seclusion without the feeling of isolation as the centre of the island is a short drive away (1,5km) or can easily be reached within 15' of leisurely walk.
The original building dates back a century ago but was renovated to provide facilities that match today's needs. The hosts have tried to keep the decoration style according to the Ionian tradition with antique furniture and rustic details.
The yard or garden provides shade and relaxation while it can accomodate pets, upon request.
Guests naturally have access to all areas of the premises, living room, ensuite kitchenette with all electric appliances available and bathroom, along with the front yard and garden belonging to it and are welcome to share the back yard for utility purposes ( laundry or washing).
Directions for access to the house from the port can be organised upon request, or explained in detail by phone or email.

The hostess' cottage is situated next to the house in case of emergency, without it meaning a disruption to the guest"s privacy.
The master bedroom includes airconditioning and the other rooms are fitted with extra strong fans but as the house is stone built it is usually cool throughout the day and surely over the night.
Smoking is not allowed in the house-you are always welcome to do so in the yard and the garden.
Depending on the period or time of arrival, the hosts or a person acting on their behalf will be available for any info the guests may want to ask and find helpful.
In any case, useful tips of advice on do's and don't's will always be taken care of.

I am glad that I chose this accommodation on beautiful Paxos. It is ideal for a family because it offers a peaceful environment with plenty of space in and around the house to enjoy summer. It was a pleasure and joy for us to live in an authentic space decorated with care and love. Island life in a real island house. It was unforgettable and I believe that we will return at the first opportunity. Thank you Maggie!

Enjoyed our stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the Casa di Nonna Nina. Maggie was a superb host who kept in frequent contact with us and provided very helpful beach and dinner suggestions. The house itself is rustic and charming. We stayed at the height of the heatwave so it was quite warm, but the air conditioning in the main bedroom worked fine. and fans kept the air circulating in the other bedroom and rest of the house. Wi-fi also worked very well. Having a general store a few steps away was practical. Recommended for an authentic Paxos island lodging experience!

Charming accommodation and accommodating host

We enjoyed our stay in Maggie’s house very much. It seemed typical of what local people normally live in and not a homogenised tourist offering. As such, kitchen and bathroom facilities were functional rather than slavishly fashionable. The very large living room was charmingly furnished. There were lovely beamed ceilings with tongue and groove boarding in most of the rooms. Casa di Nonna Nina was homely and welcoming as a place to come back to and relax after a busy day enjoying what Paxos has to offer. The house was well suited to the hot weather as its orientation, shading and solid walls kept us cool (not too cool) and so there was no need for aircon. Maggie was an excellent host. She made us very welcome and was a great source of information about Paxos, things to do, where to shop, who to contact and how to go about arranging things. She even introduced herself to us at Corfu airport when we arrived at approximately the same time from different directions. Maggie’s daughter was also helpful. Maggie’s place is located in Vellianitatika, a quiet village located about 1.5km from Gaios. It only takes about 20 minutes to walk to Gaios and there is a pleasant path that can be used as an alternative to the road most of the way. Vellianitatika is also only 500 metres from the west coast where there are lots of pleasant walks e.g. to Trypitos Arch, Lessiantis Windmill and Avlaki beach. We particularly enjoyed snorkelling round the rocks at the sea end of the Avlaki beach inlet. There is a bus stop conveniently located near Vellianitatika and so Lakka and Loggos, as well as all places between, are easy to get to without the need for a car.

Robert Baylis'family were the guests a host could wish to have. Easy-going, discreet, smiling, eager to learn and overly kind, they were a nice company to chat about all sort of things. May all hosts have families as such, who respect the house they permanently stay, as if it were their own, leaving every single thing intact after their departure.. Seasoned travelers, not in the mood of posh surroundings and lavish interiors, but with a drive to travel and see the land they are visiting from its people's perspective and not as if chosen from the illustrations of a holiday brochure Happy to have met them.

I'm Maggie, born in Athens but came here first time as this was my mother's homeland , when i was eight to spend my school break off season..Ever since we've been visiting this heaven on earth, raised my children here, over long, careless and totally safe summers, we made memories and precious friendships, well kept over the years-no matter which spot of the globe each of us lives- renovated our family house, bought another one and decided now that my three daughters have grown up to put our property up for renting

What makes this property unique

Unique features , I would say, its the seclusion and privacy the house offers, surrounded by tall olive trees, nestled among paths that lead to breathtaking views of the west coastline..
You will realize it when you visit the place that it really feels like a home away from home.
