Charming 3 bedroom Victorian house in Camden/Chalk Farm area of London
A charming and tranquil Victorian terraced house (built in 1840) in a quiet street situated between Chalk Farm, Belsize Park and Kentish Town tube stations and just a short walk to Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill and Camden Market. With 3 spacious bedrooms (Bedroom 1 - Double sofa bed, Bedroom 2 - King bed, Bedroom 3 - Small double bed plus single fold up bed) the house sleeps a maximum of 6 people with one main bathroom with walk-in shower, bath tub & WC and additional cloakroom with WC & sink . The house has amazing transport links by tube or bus to Soho/Central London and Kings Cross & Victoria stations. It has a pretty, south facing private garden with table and chairs and an outdoor chimenea/BBQ and inside has all mod cons (washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV with DVD player and Netflix and a wood burner. With a large, light kitchen/living area with two couches it's a great house for families, small groups, couples or business travellers.
HOUSE MANUAL
KEYS There will be 2 sets of front door keys for guests in the house. If I'm unavailable to greet you I will leave one set of front door keys in the key safe and text you the code before arrival. There is also a larger set of keys which are for the basement level doors - two gold keys for the two metal gates and two silver keys for the basement front door plus a smaller key for the back/garden door. There will be a duplicate of this garden key left in the garden door itself for easy access.
Please keep both the metal security gates and the garden door locked when you go out out or when you go to bed at night, for your safety.
In the event of losing both sets (unlikely, I hope!) I keep a set with a neighbour.
HOT WATER/HEATING There is a thermostat which controls central heating/radiators located on the wall in the hallway by the bathroom. The hot water supply in the house is constant so will be on at all times. PLEASE do not adjust heating or hot water via the kitchen boiler. Please only adjust heating via the thermostat in the upstairs hallway. It is quite simple to operate /change but there are instructions in the box in the bathroom cupboard.
TV/DVD/NETFLIX To use any of these, first switch on the power for each appliance on the six-way plug adaptor which is behind the TV. On this six way adaptor there are separate plug switches for the TV, the Freeview Box, the DVD machine and the little black Amazon Firestick (for Netflix)
For main TV (which is basic freeview TV with UK channels/Film 4 and limited digital channels) first use the long, black remote control to switch the main TV on, using the red button. Then use the SOURCE button on the big black remote control - its the button above the green and yellow buttons - to switch to Firestick or HDMI (then use the small fire stick remote to change channels or select a streaming service. Im subscribed to Netflix, Amazon and many more. You also use the long, black remote for the TV volume or to switch the TV on/off.
DVD Just switch the DVD player on via the main 'on' button and use the other small black remote.
AMAZON FIRESTICK/NETFLIX
Use this small black remote to switch on Netflix/ Amazon/BBC I-Player and other providers and navigate the menu. It also responds to voice commands when searching for films/programmes.
When going out/going to bed please switch off all these devices at source (ie the plugs on the adaptor) It saves energy and is safer when these flatscreen TVs are not left on standby.
RUBBISH/RECYCLING Rubbish is collected on the street outside the house, early on alternative Tuesday mornings. Otherwise the rubbish can stay in the black bin until the following week. Recycling is collected EVERY Tuesday morning. Please use the black bin bags (located in second drawer next to fridge/freezer) for rubbish and place in black plastic bin outside. On Monday nights or early Tues morn (before 7am) please put any full rubbish bags in black bin and green recycling box on street outside house for collection (if you can remember, of course!)
OVEN/COOKER The hob has five gas rings controlled by the five knobs on the front right The big main fan oven and top grill oven are electric. The main fan oven is controlled by the far left switch and the smaller top oven and grill is controlled by the second and third knob from the left.
WASHING MACHINE Switch machine ON. Load machine. Put powder/liquid in drawer or into machine itself. Choose a wash. Shut door and press START.
DISHWASHER Open dishwasher . Load dishwasher tablet and click the tablet slot shut. Press ON (the top left of dishwasher door) then press the 'P' until you get the programme you need. I find P5 is best (quickest) but choose P6 or P7 for really dirty plates! Then press the '>' symbol and then just close door shut to start the programme.

