About this property

Hilltop paradise cottage, a stone's throw from Florence..!

The "La Vista" ( apartment is part of a 13th century farmhouse (with another two apartments for rental purposes: "L'Acetaia" code HAUK 8043566 (60sqmts sleeps 4) and "La Stalla" code HAUK 8584399 (40 sqmts, sleeps 2)
It is located on the 1st floor. The entrance to the apt is directly into a large livingroom/kitchen/dining-room. There are two single sofabeds in the room. There is access to a roof-terrace with beautiful views of the valley. To the left a window which gives onto the courtyard of what used to be the main building, a typical 13th centuryTuscan Villa plus a well of the same period.
At the entrance of the flat to the right there is a small corridor which leads, to a bathroom (with: basin, shower, bidet, wc) and double bedroom with a breathtaking view of the valley, forest and olive groves.
The property is set on a private hill, half a mile from the main road. It's only 8 miles from Florence, but because of it's quiet and secluded feeling, it is as though it were totally immersed in its surrounding wild nature and very far from the madding crowds..!
IT IS ESSENTIAL TO COME HERE WITH INDEPENDENT MEANS OF TRANSPORT..!
There is a private parking. A very cheap and efficient tramway is awaiting at the bottom of the hill ! The car can be parked , free of charge ("Villa Costanza" terminal), it reaches the other terminal (Stazione di S.Maria Novella) in about 20 mins). So you don't need to worry about paying expensive parking charges !
There is a very practical "EUROSPIN" supermarket only 30 yards from the Power Station on the main road (Via Pisana) from Via delle Fonti direction > Lastra a Signa on your left (4,5km / 5 prop.)
The location is close to all the important double carriageways leading up to all the main towns and places of interest in Tuscany (10 mins). These however, can not be seen or heard from the property.

N.B.: our dirt track road is only in part a private road of ours, so, at times, not always in a perfect state of upkeep, we therefore advise that it is not suitable for low slung sports cars..!

We remind our guests that a tourist tax of €2.50 per person per night is charged, for a maximum of 10 nights.

About the host

Hosted by Julian & Anna

Host profile image
I have been a farmer (wine and olive oil) on this family property for many years. I now own part of the farm and only produce small amounts of organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. My wife and I enjoy hosting and meeting people from all over the world. I also work as a driver-guide in rural tourism for agencies and organise wine and cultural wine tours.

Why they chose this property

The farm was around 200 acres (80 Ha) when my parents purchased it in 1958. In 2002 I acquired my share of the property and decided to stay on in the same farmhouse with my family (wife and three daughters) and continue to cultivate olive trees, fruit trees, and other, organically, and to make part of the building available for holiday lettings.

What makes this property unique

The reason for continuing to live here is quite clear if you visit us ! There is peace, tranquillity, still a lot of wild nature, although we are just a stone's throw from the city centre (Florence). The property is set on a hill in the middle of peace and quiet. After half a mile of dirt track-road, running through a lovely oak forest, olive groves lead you to the most enchanting small group of farmhouses which formed the original estate.
What makes this place unique is the total privacy it offers, as the property is set on top of a privately owned hill. This location offers breath-taking views, in close contact with the surrounding wild life and maintaining the rustic authenticity of the buildings.
