About this property
Quay Courtyard, cottage on Quay Road, alongside Charlestown Harbour.
Charlestown is full of charm and character.
A small coastal village where tall ships are moored alongside 19th century colour washed Georgian cottages.
Once a busy bustling port, now the sounds of the sea and the murmur of conversation from the nearby cafes, pubs, restaurants and galleries fill the inner harbour with a gentle whisper.
A few steps away from the harbour wall and you are in Quay Courtyard.
A newly converted holiday home tucked away, yet still at the centre of harbour life.
Parking is safe and free and right outside the house.
It’s a great place as a base if you plan to visit The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, or the fishing villages of Fowey and Mevagissy, all easily reached within 15 minutes, by car.
Or maybe you would rather walk the south coast path, at the end of the road turn east to Carlyon Bay or west to Porthpean. Both walks provide spectacular views of the bay.
There’s always plenty to do here in the village, you can visit the Shipwreck Centre, the home of the most amazing collection of artefacts and objects, all rescued from ship wrecks near and far.
Or visit The Historic Harbour, a few steps away, where not so long-ago films such as The Eagle has Landed, Alice in Wonderland, Doctor Who, and Poldark used the well-preserved Georgian features of this not so well-known World Heritage site as a setting.
Every day the beach and harbour will draw you out to gaze over the bay, where the water is clear, and small boats sail out and around the mussel beds.
Or pop out to a restaurant; take your pick, The Longstore, Rebellion Roast House, The Pier House, Springtide, The Boat House, or The Rashleigh. One is bound to become a favourite.
Or you can stay at home.
At the cottage there’s a well-equipped kitchen so you can stay in, cook for yourself and watch TV or listen to your own music collection on the Bose Sound system.
Simple, comfortable and just like home.