3 bedrooms of decent size, fully equipped house, nice small garden. Great location with superb public transportation links into the city and round town. Very friendly, responsive and helpful host.
We had a wonderful time at Geraldine's house: it was perfect home base to explore London with our two young kids. Geraldine was communicative and helpful throughout. Thanks!
We had a great stay at Geraldine's home. It was lovely and had everything we needed. Geraldine responded right away to any questions we had. It felt like we were staying at home which was nice after being out in London each day. We would love to stay there again when we return to London.
First, Geraldine was great. Although we never met, we spoke before our departure, and she was readily available by text during our stay. The house is lovely with super comfy beds and a charming backyard garden. The neighborhood is good as far as easy access to public transportation and a short walk to Camden. Great mysic at the Jazz cafe and Blues Kitchen bar.
We had a fantastic stay in this charming little English terraced house. If you're looking to experience a classic English home, this is the place. It’s full of charm but also offers comfortable rooms, a nice kitchen and living area, and a lovely bathroom. The host is easily accessible online, and everything was ready upon arrival. The neighborhood is great, with good shopping options and close access to the subway.
We had a delightful stay in this beautiful and cozy home. The common living areas provided ample space for the 3 of us to chat, read, or work, and the lighting is great throughout the house. The kitchen is well set up for light cooking (loved the cookbooks!). the location was perfect - we could go everywhere via the 24 bus (stop around the corner) or tube (a 10-15 minute walk). Our host Geraldine was very helpful and accommodating. We'd love to return!

Thank you, Amy . I’m glad you all enjoyed your stay ☺️
We had an amazing experience staying at Geraldine’s home. She met us there to give us the keys and settle us in, even though we were late! The home is very comfortable and the garden was beautiful. She told us about the bus stop and after that we used the bus almost exclusively. It was nice to see where we were going inside of being underground the whole time. We recommend this property highly!
Thanks Geraldine!

Thanks for being such nice guests :)
we selected Geraldines house for a week in London over Halloween with the family and our dog. It has been a pleasure, everything is just as described the house is in a calm side street of a lively neighborhood near bus and underground stations. Also the parks are just a lovely walk around typical London houses away and it has even a convenience store round the corner. The house is cozy and has everything you need. Thank you very much!

Thanks Till . So glad you enjoyed your stay 😊 PS - for some reason the rating wouldn’t allow me to award you 5 stars for house rules and communication but let me award them here 🙏👌****
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Geraldine's house! The layout was spacious and perfect for my husband, myself and our two girls (aged 4 and 9). The fact that two of the bedrooms were on the top floor and the living space was on the bottom of three floors meant that my husband and I could be awake, visit and cook while the girls slept without worrying about disturbing them. And the location was very quiet (also great for sleeping) and provided for nice downtime after exploring London.
The tube was a bit of a walk (12-15 mins) but totally doable. We used the busses at the end of the street a few times and they worked well for a trip up to Hampstead Heath and we also took the bus (an 50 min. ride) all the way to Westminster, passing Camden Market, Trafalgar Square and other notables so our daughters could see London via a double decker.
Geraldinevquickly responded to some questions we had and kindly accommodated an early arrival. The photos accurately depicted the home and we were very pleased with our stay.
Great place to stay near Camden Market & Hampstead Heath
Perfect for me, my husband and 2 adult kids. We all had a separate area in the house to retire to at the end of the day. Nice little garden. Kitchen has all you need. Handy markets a block away. #24 bus around the corner that will take you to the major tourist spots. Geraldine was kind enough to meet us and gave us a tour of the house when we arrived. Note: There are stairs to climb up to the entrance of the house and also inside the house. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.
Really lovely house with 3 spacious bedrooms, well equipped house and beautiful, little garden. We stayed for a month with our family, and loved walking to Camden, Primrose Hill and very convenient for tube to the centre. A really wonderful stay and Geraldine, the host, was very helpful!
This property was great and Geraldine was helpful. We found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped and having a full bathroom, plus a half bath was great! It is very convenient to the bus route 24 which got us easily to where we needed to go and a short walk to the Underground. I would recommend this place!

