Perfect accommodations for 1-2 people
The unit was perfectly appointed and maintained, and the location was ideal for walking the area in and around Ajijic. Mary, the owner, was a pure delight - extremely warm, welcoming and helpful. I will look to stay here again whenever I visit Ajijic.

Mary is so kind and helpful! Her property is beautiful, clean and close to everything. I highly recommend this VRBO. Thank you, Mary!

Short stay, thinking to come back already
This short visit to Ajijic was filled with peaceful retreat that you always want in a vacation. As educators, we decided to return to a Ajijic, and enjoy the home away from home place that Ajijic is becoming for us. Mary is a wonderful, thoughtful and easy going hostess. We will certainly book our stay here next time we return to Ajijic.

Great location
Perfect for a visit to Ajijic. Kitchen cupboards well stocked. Laundry facilities available. We had the smallest unit of the 3 but it was perfect for our 15 days. Host is most helpful.

Glad that our little casita provided a good place for you both to start from and come back to after exploring Ajijic and the many other areas you were able to visit. All the best to you and I hope that Ajijic will be on your list to return to.
We had a wonderful 3 week stay in Mary’s casita. The Casita was equipped with everything we needed and Mary was the perfect host ready with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations and also took us to the grocery store the day we arrived so we could buy some food staples.
We would highly recommend this lovely hideaway walking distance to the lake, downtown and many restaurants.
Mary’s sweet little dog Charlie was always there to greet us and had a wonderful personality.

Top Notch
Casa de Las Suela was a top notch choice. We stayed in the small casita for 17 days enjoying every minute. The place is central to restaurants, stores, coffee shops and even the bus routes. Mary, the owner, was not only a professional host but gracious and kind. Our casita was quiet. We slept well.

We visited Casa de los Siena’s for 2weeks and loved everything about it. Mary is a great host and her high standards were reflected in the details. Clean, comfortable and stylish! A gorgeous garden and lots of space to sit outside. Located close to the centre of Ajijic it’s a real gem!!

Thank you for taking a moment to write this review. Charlie and I enjoyed your company in Casa de los Suenos. I enjoyed our lunch in San Juan Cosola where we had some real Mexican food. Please come back anytime.
What's not to like? Well appointed unit exactly as advertised. Quiet, secure location within walking distance of shops, restaurants and local attractions. What a pleasure to return in the afternoon and just enjoy the fantastic Ajijic weather on the covered terrace outside the unit. A real plus is the charming host, Mary, who is a wealth of information about all things Ajijic. We also made a new friend with Charlie, the rescue dog who is just a bit spoiled. Will definitely stay there again.

I so enjoyed Esther and Hal and look forward to their return. They were perfect guests and left the casita very clean and organized. I would recommend them to any other host, but I want them to return to me. I did have to explain to Esther what a stove was and what it is normally used for. They seemed to enjoy eating out :)

There's Something About Mary (and Charlie) !
We stayed for two weeks in Mary's small casita which is perfect for two and fell in with everything about Mary's estate. So much so that we extended our stay for another week and moved into Mary's Casa David. Spectacular! Mary's hospitality, friendship and knowledge of the lakeside area made our visit truly a once in a life time experience. Mary introduced us to the area and to friends whom we hope to have forever.
And we don't want to forget Charlie, the luckiest street dog on earth. He hit the lottery when he adopted Mary. What a pair.
If you visit Ajijic and don't stay with Mary, you're missing the experience of a lifetime.

Comfortable, quiet, relaxing
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Mary’s smallest casita. It was very comfortable for the two of us. The kitchen, though small, was well equipped and Mary even drove us to the grocery store the first day. It is near the Wednesday market, a great place to load up on fresh fruits and vegetables. The wonderful double recliner combined with the sound of the waterfall in the garden was the cause of some great naps and just great relaxation in general. The garden is gorgeous and brought me to tears when we first walked through the gate and caught sight of it. The casita can be quite open to the garden or closed and as private as you wish to make it. Mary’s dog, Charlie, is a sweetie and loved getting belly rubs and chasing a ball. And Mary was so caring, helpful, and encouraging as we were going through the process of finding and buying our new home Ajijic. We left feeling we had found a good friend as well.

