The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for walking and the local pubs were good. The host responded quickly to enquiries and was very helpful. A lovely base for a great holiday.
We were pleasantly surprised by how good the accommodation in Yarn House is: the property is fully-equipped with top-quality equipment and appliances throughout, and the preparation/cleanliness was excellent. We would definitely recommend this property to others, and hope to stay there again in the future.
The location was amazing just what my friend and I needed, perfect for budding artists.
The beds were very comfortable and an amazing array of cooking implements which is not always the case. We felt a great deal of thought had been put into making it a home from home stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely spot. It was in a great location for exploring the Dales, and was very well-equipped and comfortable. We loved the Christmas decorations! Only downside was no towels provided.
We really loved Yarn House!
Three generations came to celebrate my mums birthday and we had the best weekend!
Everything you need is there and the house itself is wonderful!
The sound of the river was so relaxing and the short walk down into the village was very pleasant.
We can’t wait to come back!
A really lovely place to stay. We walked the 3 peaks and needed a cottage close to the route. The house was very comfortable, well stocked and very clear and helpful instructions. Lots of parking just round the corner. Also very close to Hawes with plenty of shops and food options. Perfect for us!
What a lovely property in the perfect location for Hawes and the surrounding area. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped with absolutely everything you could need. Would definitely return.
Very beautiful area and beautiful cozy country house, stream running in front of the house, short walk to Hawes Town which is lovely..
Lots of family/friend time games and drinks
Thank you
Cottage fitted the description. Hadn't realised it was so near Hawes. Hardly used the car, managed to walk to lots of places in the countryside as well as Hawes
Good location, cozy, well-equipped. Decent parking nearby. No noise from neighbours. 15 minute stroll to Hawes High Street. Limited space outdoors so no space for children to play outside. Easily accommodated 6 adults and 2 children.
lovely house in a great location. Took a while to get the house warm. the bedrooms are a little small in the twins for 2 adults, lots of crockery and cooking utensils in the kitchen. its in a fantastic position in the village and only a 10 minute walk in to Hawes. we would definaitely stay again.

Great review, many thanks, the house took awhile to warm up as a minor repair was needed on the boiler, so heating had been off for a few days. Apologies, would be great to see you again!
Well equipped & spacious townhouse style property in small hamlet of Gayle with the bonus of a lovely 10 min walk into the bustling market town of Hawes. Lots to do & see around the area as well as stunning countryside walks for all ages & abilities. Youngest enjoyed nothing more than playing in the beck just outside the front door. Gary & Samantha answered all our questions & gave lots of local info to help our stay, highly reccomend the property & location.
We had a great stay here and really enjoyed the area and the property. My only two things to flag that I would have changed. Were it was only very near our stay that we were informed we would need to bring our own towels. We felt this should have been highlighted before booking. And we were disappointed that there was no milk to start us off as it is quite a rural area and we arrived later in the evening.
We had a fantastic week in Gayle. Parking was easy and only a few yards away from the front door. The house was comfortable and exactly as shown in the pictures. Hawes is literally a 10 minute walk away from downtown Hawes. There are several really delicious places to eat in Hawes. There are plenty of walks right from the house. And more places within a short drive to explore. We highly recommend this house.

Fantastic location
Lovely quaint cottage in a beautiful location. Arrived a little earlier than the arranged time and told by cleaner to come back AFTER allotted time as she was running late. Bit annoyed as we were meeting friends and had to unpack, eat and get ready so was late and rushed. Bedding, crockery, utensils very clean and on the whole everywhere was clean. That was until we accidently dropped something behind the television and was shocked at the dirt. On inspection of behind furniture and skirtings it was clear that these areas had been neglected. All said and done we enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend a stay here. Constructive criticism
6 of us travelled from Scotland to Gayle and we all had a fantastic time during our time in Yorkshire. I thought that the cottage might be a little far away from the main street in Hawes but it wasn't a problem. The only thing that we couldn't find was an iron. We found the board but not the iron. That's all
Lovely place, had a great time, easy access to nearby village
Would highly recommend

Gary Easom; Software Engineer, I love the outdoors and walking, particularly the Yorkshire Dales. Having travelled around the country and living for a time in Europe (employment) we settled back in Nottingham, close to family, with our 3 young kids.

Why they chose this property
I spent many family holidays, as a child, camping in the Yorkshire Dales, in the Wensleydale and Swaledale areas (parents inspired by watching All Creatures Great and Small!), I loved the outdoors and grew very fond of the Dales, they had an almost 'magical' quality. I have many fond memories of times spent in the Dales.
20 years later and wanting to introduce my children to the Dales and trying desperately to create some sort of pension, we looked for a property in the Wensleydale area. Yarn House had just come on the market and it was perfect, overlooking waterfalls, spacious, an existing holiday cottage since the 1970's, well located in the center of the Dales and a few minutes walk from lots of good pubs, shops and restaurants in Hawes. Gayle is perfect, situated just off the Pennine way, a picturesque village, and a mile or so from Hawes.
What makes this property unique
Yarn House has amazing views, a beautiful setting and features on many postcards and book covers about the Dales. It has a great location, close to Hawes and a wealth of pubs, restaurants and delightful shops. The cottage overlooks the waterfalls which, depending on the season, are a wonderful play area for children (my children loved the beck, they were happy to play and explore all day) or a nice setting to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer. During periods of heavy rain, the beck becomes a, quite spectacular, raging torrent!