Here is a translation of Anja's review:
We had a wonderful time in the house and would like to come back in about 2-3 years.
We stayed as a family of three (49, 13 and 11 years old) for 9 days in the house, so everyone had their own bedroom. The house is very cozy and comfortably furnished and equipped with everything that is convenient for a longer city break, such as dishwasher, washer-dryer and freezer. In the kitchen there is even more than what we needed, many pots, pans and utensils, two ovens, a microwave and a juicer. We used daily the toaster, the kettle and the gas stove, as well as the coffee maker, in which the very finely ground coffee through the filter is pressed down. If you like classic filter coffee, I recommend bringing a filter, bags and ground coffee from home. In England, this type of preparation is rather unusual and the utensils are not easy to get. In the charming little garden, I had my coffee in the morning in good weather before the children woke up. We slept in the house heavenly. Each of us had four pillows and a large blanket. Two rooms face the street and one faces the garden, but all rooms are very quiet. There were many thick, fluffy towels ready for us and we always had hot water. The whole house is decorated with love and you feel as if you are a private guest or can lose yourself for a few days in the idea of being a Londoner yourself. I thought before booking, the house might be a little too far from the center, which is not the case. The bus stop is 2 minutes away, to the station St. Pancras there is the bus 46 (arrival and departure), for the excursions we took the bus 24 and changed in Camden Town in the subway (we were also more often on the Camden Market). Around the corner in two minutes walk there are some small shops with everything you need for your daily needs. Also several takeaways are available. On cleaning utensils and cleaning products in the house everything was available, for what you need, so that it was not necessary to get any of them. The contact with Geraldine was extremely pleasant. The keys were uncomplicated and tailored to our needs. She was also available for questions and as a guidebook at any time. Thank you again for that!

Susann and her family were very polite and respectful and easy to deal with. They left my house tidy and clean and it was a pleasure to host them.
We had a wonderful time renting this lovely home! Geraldine was a quick communicator and even allowed us to check in early after our ten hour flight. We had a delay with our luggage, but we were easily able to get the keys. The flat was very clean and comfortable with a cute little garden. It’s about an eight minute walk to Chalk Farm Tube station. Would definitely stay again!

Lovely home, everything we needed for a family Christmas
Lovely house, warm, clean, well maintained, secure and comfortable (we stayed over Christmas and new year to be with family who live in Primrose Hill - a 15-20 min walk away). There was everything we needed for preparing and cooking family meals in a family room kitchen/ dining/ sitting room so whoever was cooking was part of the conversation . Beds and bedrooms comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom clean and spacious with plenty of hot water. Very efficient heating. TV with extras (Netflix, Amazon) . A steady walk to tube station, shops and pubs nearby. Parking on weekdays proved a bit of a problem finding somewhere as you can’t park outside without a permit, but weekends and bank holidays you can park outside. House on 3 floors so lots of stairs. Lovely enclosed back garden area (even had a Christmas tree with lights!). Owner very helpful and accommodating. Great place to base yourself for easy access to central London. Really enjoyed our stay.

Why they chose this property
A charming and elegant Victorian terraced house on three levels with three comfortable, cosy bedrooms, sleeping six people max, all with blackout curtains for a sound sleep. It has an open plan kitchen/living area with all mod cons leading to a beautiful, S/E facing private garden with flowers, quince and apple trees and herbs if you like to cook ! The street is quiet with very little traffic noise and has great transport links (24 bus into Soho/Trafalgar Sq or 46 bus to Kings Cross/Fleet Street . Chalk Farm/Kentish Town underground stations are a 10-15 min walk. It is also within walking distance of Hampstead Heath & Hampstead Village, Camden Market, Primrose Hill, Regents Park and London Zoo. This is the perfect house for calm stays, a short distance from the heart of the city for families, couples or small groups.
