"Tall Pines" Cosy, waterfront cottage on Stoney Lake.
“Tall Pines” is an updated cosy cottage built in the 1960’s situated on a peninsula. It is an ideal cottage for a family of 5 or 6, comfortably sleeping 4 adults. The cottage overlooks a bay and has its own private dock for fishing, swimming and relaxation. The cottage also has a lovely deck out front that can be used for relaxation and meals. There is a fire pit with benches on the point of the property. The cottage comes with a barbecue, paddle boat, small kayak and canoe. It is an excellent location for children, as the water is quite shallow along the shore and in the bay, and can also be weedy . This area is very popular for fishing. There is parking for several cars next to the cottage. The cottage has a double bed, a queen bed and bunk beds. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and working fireplace. Please note that Bruce and I have an island property, 10 minutes away by boat. We use Tall Pines as our road access to the Island Cottage and we assure you that we come and go very quickly and will cause very little disruption. We also use the parking area for ourselves and guests to our island cottage, plus we dock our boat in the boat shelter off the property.

Had a very enjoyable week at this very nice rustic cottage. Was clean and ready when I arrived. Highly recommended if you are looking for a true cottage feel.
A fantastic waterfront cottage on 1.2 Billion year old Canadian Shield, on a peninsula surrounded by old growth Pine forrest. This property is pure gold for landscape photography.
We had a great time - canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, some little swims, campfires, sunbathing 😀 The washroom was nice and new and the kitchen had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the vintage games, books and movies!
The property is as described , it is a cottage on a beautiful point of a bay back of the lake. The fire pit is on the point to enjoy the outside. There is a fireplace for warmth inside if needed. The lake has excellent fishing and has islands all over and lots of wildlife and was a great stay for me.
Weather was great except for 2 days. View was unbelievable & was very quiet. Cottage had everything you needed. Lake water you can't drink, bottle water is there for you to drink.
To to drink
Loved our stay at Tall Pines! A very cosy and traditional cottage with lots of character. Reminded us of our family cottages from years ago. Peaceful, beautiful surroundings to gaze at from the deck with a morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. Did not want to leave. Thank you!

First vacation in 11 years
The cottage was well equipped with all the comforts of home - including a tv and vhs tapes to watch when the weather turned. My kids loved swimming and exploring the property. The wildlife was amazing! Couldn’t ask for a more beautiful location. The managers were very easy to talk to and addressed any questions or concerns we had.
The property owners are nice, but they come and go from boat dock too much. This would be fine if the property were larger, but it's not so the owners are walking right thru your BBQ to get to their boat. Also cottage needs to be cleaned better. We didn't appreciate a machete (!!!) left in the cottage from previous guests, particularly with our toddler running around. On plus side: cottage is Canada rustic, property is nice and the swimming, though weedy, is great.

