We had an amazing stay in Prescott. Loved the cottage and Dave and Karen were excellent, responsive, kind, caring hosts. Our accommodations were just as listed and even better in person. The quaint cottage was welcoming and private. We thoroughly enjoyed our month long stay. Highly recommend to others.
Me and my wife spent a week it’s everything as advertised and more although being in town it was very quiet and easy to go do anywhere you wanted to almost everything was a short drive away
Words cannot express how much we loved the cottage and all the special touches the owners Karen and Dave provided like an album of all the places to go and resturaunts to enjoy in the area. This will be our go to place whenever we stay in Prescott.
Exceptional experience. The location was convenient to shops, the down town area and the rodeo grounds. The place was spotless and the garden setting unique and nice. It truly is a nice place to stay
The cottage was everything you could hope for. It has a very relaxing decor, well laid out floor plan, several outdoor sitting areas and all the little amenties that are often forgotten. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but just a short drive to get downtown. The hosts are very helpful with any needs or recommendations but not intrusive.

Very comfortable and thoughtfully curated cottage in pleasant setting. Hosts are very friendly and attentive. Would definitely stay here again. Perfect location for Rodeo and farmers markets and easy distance to historic town center.
Our hosts, Dave and Karen, were wonderful! Dave met us on our arrival, showed us around the cottage and gave us some great suggestions for hikes! The cottage was sparkling clean, just as advertised, and had everything that we needed to cook great meals, and relax when our day was through! Sitting on the patio and watching the very active birds was a lot of fun too!
This was our second time staying at this property, and definitely won't be our last. It's very clean. We always enjoy staying here.

We're so happy and grateful for your return stays at Prescott Hideaway Cottage! Glad you liked the new bathroom remodel and appreciate the cleanliness. We pay our housekeepers a living wage to retain them and insist on 3 to 4 hours, sometimes more. We actually lose money on cleaning but we think it's important! Glad you appreciate it!
Thank you,
Karen and Dave
You were wonderful guests for Prescott Hideaway Cottage! Thank you for your sweet text message, "I wanted to let both of you know that we are very pleased with our place. It is very comfortable, and furnished with virtually everything a person could use. The place was very clean and plenty of storage places to put our belongings away." We enjoy hearing that. And Terry was over the moon with how spotless you left the Cottage. She wanted me to specifically thank you for all you did! I think she even gave you some of her fabulous zucchini bread!
Thanks again and please come back!

Thank you Derry and Jeremy for bringing your grown children and the 2 grandkids to Prescott Hideaway Cottage. It was wonderful seeing your family together for the holiday and the kids enjoying the Meadow! Very sweet!
My wife and I enjoyed a very nice three night stay at this lovely cottage. The hosts met us at the cottage with welcome gifts for us and our dog. The property was very clean and comfortable. It had everything necessary for our stay. We ran into inclement weather during our stay and spent more time than expected indoors, enjoying our time in the cottage. We will definitely return.
This was my first time using a VRBO and I couldn’t be happier! This was the cutest cottage and perfect for us to stay in the area. Dave, our host, was so nice and took the time to meet us and show us around. It was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it!
Excellent super clean cottage on a dead end, quiet street. Nicer than the pictures with every modern convenience included and wonderful owners and great communication!
By far the best place we have stayed at in Prescott. We were able to walk to the rodeo/fair. Location is excellent!! Dave and Karen have a gem in Prescott!!!

Wanted to get out of the heat and relax for a weekend and this cabin was perfect place for that. Close to restaurants, shopping, and activities, the place was clean and well stocked with everything we needed!
We had a great stay. We have used VRBO many times and this property is probably the best stocked, i.e. amenities, supplies, maps/itineraries, etc., of any we've stayed in. Walking distance to Fry's and several restaurants, and Whiskey Row is only 1.6 miles away so also within walking distance if you like to walk. Dave and Karen were extremely attentive to anything we needed during our stay (we were there for 2 weeks) and it is obvious that they take great care of their properties. We would definitely stay there again.Larry & Sherri
Such a beautiful place to stay. Dave and Karen are the nicest and most thoughtful people to meet. Our little furries got to enjoy their getaway as well. There were so many adorable details throughout the property. Highly recommend.
Second time at this property. It is a great place to stay with the family.

About the host
Hosted by Dave Rueb and Karen Hunt
We purchased the property in 2016 with the help of the previous owners who'd owned it for 40 years! Dave and I are both in Housing: Construction and Sales. With both of us self-employed in the housing industry we lost about everything (except each other!) in the crash. After business losses, bankruptcy, IRS audit, short sale and deaths in the family, we moved to Prescott, nearly on a whim. We rented from another couple we just met who believed in us and loaned us the down payment for this parcel of land. We started thinking about the possibilities of such a cute property and did a little work on the Log Cabin but tried to keep it mostly intact, even with its funky fixes by other owners and tenants. We renovated the Cottage down the lane in a big way (#883663), opening the floor plan and adding a garden. The Log Cabin appears to have been owned (and possibly built) by a man who was a piano tuner and salesman. His wife worked as a bookkeeper for an attorney. They had one daughter who eventually taught dance in Los Angeles but returned to Prescott to care for her father in his last days and bury him in the local cemetery next to his wife (researched at Sharlot Hall Museum). Thank you for choosing us. Let us know how we can make the property and your experience even better. We started this as our primary business after suffering many losses. We want a successful business and happy, satisfied guests! Blessings to you! Karen and Dave
Why they chose this property
We really liked the location near the Fairgrounds and Downtown (but not too close) and the seasonal creek. With all the large elms, locusts and cottonwoods, we knew we wanted to preserve and improve upon this little park-like setting. The owners were thrilled with our vision and were finally able to part with it, knowing we would be good stewards to the land and the creek which adds to the water supply in Prescott
What makes this property unique
The Cottage was darling yet we knew we wanted to make some renovations to open the floor plan, allow more light and put hardwoods down throughout. Dave's been a contractor all his life so we went to work. The house is from the 40's (at least) so there was lots to do. Dave opened the kitchen to the dining room and created a bar. We took down a wall for an easier access to the bathroom. We just, in 2025, re-remodeled the bathroom again, putting in a new shower, toilet, vanity, sink and flooring. The opening from the dining room to the living room was made and new sliding glass doors replaced a window, opening the whole house to the new patio, garden and meadow! Dave built an arbor and for a chardonnay and a muscat grape vine! I landscaped for a garden of rose bushes, fruit trees, shrubs and flowers. We discovered the javelina loved it too, so we installed a white picket fence to keep the little devils out! 🐗 After Carpets were ripped out, ceilings lifted, lighting, plumbing, painting, and lots of things you can't imagine we started making it homey, a little Western and a little midi-century modern. We had fun furnishing the Cottage and meeting people from auctions, antique stores, yard sales and estate sales. It's so wonderful to see so many works of art, antiques and collectibles and remember the people and stories that go with them. How heart-warming and magical it is to repurpose someone else's beloved or handmade items! We've enjoyed a cocktail and glass of wine on the deck once or twice and I've often thought I could move in! I love the openness, the quiet, the cleanliness and the birds and butterflies.
