This magnificent, island-style estate truly exceeds all expectations. Located on secluded Pakala's Beach on Kauai's west side, this totally serene property borders an orchard and is heavily sprinkled with mature shade trees and a variety of palms. A long driveway leads guests through a breathtaking panorama to a welcoming portico. The large, southern-style veranda looks out across an expansive landscape and a low, lava rock wall to the Pacific Ocean. This is the perfect vantage point to enjoy spectacular island sunsets.

Step through French doors to a living room lavishly decorated with antique furniture. The separate dining room is a luxurious amenity perfect for big families. A large, eat-in kitchen opens onto a deck overlooking the beautifully manicured gardens.

All bedrooms are extremely spacious and comfortably furnished. Some are actually suites and several open onto the veranda and the extraordinary vista beyond.

Befitting royalty, this impressive home invites families and friends to spend time together yet has acres of space for quiet interludes. A short drive in either direction leads to area restaurants offering a tempting variety of cuisine.

Beautiful view and great location

The property was exactly as described online and the property management company was wonderful to work with. They did everything to accommodate our group and were very friendly. We absolutely loved our time at Pakala Plantation and highly recommend this property.

Family Vacation first time to Kauai

Great place and location photos and description very accurate. Was a bit warm but house had multiple fans to use. Chicken loved waking us up in time to start our day. Pretty much a private beach to ourselves. Highly recommended and will stay again.

A Step Back in Time

The elegance and beauty of old Hawaii, with modern convenience added. The house is an amazing piece of history. We researched the family, and imagined what it would have been like to gather on the wide porch, or around the dining table 100 years ago. Plenty of space to spead out or spend time together. The views are amazing.

Relaxing and beautiful

Could not have asked for a better location to rest, relax, swim, enjoy cooking and eating together. Old school vacation - time together !! We had multiple cars which enabled everyone to explore according to their own timetable and interests. Was a good plan, as most activities were at least 15 mins away. Salt pond beach is a hidden gem for snorkeling.

Once in a lifetime trip!

The most beautiful and best place to stay on the island. Many locals will let you know once they know you’re staying there that you are on a prized location. We caught fish from the bank every single day, the turtles fed in front of us every single day. You’ll sit on the porch every morning watching the surfers and you’ll find yourself taking surf lesson soon after. Such an amazing experience and opoa is the best to deal with. Can’t thank they’re family enough for everything!

A perfect Christmas "home"

To describe this rental vacation home properly is very difficult. It is the best. We had 3 very senior adults, 6 other adults, and 3 pre-teens. There was plenty of room, beds, bathrooms and privacy for all. We loved the pantry (part of the kitchen). It is actually an area for preparation of food that is great for several folks preparing lunches and other meals for the crowd. Pakala is listed as inaccessible by wheelchair -but if you can manage 4-5 steps, it is perfect for the less mobile folks (walker) - all on one floor and an ADA bathroom. An extra cot size bed is in one of the bedrooms but not mentioned in the description of the property.It is ideal for a pre-teen.I cannot add much more about the beauty and accommodations of the home than what has already been written. The chickens are a part of the Kauai Spirit. Bonnie

Gigi fest 2018

I am not sure I can put into words our stay. I planned this family reunion with my four siblings to celebrate a big birthday for me.. They were all a little reluctant to join in but when I sent them the info on the location and the house they agreed to go. My sister and I had been to your place last year with my nephew Skip Cocci, so we knew what to expect.. I can safely say they were all very impressed and loved it... We had plans for everyone to come and go as they pleased, we ended up doing everything together and spent every night around the dinning room table and out on the porch.. telling stories of our youth.. I am the youngest so it was great to hear the older ones tell their stories.. I was 21 when we lost our mom and hearing stories of her being told around that big table reminded me of many days spent at my grandparents house... We all had a wonderful time and the house brought a peace to us all... I hope to come back again next year.. the beach, sun sets and the stars were amazing.... thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home...

