This was our 2nd stay and once again it worked out very well for our group so that we could all be together in one place. Thank you having this location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous historical home! We enjoyed noticing all the details of the architecture and home decor but were very glad for modern conveniences. Clean and comfortable.
Beautiful unique historic house - perfect for our group
We had a nice time celebrating my sons graduation from Earlham college. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own bedroom. Very unique property with very nice furnishings. A historic property. We had everything we needed for our stay. Definitely would recommend.
This property was perfect for our extended family to stay together during our daughter's graduation weekend. The property was so much fun and area restaurants were fantastic!
This is the second year a group of friends have stayed here for the weekend! The house is charming and fun to explore. There is the added bonus of the pickle ball court! It is a way drive to restaurants and some nature areas. We love coming here.
This rental met all my expectations. We were a group of 14 ladies and the space was more than enough. Great kitchen supplies, very comfortable outside and parking. The communication was timely and informative. Thanks Richmond for a great weekend.
We LOVED this house!!! It was a perfect place to stay while preparing for the Taylor Swift concert! We had so much fun exploring this beautiful, historic home. Our group had plenty of space and it was so nice to have so many necessities provided for us! Communication was also so quick and kind! We didn’t have time to utilize any of the outdoor spaces but the gazebo looks so beautiful! I 1000% recommend this house!
Big old house with lots of comfortable rooms and updated bathrooms. Rooms charmingly decorated in the period. Well furnished kitchen enabled us to cook meals (although we struggled with the oven a bit). One member of our party said it reminded him of a funeral home, the the other 6 of us loved it
We enjoy the house. A lot of history in this house. Would recommend this house to stay at. The host was very nice and great to work with. Would rent it again. Carmin
It was a great place for our group to gather to watch the eclipse, and then visit with each other afterwards. Very historic house with potential to be even more grand if renovations continue. The gazebo is nice. The yard would be even better with a garden or flowering trees. We enjoyed exploring the house. So much room!
We had three families from Missouri and Kentucky. It is an incredible old home. We used 5 of the bedrooms, cooked breakfasts on the beautiful Viking stove:) thankful there is a first floor bathroom:) The pictures posted do not do it justice:) so relaxing, and close to many restaurants! Easy access to I-70. Totally LOVED the gazebo:) would stay again!!
We stayed for the weekend at the Westport mansion to celebrate two of our sisters’ big milestone birthdays. The five of us each had our own rooms in this beautiful home. It is surprisingly quiet given the house is just a block off a busy road. The neighborhood was quiet and we were just minutes from pretty much everything in town. The place is so big, with so many beautiful sitting rooms that we joked we should set a timer and move to a different place to hang out every 30 minutes. Some times at large historic homes it is hard to keep things clean and comfy but the Westcott mansion is clean and cozy, with plenty of space to enjoy each others company or curl up with a book in solitude. The kitchen is super with nearly very thing you might need and a great welcome note and bottle of wine. We had so much fun we might start coming every year! Highly recommend.
My large group was amazed at the beauty of this home. As we drove up and then walked through the house, we felt so lucky and excited that we got to stay there. The aesthetic of each room was spot-on and no detail was left undone. The linens felt luxurious and comfortable. The dishware provided was beautiful and plentiful. The gazebo and front porch were delightful for our morning coffee and evening conversation. Everything was truly delightful. We would love to come back regularly to stay. Thank you for allowing us to stay here and create beautiful memories.
We had 3 generations of family members staying together and this place had everything we needed for a comfortable and fun stay. All of the bedroom options and the different hangout areas made for lots of fun! We utilized the outdoor spaces for lawn games, pickleball, bike riding (kids), and gazebo sitting/card playing. We enjoyed games in the evening inside at the kitchen table and in the dining room. The porch was a fun place for the kids to congregate and play games also. The home was very clean and well cared for. The kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked. The character and charm of the home is so rare and unique. We thought it was a great place for a large group!
The home is immaculate and beautiful. Comfortable and homey the kitchen is stocked with any pan, baking, dishes and utensils you could need. Pictures can not capture the true beauty of this home.
Mentions. It is in no way handicap accessible (it does not claim to be) as advertised the only tv is in the gameroom upstairs. Traveling alone that effects my stay more that it would a family. I will stay there again. Thank you ladies
A FB group of 60+ women stayed at the Wescott for a couple of nights for easy access to the Cardinal Greenway. Everyone loved the house, and enjoyed the spaciousness and number of bedrooms and bathrooms. No one had any complaints about their accommodations. It was extremely hot during our stay and the downstairs area was very comfortable. Upstairs was a bit warmer as heat does tend to rise, but we all slept well. Beds were comfortable and plenty of towels for everyone. My only complaint was the lack of electrical plugs. There again, with older homes modern amenities are always a challenge. Overall a wonderful stay in a beautiful home.
We had a group of 15 women for a weekend retreat. The house was perfect! Plenty of space inside and on the wrap around porch. We discovered a Harry Potter room under the stairs and it was such a fun surprise! The home is beautiful and had a lot of fun exploring it, and the architecture and the artwork. Beds were comfortable and we had lots of sleeping space. The owner was very responsive, kind and helpful. We would love to come back next year. The house was charming and felt very welcoming and homey. I used to clean houses for a friend, and this house was very clean. We were also within walking distance to some restaurants, CVS is a half a block away for any sudden needs you may have. Highly recommend staying here.
We just recently stayed at the Wescott Mansion while we had family in town for my sons graduation. What can I say this place was simply stunning, not many gorgeous mansions around anymore like this! We made several wonderful dinners and ate in the beautiful dining room, felt like Queens and Kings! I always wonder if you can heat and cool these old large homes and well we stayed during the week it was in the 90’s so I quickly got to find out and was pleasantly surprised! The house stayed very very cool! All the bedrooms to pick from was so nice for everyone! We especially loved sitting out on the overly large front porch. Had a few small inconvenience pop up and the owner took care of it ASAP! Thanks for sharing this beautiful home with us we hope to return one day!
The house was built around the turn of the 19th century and it was obvious that over the years it received some hard use. The current owners have put in many hours to bring back the grandeur of of the old mansion.
All of the bedrooms had comfortable beds. The kitchen was well stocked but only had one plug in near the refrigerator. The main floor living room had several lamps for light but unfortunately bulbs were not in them.
As a group we felt that we gently used the house and left it in good order. We were charged for damage to a luggage rack. After contacting the owner she agreed to drop the matter and not charge us. I am grateful for her willingness to listen and communicate with us. In general we had a wonderful experience in Richmond and would recommend this property to others. Not a good choice if you have small children.
My family (10 people) stayed here for a night. BEAUTIFUL property! Fun to explore the house and grounds. The bedrooms were uniquely designed and the house is a fascinating historic property!! We had some much fun and would definitely come back!
