About the host
Hosted by Steve and Rob

Rob and Steve have been involved with hospitality, travel and tourism and retail all of their working careers, so they appreciate client needs and strive to give the highest levels of customer service and quality.
One of their latest challenges was being part of a team responsible for bringing a large hotel with no stars up to 4 star status and achieving two rosettes for one of its restaurants in the process.
Their individual and joint skills come to life when greeting guests and visitors to ensure that their expectations are not just met but surpassed in a comfortable, friendly and approachable ambiance.
Having lived and worked in other countries previously, they are accustomed to embracing different cultures and customs and are in their element when exploring new and exciting places to discover or sampling foods and drinks native to the region they are living. You will find their exuberance in passing on this information both valuable and interesting - particularly over a glass or two of their own produced wine.

Why they chose this property
"We finally visited this area of France after friends recommended it to us. We instantly fell in love with the beauty, the quiet pace of life and of course - the wine!
When searching for a property that we could call home and develop into a business venture we stumbled across Clos Vieux Rochers - an unloved small vineyard with a courtyard surrounded by an ensemble of derelict and poorly maintained buildings.
Nestled in the rolling hills at the heart of the vineyards of Bordeaux we are only a short drive to St Emilion. We have incredible views with easy accessibility, the perfect location for our dream home and an idyllic base to explore the region and for our guests to enjoy our property and grounds - including our adjoining woods and valley (perfect tranquility and inspiration for painters, readers and writers).
What may have made others make a hasty retreat, sparked our vision and imagination - we saw the potential of what this hidden gem could become.
We have already renovated the derelict owners house, and adjoining visitor/guest tasting room and shop."
The old farmhouse, which was added to during its long history, has now been renovated to form four beautiful one bedroom gites, each totally independent and
individual whilst offering all the modern conveniences expected of todays travellers.
This dream project continues to unfold and will do so over the coming years in the replanting and development of the vineyard, facilities and cellars.

What makes this property unique
Visiting Clos Vieux Rochers offers its guest the opportunity to experience the day to day life of a fully working vineyard. As the seasons change so also can your experience.
Rob and Steve live and work at the property so are always at hand to answer questions about the wine making process and if you are fortunate, maybe even a guided tour of the vineyard and cellars.
They are happy for guests to explore the property with its adjoining valley and woodland enabling them to absorb the beauty of their surroundings.