Thank you for your feedback Laura, we always appreciate constructive feedback from our guests.
We have never had a situation where a guest left a large knife behind, and unfortunately, because it was hidden out of the way, our cleaners did not find it. I really appreciated your cooperation when we let you know right away. that we were faced with having to locate the knife. Thank you for finding it, and I must add, it came well protected in a very secure, strong and well made holder, so there was no risk to anyone. I think we all handled it to the best of our ability.
Regarding your privacy and our presence, we do use the Tall Pines property for parking our car and also docking our boat. We try very hard to be discreet and try to walk at a good distance away from the Tall Pines cottage to our boat. We try to stick to the laneway which is approximately 15 feet away from the Barbeque and building. And we do indicate in the cottage instructions that our access is part of the rental. I am sorry that you found it intrusive.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful rest of the summer! Lee and Bruce
Very peaceful and the water is gorgeous 😍
Owners are very thoughtful and picked us fresh flowers, which was a wonderful surprise!
You can tell that Bruce and Lee put a lot of thought into making their guests comfortable with the fans and blankets and necessities provided.
Kitchen was fully stocked with equipment which was amazing! I also really appreciated having access to a clothesline.
We got a lot of use out of the indoor fireplace and was one of our favorite memories.
The lake was gorgeous with easy fishing, and at night stargazing is a must! 10/10 reccomend if you want peace and quite with gorgeous scenery.
I immediately fell in love with Tall Pines. It is exactly as described. A well cared for, clean and comfortable cottage with spectacular views. The waterfront is perfect for canoeing, kayaking and swimming or for just sitting and drinking in the beauty of nature. I loved having my morning coffee on the deck in the sun. The fireplace and outdoor fire pit are wonderful perks. Situated on a natural peninsula, there is plenty of privacy. Lee and Bruce were excellent hosts, friendly and responsive. I enthusiastically recommend this gem!
We enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing summer week at Tall Pines. The charming cottage, set on the scenic Trent-Severn Waterway near Burleigh Falls, was fully functional and well-equipped with everything we needed. In the morning, the sun bathed the front deck and living room in a warm light. Our bedroom was so close to the shore that reflections from ripples on the water cast patterns on the ceiling. The sheltered bay is ideal for calm paddling, yet close enough to the Stoney Lake channel for easy access to open water. Our hosts, Lee and Bruce, were very friendly and hospitable. We look forward to returning.
We had the time of our life. We rented the cottage to unwind and go hiking. Oh boy did we unwind. The veranda is simply heaven. You come out in the morning with a coffee and look over the lake. The location is amazing. We are not really water sport people but we used the canoe and the paddle boat and did a few loops around the nearby islands. The cottage has everything you need. Brand new bath room, fully equipped kitchen, even books and games. Its so cosy and homey, you don’t want to leave. Everything was very clean. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Thanks Lee and Bruce.
Location was great for a quiet getaway. Cottage has been partially renovated after storm damage last year. Bathroom is new. We enjoyed relaxing on the screen porch - our favourite spot to do jigsaw puzzles and listen to birdsong. Water has some weeds, so we did not swim, but we are not big swimmers anyway. We enjoyed canoeing - the location is perfect for that. Host was very friendly, and quickly dealt with any issues that came up. We would definitely consider coming back next year.
Unfortunately we cannot recommend vrbo to anyone, as we had numerous problems with them, but once we were able to communicate with the host directly everything turned out fine.
This was the perfect week-long getaway for our little family. The cottage was super clean and had all the amenities that you could ask for in a cabin. WE had a 4-year-old and an 18-month-old and they both had a blast. Cozy stay with an amazing lakefront view!
What an amazing property, right on the water with the most gorgeous view. Lots of water toys to play with and board games for rainy days. Fire pit right on the water and even an indoor fireplace in case it gets chilly. What more could you ask for? Hopefully we get a chance to come again.
This property is exactly as described. A true cottage. Nothing fancy but well equipped and comfortable.
Situated on a bay off of the main section of Stoney Lake, it is very quiet and relaxing. The water is too weedy for swimming right in front of the cottage in our humble opinion but we are city folk and not used to swimming in lake water.
There are lots of places to swim around the lake with Burleigh Falls only a 10 min boat ride away.
We brought our own tinny and small motor but the kids also enjoyed the canoe and paddle boat.
This is a beautiful property on a point so you get sun most of the day. You can have a coffee on the dock and watch the fish and move over to the fire pit area on the point for evening drinks.
There are a few golf courses in the area and the road into the cottage allows for a 5k walk/run out to the highway and back. You can cycle around Stoney Lake. Its about 60k. Half of the ride is on a fairly busy road but with a decent shoulder.
Best place for groceries is in Lakefield about 20 mins away. There is also a small convenience store about 5/7 min drive that has some basic essentials and is licenced for liquor and beer.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Tall Pines. Bruce and Lee were friensly, helpful and responsive to any questions. Thanka for allowing us to enjoy some family time on your beautiful property
Our family had a great time at Tall pines! Everything you need is there, and if you need something there are stores a 5 min drive away. The kids loved catching fish after fish all day long off the dock.
Property was as listed beautiful and airy. Perfect and what we expected
Had our grandson, having the use of a rowboat, canoe and kayak let us enjoy the surrounding the beautiful area liked that there was a fire pit that our grandson loved and also gave us some fun fishing. We rated this experience a 5 star. The owners were kind and very helpful. We would love to return next year for 2 weeks.
Our family of 5 had a great time at Tall Pines! We enjoyed the cottage & bunky, boats & lake.
Bruce & Lee were very helpful & accommodating!

"Tall Pines" is a family cottage that was purchased in 1963. Bruce and myself have enjoyed this cottage over the years up until a few summers ago. We have now purchased a cottage on an island, and travel to this from "Tall Pines". The residents of the cottage will admire majestic white pines and pink granite.
