This 4 bedroom cottage is less than one-half block from the beach and just over one block from the charming shops and restaurants in the village of Duck, NC. Amenities include a hot tub, bumper pool table/poker table, surround sound HDTV, outdoor grill and bar, FREE wifi, leather furniture, Playstation, DVD library, 4 flat screen TVs, furnished private patio and large front deck. View of ocean from top sunroom. Pets welcome! A private suite on the bottom floor with an outdoor access makes it perfect for a two family vacation.
A new addition 3rd floor room has 4 walls of windows with a beautiful view of Duck. Wall to wall sofa, chess set and cozy seating makes this a comforting get-away. A small balcony here provides a peaceful view of the ocean.
Spend your days on the beach and then curl up on the leather furniture and watch movies at night. Or walk down the hill to coffee shops, boutiques, kayaking, parasailing, ice cream shops and award winning restaurants. Rent bikes and ride all over the seaside town of Duck. Or do yoga at sunrise at the gazebo in the sound-side Duck park. Or soak in the hot tub with a glass of wine and stare at the stars. Walk the 7 mile long Duck Trail, just steps from the cottage. Have family game night on the card table/bumperpool table. For animal lovers, Duck is one of the most dog friendly beaches in the Outerbanks. This cottage is the perfect family vacation home!

Note: We make a special exception for cancellation due to any named storm that would affect Duck during your stay. Our heart goes out to anyone who has to miss a vacation because of a named storm. I will gladly refund all of the owners payment if you have to cancel or I will prorate the refund if you have to cut your vacation short because of a named storm in the Outer Banks. I cannot refund the VRBO fees, taxes or cleaning fees but will be happy to work with you on our end just in case this happens to you.

Fantastic Stay

Exceptionally clean and beautiful home. Owner maintained excellent contact with us during our stay, giving very useful local info and making sure our stay was everything we could hope for. Excellent location, beach access directly at the end of our street, local shopping in Duck was fantastic. Only minutes away from even more shopping and Walmart in Kitty Hawk. Such a beautiful home! Well furnished from top to bottom. Felt like our very own "home away from home". I can't say enough great things about staying here!

Favorite vacation spot in Duck

We never go to the same place twice, but Overtime is the exception!! Our second year here!! What makes this property stand out is all the little extras that make us feel so welcomed and comfortable. Fabulous location & home!

We had an amazing time at Cindy’s this week - the short (less than 3 minutes, and I’m a slow walker!) walk to the beach was the major selling point. The sunroom was beautiful and a great spot for reading, and the sand spur free area under the house was much appreciated by the pups for potty time. The only negatives: the shower in the master bathroom is itty bitty, so we both used the hall bathroom for showering, and it would be great if the deck had a gate at the top of the stairs! Definitely adding Cindy’s place to the list for next year.

friendly neighborhood where everybody waves

we chose Duck because of its beach access to well behaved leach free pets during off season. Duck is like Cabot Cove's atmosphere IE a clean small residential neighborhood with inviting sidewalks under century old oak trees, safe crosswalks and a gorgeous boardwalk at sunset. Listening to mocking birds and watching cautious deer going thru the backyard tells you about this secluded vacation rental location and yet a 2 minutes drive to the main road and its numerous shops while looking west and if you turn right the popular beach 100 yards away where our pets had a field day.

fall vacation

By far this is the best rental home we have ever stayed at! Owners have definitely put efforts in many little details that make this home so enjoyable! The sunroom was probably our most loved spot! Enjoyed the hot tub and the grill area! Although it was just my husband and I (and Jesse, our fur buddy) this would be excellent for families. Ample room for 9 people. We love Duck and the location to downtown was perfect. Could definitely walk everywhere you want to go. Look forward to returning next fall! Thank you for sharing your home, Jean

Enjoyed our Stay

Our family had a great time at the beach. We loved that we were so close to the beach and our four legged baby was able to join. The house was set up nice and had lots of games. The only negative I have, is there wasn't any cleaning supplies left except for a vacuum and broom, we literally had to buy everything in order to keep the house clean and neat. We were also told someone would be by to clean the hot tub on Wednesday and no one showed up. The hot tub has so much chlorine it made it not enjoyable due to it burning your eyes. Thankfully we were there to enjoy the beach and not a hot tub. Overall we still had a fantastic time and are looking to book another trip to OBX.

Great Location

This was a great family trip. The walk to the beach was about 2 minutes, walk to boardwalk about 10. Had a blast playing bumper pool. Outdoor decks and sitting area super nice. Pretty much had everything we could want. Plenty of space to stretch out. Downstairs room private if needed. Beaches here are nice.

This house had everything we could have wanted and more. Just a few minute walk to the beach and everything else for that matter. We (my wife, kids, in-laws and even our dog) were more than comfortable. Plenty of room to hang out together and also multiple decks for a quiet moment as well. The upper level is FANTASTIC! The owner responded very quickly to any questions and offered recommendations on must see/do/eat. They are very concerned about their renter's experience at their cottage.

Wonderful stay.

Everything was perfect. The house is nicely furnished and well equipped. The house is just a short walk from the beach. The neighborhood is very nice and close to all the shops in Duck. We had a wonderful time. Our doggies loved it too. Can't thank you enough Cindy.

We purchased this property and built the cottage in 1985. In 2007 we remodeled the house by adding a media room, enlarging the kitchen, adding a fourth bedroom on the ground floor and making a private patio with a hot tub and picnic area. In 2014 we added another patio with a BBQ area and granite bar. We made another addition in 2018 by adding a top floor sunroom with an ocean view and deck and also doubled the size of the master bedroom. In 2024 we remodeled the pitifully small master bathroom and we love the new space and updated fixtures. We are constantly making changes to the cottage and love to hear feedback from our renters!

Why they chose this property

Duck has become the jewel of the Outerbanks. It offers so many things that are not available elsewhere. There is a wonderful sound-front boardwalk with restaurants, ice cream shops, stores, and music to enjoy all day- especially at sunset! The streets are pedestrian friendly and most people walk or ride bikes through the town. Up to 10 restaurants offer free music on various nights in the summer. There is yoga, concerts, magic shows, and movies at the Duck Town Park, right in the center of town. This is a great vacation place for families!

What makes this property unique

This property is located in a prime location in Duck. Our street leads you right to the center of the wonderful things Duck has to offer- restaurants, shops, bike paths, concerts, music, sound-front boardwalk, ice cream shops, yoga classes, coffee shops and more. All this is less that 2 blocks away. You will not need your car to go anywhere in Duck. We are also just 9 houses from the beach which is at the end of our street- no roads to cross! Our cottage welcomes pets and Duck is one of the most dog friendly beaches in the Outer banks.
