Nea Makri belongs to the municipality of Marathon, and is a seaside suburb of Athens.
It is located between mount Pentelikon, famous for its marble used to build the Acropolis and home to the god of grape harvest, ritual madness and theatre Dionysos, and the South Evian sea with its blessed picturesque seafront where the legendary Battle of Marathon between Athenians and Persians took place. There is an original Mediterranean aesthetic and aura and one has a lot of options to enjoy it!
The closest beach is at a distance of 2 km from the property. Organised facilities and services are offered and the area is full of taverns, restaurants, coffee shops, hotels etc. Sandy beaches with crystal clear waters are found on all the greater seafront area, with the historic location of Marathon accommodating one of the top utterly picturesque sandy beachfronts in Greece, Sxoinias Beach, at a 10 minute drive. Even during peak season, one can feel the remoteness by choosing the right spot on this vehicle accessible warm sandy beach, which offers warm safe and shallow waters, also perfect for children.
Sightseeing all around Attica attractions museums and archeological sights is a must and relaxing on the beach and in the countryside make up a perfectly blended Athenian Experience.
Marathon, winner of the 2013 EDEN award for Accessibility Tourism, has a lot to offer in terms of infrastructure and facilities. A long 3km paved beachfront walkway and a municipal electric remote controlled water entering ramp for swimmers may highlight wheelchair users experience of the area.
The best way to getting around is by car. The most convenient way is picking up a rental that meets your needs at the airport. Alternatively you may use the taxi service by appointment. There is also a wheelchair accessible taxi service if that may be needed Transfers and tours may be arraigned with a variety of special vehicles.
The driving distance of the villa to “Athens International Airport” is approximately 30 km on a route which is rarely congested. It takes a maximum of 30 minutes to and from the airport. Beaches, bars and restaurants, marketplace, banks etc are all within a few minutes from the property, while access to Athens City Centre is a 45 minute drive.
A vehicle rental is highly recommend to make the most of your stay and access all recreational and sightseeing areas at your own pace.

Hello Everybody!
I live and work in Athens as an engineer mostly involved in land and property management and development. As a student, I have lived in Bristol and London for my bachelor and masters degree attending Bristol University and Imperial College. I have travelled a lot throughout Europe while I have mostly enjoyed long adventurous road trips in Italy, France, Austria, Thailand etc.
I am also into cycling, windsurfing, boating, love the outdoors, adore nature and always look forward to my next trip and experience.
I love Greece and its natural wonders and diversity and I believe it is one of the most interesting, safe and accessible retreats full of history, culture and welcoming people.
As I am new to hosting, I am looking forward with enthusiasm to help my guests have the most out of their travel experience, should they choose to be hosted by me!
I am more than happy to assist you in organising your trip, while making sure my house is right for you before you book!
See you soon!
