We had a really relaxing stay at The Firs. House was lovely, comfortable furniture, working wood burners with wood available and a hot tub in the courtyard. We all had a comfortable stay and the location was quiet and rural, but close to amenities by car. Thanks to the owners for a great set up for group rentals!
A super house for a family get together to celebrate my Mother’s 80th birthday 😊 A very peaceful setting and lovely grounds for outdoor games. We certainly got good use of the hot tub too. A very relaxing couple of days
A nice house well equipped for multiple age ranges. Kitchen has ample crockery and utensils though we did find the oven a challenge with top food burning whilst bottom layer remained uncooked as the fan assist did not work. There was an issue with dinning chairs as the cane backed ones had nails just under the covering causing a rip to trousers. the cleaning was not the best with glass and general mess being left under one of the beds and cobwebs in two rooms-I think the cleaning staff need appraising of the situation. There was mold in the en- suite due to the extractor fan not working. However the overall experience was good and we would certainly book again to enjoy the facilities, location and superb hot tub.
We spent a nice week in this property as a group of 3 families (5 adults and 8 children). The house is spacious and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and really good hot showers. There is lots of outdoor space and it is in a lovely area of Suffolk with lots to do.
A few things which lowered the rating:
The dishwasher wasn't working from when we arrived. We alerted the owners who were responsive and arranged for a new dishwasher to be installed which was up and running within 24 hours. But a few days without a dishwasher with such a large group isn't ideal and we did notice that another reviewer had mentioned the dishwasher previously so it is a shame this was not picked up on before our stay.
There is very little wardrobe space in the rooms (some have none) which is odd for such as large and otherwise well equipped house.
Finally, the house is next door to a pig farm (which is NOT smelly or noisy and it is nice to see the pigs) but it may have accounted for a very large number of flies in the property. One member of our party made it his mission to keep the population under control and must now have the death of 200+ flies on his hands.
Very comfortable, large house. Well equipped and convenient for an all-age family gathering. Hot tub, log fire and large dining room especially appreciated.
A beautifully old property, well furnished with period furniture
Lots of little spaces/rooms to 'get away', plenty of games and books (including a chess table) and best of all a massive traditional dining table to all sit together. Games room and hot tub went down well with mixed ages, everywhere was very clean (well done to the 'housekeeper'). Some nice walks in the area.
we had a wonderful break in this lovely old farmhouse. It is full of character, peaceful, extremely well equipped with games books and garden toys for everyone, peaceful and simply a pleasure to stay in. Thank you
The space in and around the property is a real positive. The hot tub is great especially for adults, games room and garden are wonderful for children. It' well-equipped and the location is peaceful while being close for good outings. The flies are a negative. It's on the expensive side, probably too expensive but COVID will be blamed for this.
Lovely roomy farmhouse, not too grand so relaxed for our party. One or two niggle, light in downstairs loo, broken loo seat, pump needed for water throughout propert so had no showers till halfway through but wonderful TIna manager quick to sort ( she’s a treasure) plenty of space all rooms large and airy (maybe could do with more storage drawers etc ) wonderful places to visit but we stayed around farmhouse watching hares, gorgeous soft verdant countryside and mystical Orford , a little gem.
We had a brilliant time at the Firs. Such a beautiful house. It is in a beautiful location with so much outdoor space. The courtyard was our favourite with the hot tub and games room, would definitely recommend.

We had such a amazing weekend! Would defiantly book this up again!
Everything was amazing. The house was as expected, the check in couldn’t have been easier. The garden is perfect. We celebrated a family members birthday and it was a super hot day and was such a lovely time. We had a BBQ and was in and out of the hot tub. The next door neighbours even said hello and we had a drink with them!! What an amazing time thank you so much.
A comfortable home ideal for large families and groups
We had a very nice time at the Firs. The house is spacious, very clean, comfortable and equipped with everything needed to cater for large groups. We mostly enjoyed the hot tub, the comfy living room with a fire place, the beautiful sight of the fields and forest around
We had a fantastic stay at The Firs! It is a lovely house and really well looked after. Very spacious- there were 14 of us and it never felt cramped. The garden is really nice, as well as the hot tub! The location was rural, but quite easy to find. Sam was really quick to answer any queries, and was very accommodating when we had to change the date. Overall, an excellent stay, would recommend.
Wwe had a great stay at The Firs for my wife's birthday. It is a beautiful house which had everything we needed for for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Wish we had been able to stay longer.
We had a great holiday with 15 family members. The house was lovely with plenty of space inside and out, the rooms were very comfortable and clean and it was a good location for Orford and the surrounding areas. We enjoyed using the pool table, outside picnic benches, hot tub and BBQ. Sam the owner was very responsive to any questions. I would recommend this house.