Perfect casita in Ajijic
Having just enjoyed a one-month stay at Neat, Suite Petite, it is with the greatest pleasure that we submit this assessment. Our stay could not have been improved.
We were warmly greeted at the door by the resident owner/manager, Mary Bushbaum, and her precious dog, Charlie. We have rented casitas many times where the absentee owner lives miles away and issues are often ignored. With Mary living on site, concerns are dealt with immediately. She is a wealth of knowledge ... local customs, sites, restaurants, and is always ready to help.
Situated in an upscale neighborhood, only 100 yards from the shores of Lake Chapala, and a pretty 15 minute walk to the town center, the location is ideal. Our casita was one in a small complex of four units surrounding a courtyard of avocado and fruit trees, and lush flowering shrubs. To our delight, it is home to an array of brilliantly coloured songbirds who bathe in the fountain and enjoy the occasional avocado for lunch. Birdwatching was a daily joy. Every day or two, Mary would leave a couple of avocados at our door, the fruit from just one of the many trees in the courtyard.
The casita,, although small and ‘cosy’, as Mary described it, is so well-designed that the space did not feel small, but rather is very comfortable. Everything in the casita is of high quality – pots and pans, dishes and cutlery, very comfortable bed with lovely bedding, reclining leather loveseat from which we enjoyed evening hours of great television viewing with extensive Canadian channels and Netflix. Few rare perks in Mexico ... the tapwater is safe to drink because the complex has a waterpurification system. It also has its own septic system, allowing flushing of toilet paper. The kitchen comes well equipped with a blender, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker, on and on.There is a ceiling fan in the living room and bedroom, making the Casita very comfortable.
The complex is very safe with high walls and a solid locked front gate so security is not an issue. This casita checks all the boxes ... great location, beautifully appointed and well-equipped, lush courtyard, and best of all, managed by a well-informed, endlessly helpful owner and her trusty buddy, Charlie.

Dwight you and your friend were definitely part of the family. You both are welcome back anytime. It was great fun sharing Casa de los Sueños with you.
The casita we rented was everything we expected and more. It was well designed to give maximum comfort for the space. It was well appointed with all the appliances we required. Mary was the most amazing host always looking after our every need. This property was a short walk to restaurants and cultural activities. The bus which connects all communities around Lake Chapala was also a short walk making it easy to get to the Pickleball courts at the Montecarlo and to explore the whole area when we wanted to. We highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed in Mary’s casita for 5 weeks. It was perfect for us. The casita is clean and has everything. If It is bright and cheerful. From the sliding door we look out to the beautiful garden with flowers and a water fountain.
We went for walks daily. The location was perfect. It is an easy 15 minute walk to the Lake Chapala Society and the town square. The Wednesday market is very close. Yet when you are at May’s you feel like you are away from the village and into your own private garden area.
Best of all Is our host, Mary. She went above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable and have everything we need. She is a perfect host, answering any questions. Thank you Mary for everything. We will be back to visit Ajijic and will definitely be staying here.
Janice and LeRoy
From the start, beginning with Mary’s warm welcome that included a trip to the local grocery store for me to pick up a few supplies to tide me over until the next day, to the well-equipped kitchen and comfy bed / furnishings and tasteful artwork and thoughtful touches throughout the casita, I knew I was going to be spoiled and enjoy every minute of my month-long stay, which of course, I did! Location was ideal - easy to walk everywhere you’d want to go in Ajijic, yet sufficiently removed from the noisier centre of town. Lazier days were spent enjoying the lovely garden complete with a variety of flowers, trees, butterflies, birds, including hummingbirds that would flit in and about, and even geckos that could be seen sunning themselves on the far wall behind the peaceful, soothing, water fountain. Work began on the mirador while I was there that will make it easier to access in future visits, although I was able to get up there a couple of times before that work began to take in the beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Staying at / with Mary felt like ‘being at home’. Welcoming, comfortable, safe and warm, Mary embodies the role of a ‘host’, as does her lovely little dog, Charlie, who would appear at my screen door most mornings looking longingly, hoping for a ‘cookie’ and a belly rub. Mary’s son, who was visiting during my stay, proves the saying, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, or in this case, the avocado doesn’t and, if you’re lucky, you can grab one off the lawn before the squirrel gets it to enjoy as your nightly appetizer! If I had ‘one concern’, it was Mary’s pre-emptive claim that she checks all suitcases as one leaves to ensure no one is trying to make off with Charlie! Sigh, bringing him home with me would have ‘completed’ my perfect stay!

Well Kathy your review is over the top and I am not quite sure that it is totally deserved. It was great having you with us and you are missed by all three of us. Hope to see you next year. Charlie sends his love.
We rented the only remaining casita in this hacienda for our aniversery. It has 2 twin beds but the accommodations appeared lovely and inviting.
No regrets! It was, it is! We happily give thumbs up in every area. We had a great time and may switch to twin beds back home...LOL!
We had a wonderful time in Ajijic. Mary was a great hostess and catered to all our needs. The Casita was charming and perfect for the two of us, a beautiful setting. We walked everywhere and really enjoyed ourselves. We certainly plan to come again.

