A place with so much potential but not enough attention to detail. The information provided about the area by the host was excellent.

Great location but poorly cleaned and maintained
We made the most of our 4 day stay, any longer would have been a struggle with this cottage.Complete lack of quality cleaning and basic maintenance throughout the property, very poor quality kitchen equipment and kitchen accessories and all grubby. The cottage is clearly just used as a income for the estate so no personal touches, care, thought on making it special.Unfortunately the worst equipped, cleaned and maintained property we have ever stayed in, shame given its brilliant location and garden.
We loved this comfortable cottage tucked in by the sea. We had everything we needed, including a roaring wood burner when the weather cooled. We did also manage a barbecue on one of the evenings when the sun came back out, with great sausages from one of the Castle Douglas butchers. Jamie and Sheri are very charming and are nearby. Jamie even stopped by when we arrived with extra firewood as the weather was turning; but we didn't want for anything else during our visit. The position is wonderful with views of Criffel and the Solway Firth, and next to a RSPB nature reserve. We caught a badger in the garden on our little motion activated trail cam two nights in a row. Unfortunately it was a little cloudy on the night we expected aurora borealis; but we did have a stunning, red sunset beforehand. Lovely walks all around. Peace and quiet. Perfection.
