Our stay was dampened by rain, but not by the wonderful place in Bera, Spain. The villa matches the photos, but in fact, is much roomy than we anticipated. It was absolutely almost spotless and very well maintained. Though it is a very old building, it has been updated with modern appliances, bathrooms, and furniture. There are multiple levels that include stairs, so it could be difficult for some who do not prefer upstairs bedrooms. The river runs adjacent to the property and was pleasing to hear throughout the day/night. There is a road also next to the villa, but it is not very busy and was not intrusive. The hosts were gracious and welcoming. If you plan to stay and cook a lot, make sure you check with the host on stocked items. The intranet was a bit slow but expected in a rural area. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to this peaceful villa in Basque Country.

Beautifully restored mill
A beautifully restored water mill with many of the original features, including the millstones, in place. Spacious, clean and tastefully furnished. Beds and sofas were very comfortable.
The landscape is reminiscent of Austria. We were there in September and collected chestnuts which were falling off the trees. The approach to Bera from France is via the 'col' (pass) but you don't have to go that way. There is an interesting shopping area at the col, all on the Spanish side, to take advantage of the lower tax rates. We also visited San Sebastian. Quite a journey, but worth it if you make a day of it.
We really enjoyed our stay and, if we were to return to this area, would book this property again.