Pakala Plantation paradise

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was my ohana’s second time staying at this beautiful plantation house on Pakala Bay in Kauai. There was a total of 11 of us (we paid the extra person charges) and we returned here because we were able to fit very comfortably in this house. In September the mornings were cool, the afternoons and evenings were warm. This is your typical old beautiful plantation house with no air conditioning and we did use 100% of the fans provided in the evening to try to cool down to sleep. The kitchen is large with all you need to make family meals. We enjoyed a family meal together every evening on the beautiful dining room. Again, the room. The dining table sat all of us comfortably. Pakala beach is just across the lawn with a popular surf break. We were able to watch surfers every day and we enjoyed the ocean as well. The house did have plenty of beach items available including chairs and umbrellas but no surf boards. Many memories have been made in this vacation rental. I hope to come back again with my ohana.

It's old an full of charm . It reminds me of the old farm houses I grew up in . If you need granite counter tops and TV's in every room and modern everywhere this isn't for you . If you want an amazing property , great location and perfect house to spend time with family friends while sitting out on the most amazing deck I've ever seen , this is your spot .

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were awestruck by the night sky: there were more stars visible than I ever imagined and so bright! Loved the house also. It was private with beach view and access. It was large and had great character, we would have to stay another week to really know the house as we kept discovering new things until we left. We have wonderful memories of hanging out on the late covered porch enjoying the breeze and the birds of ocean and mountains. The heat with no AC was a change for us, but there were many fans and the house is designed to use the ocean breeze for cooling.

Gorgeous, classic estate

Reviewer Comments: We stayed for a week in April for a calm, quiet getaway at the estate. We were incredibly impressed by the historical significance, impeccable grounds, and quirky, spacious building. The true star of the property was the walking-distance proximity to the virtually private beach. There are amazing gardens to explore on the property, in addition to dozens of chickens. The one downside we experienced on several days was a significant bug issue. Certainly, the tropics should be expected to have mosquitoes, etc, but the volume of gnats was significant, day and night, likely due to the fruit trees. The property would benefit from a bug-zapper or having fly paper available for guests.

Watching Surfing and Sunsets in Paradise

So spacious for 6 adults and 2 kids, room for "I" time and together time, and best of all, hours watching the surfers and sunset from the front porch. Hawaiian vacation

This was the perfect house for everyone to spread out. We enjoyed many hours (and naps) on the porch. It's a bizarre yet wonderful house that clearly holds so many memories for generations past. I felt like I was staying in my grandmother's house...old can opener mounted to the kitchen wall and metal cabinets. Straight from a different era! The house was clean and comfortable. Could used some bathroom updates - but I expect that is difficult to accomplish on an island. There is no AC, and it did get to be a little hot - especially in the afternoons. Many fans are available and we had no trouble sleeping at night due to heat ("jungle fowl" are a different story). We loved watching the surfers and enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility. Hope to come back again - certainly a very special home!

The beach is close enough to be a surfers paradise the longest left in all of Hawaii, and far enough that your little ones will not venture of on their own. shopping is easy and close. the Pakala Plantation is in the heart of Kauai with locals and natives alike. Not far from any convenience either. we all had a wonderful time. The house is very well equipped, clean, and easy to maintain.

Location, location, location!!!

This home was in such a beautiful location! We loved gathering for coffee on the front porch each morning and watching the surfers. In the evening, we enjoyed watching the geckos catching their dinner on the ceiling by the porch lights. There was more than enough room for the 6 of us. Bring your earplugs if you don’t like hearing the roosters, but that’s not just at this beautiful home, they’re everywhere on the island! The landscaping was beautifully done, but the home could really use a deep cleaning. There also is not air conditioning in this 100 year old home, but we didn’t miss it. Make sure to make reservations for the 5⭐️ restaurants several weeks prior to your arrival or you’ll be eating at 10:00 at night. All in all, this was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend!