Sweet Neat and Petite was exactly as described in pictures and words. The casita was clean, tastefully decorated with everything one or two people would need for a prolonged stay.
The garden was awesome as well as the view from the mirador in the early morning.
My stay was extra special because Mary the owner and host went out of her way to assist me in my local shopping, trips to the bank, assistance with cabs etc. She truly is a special host who cares for her guests, and it shows.
My trip to Ajijic was fantastic, I plan on returning.

One of the best VRBO stays ever!
Mary is the most accommodating hostess we have ever had. The place was just as pictured, even better actually. Beds were comfortable , the space was beautifully decorated and maintained. The location was perfect for walking to town but far enough away for it to be quiet ( except the local celebration had some loud music but even that was great to be a part of) All in all it was truly one of the best experiences with a VRBO that we have had. Thanks Mary!!!

Comfortable and Welcoming
We enjoyed our week long stay at Mary's casita. Mary is very kind and welcoming. She greeted us when we arrived, drove us to the grocery store, offered to drop us off for dinner, and she even saw us off when our driver picked us up at 5am for our departure. Mary has the sweetest little dog named Charlie. We loved playing with him when he was hanging out in the garden and he happily accepted our belly rubs. We miss Charlie!
She had family staying in her other casitas while we were there, we got to talk with them also, and they are just as nice and personable as her. There is a shared garden space, but plenty of privacy in your own apartment, and Mary is available to answer questions and offer suggestions on things to do.
The casita itself was the perfect size for 2 people. It is very clean, nice furniture (we loved the reclining sofa!), the kitchen was ideal for cooking breakfast in the morning. We were close walking distance to a grocery store, gym, restaurants, and the bus stop. It was a 10-15 minute casual stroll to the center of town. We would happily stay here again the next time we are in town. Thank you to Mary, Charlie, and her family for leaving us with a wonderful impression of life in Ajijic!

Get this straight: Charlie is the Boss. Mary is simply the feeder...
... and know that Charlie will tolerate you because Mary says so. And he loves her.
I don't think you can find a better place to stay in Ajijic; you couldn't get more even at double the price. A private and excellent location - a 10-15 minute walk to shopping, town events, the farmer's market, LCS, nice restaurants and the plaza. There is even parking available on the street, but you don't need a car at all.
You certainly cannot find a better host - Mary will drive you to the bank or the store, offer to run errands for you, make calls and open doors for you whenever and wherever you need them opened. She know everybody and everything in Ajijic. Like the best butlers, she and her son are never in your way but are always available.
This comfortable unit (with full beds) has cable, internet, leather furniture, wonderful jazzy artwork, a very modern bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen down to the heavy duty Calphalon NSF Commercial Aluminum cookware. (If you are a jazz affection ado, talk to Mary.) You also have use of a fully equipped laundry room that is probably better-appointed than yours at home.
The highly secure grounds include a soothing waterfall and are quiet and are elegantly designed.
–> With the open verandas, this complex of 3 or 4 rental units would be perfect for a family or couples group vacation, but they are not listed that way. So drop her a note and ask if you're interested in renting your own private compound. <–
FYI, take the taxi from GDL at 420 pesos (about $23 USD plus tip). Mary will arrange your return trip with the excellent and affable Samuel (500 pesos plus tip). If Sammy picks you up at the airport, he has to charge you for both ways since he lives in Ajijic.
With Mary's help, Samuel is also available to drive you around while you are in town, for very reasonable fees, but give him 1/2 to 1 day notice.

Warm and inviting experience
My casita was beautiful, comfortable, equipped with all the amenities from cooking to showering in a well appointed bathroom. There were ample windows for light and to enjoy the breeze that flows through Ajijic. The front of the casita opens with over sized sliding door to the colorful and lush gardens. It was quiet and private. Mary greeted us as we arrived and was available for assisting us throughout our stay. Mary loves what she is doing and we felt that care throughout our stay. There aren’t enough superlatives to characterize our stay.

Well, Maya what a pleasure it was to get to know you and I feel very fortunate that you shared your plans to become a resident of Ajijic. We will be neighbors and hopefully have many organic shopping trips together. You are a perfect fit for Lakeside. See you soon.
About the host
Hosted by owner/property manager
About the owner: Mary is a retired business woman from Washington. She has travelled to several countries and when deciding on a place to retire visited Ajijic and like many others fell in love with the warmer, more colorful, and slower pace of life here. She has remodeled the house to include a main house and three casitas which she enjoys sharing with people from around the world.
What makes this property unique
As you enter the property you are met with a view of a lush tropical garden and a lovely fountain, a large avocado tree and lime trees. The rate can't be beat for what is offered. A few steps to the lake and spectacular panoramic view of both lake and mountains from the mirador. The location is perfect and walkable to shopping, Lake Chapala Society and the Plaza.
