Great location and beautiful clean house, plenty of toiletries, and loved the golf cart for trip to the pool and beach (note that it’s within property only, not street legal). Love the proximity to the Big Chill and ease of beach access.
Our family of four loved this location and rental. It is a charming area with a beautiful beach and comfortable pool. The beach and pool are a short walk or golf cart ride. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood for walks/runs and the resort gym met our needs. Each of us having our own bathroom was a nice bonus. Harry was a gracious host and we appreciated his restaurant recommendations.
Cottage was further from beach than anticipated. With no view of the external view we did have resembled a row of cottages that could have been in New England . Again, not what we expected. The beach access using the golf cart was easy, but the sand flies and kissing bugs on the beach made it uncomfortable (with multiple families retreating to the pool). We went further west by car to a public access point. The flies were non-existant.

The flies during your stay were a direct result of the rare on shore winds coming from north inland areas of the panhandle. This is a confition that occurs during the early fall months
We love the cottages on Salt Box Lane. This is our favorite we’ve stayed in over the years. It was very clean, great spaces, and a great renter. Awesome location, golf cart was fantastic…couldn’t have been a better stay.
Really enjoyed our time at this property. It was exactly as advertised and perfect for our group of six. Very good communication from the property owner. Golf cart was a major plus providing easy access to the beach and pool. Looking forward to our next stay at this cottage in Watersound!
Salt Box Lane was and amazing vacation. We love Watersound this is our 10th year vacationing in Watersound. The Golf cart to get to the beach was amazing. And location was one of the reasons we booked this house.
Great house for our spring break. Location is perfect within Watersound with easy access to the beach. The golf cart definitively helped getting to the beach. Communication wifh owner put everything at ease.
Great house on a quiet street! Perfect porch to drink coffee and hear nature. Beach was never crowded. Golf cart made it so easy to drive to beach and there was cart parking right at the path to walk. One of our best home rentals on 30A!
This was our first time staying at WaterSound Beach and what a hidden treasure! We absolutely loved this neighborhood - it's so charming and far less crowded than other nearby beaches. Harry's house on Salt Box Lane met our family's needs - the golf cart made getting to and from the beach effortless! Salt Box Lane, in our opinion, is by far the most beautiful street in the neighborhood. We will definitely be back!
We loved this house and the community of watersound. The house was perfect for our family of young kids. Harry was very responsive to any questions I had. The golf cart was also great! You can drive the cart onto the boardwalk and walk steps until you’re on the beach! We won’t stay anywhere else on 30a again and plan to return. Thank you for a great trip!
Great communication from the owner. The home itself is beautiful, and spotlessly clean. Not a detail out of place. Kitchen works well. The property has a practically new Weber kettle for charcoal grilling. The golf cart is a fantastic perk of the property, and made it easy to access the beach. My son and I could set up our family’s tent and chairs on the beach, then go back and pick it up at the end of the day. It’s really nice to access the beach without having to cross 30A. The private nature of Watersound’s beach made it all the better.Watersound is a remarkable development, probably the best architecture along 30A. Easy to walk to Bruno’s pizza, and to The Big Chill, where we rented bikes from Salt Air (highly recommend). We knew the community was gated, but had not anticipated just how nice it would be to have such limited traffic. We rented bikes, and enjoyed family bike rides several evenings during our stay, without worrying about car traffic.
My family and I had the best stay in Watersound. The property is the perfect size for a family of 6. The three bedrooms were well kept and great size. The living room area is perfect to sit back and relax. The ability to be in a gated community with a golf cart was the best. We were able to be from the cottage to the beach in two minutes. There are chairs available to rent and will be setup each day. Beach is no over crowded like areas outside of the community. We will definitely be back.
Our time here has been nothing short of wonderful, and we've truly enjoyed every moment. Your attention to detail and the care you've put into this house is evident in every corner. It's not just a place to stay; it's a home away from home, and we couldn't have asked for a more comfortable and inviting space. The house's beauty and its perfect location warm our hearts. They take great pride in providing a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment to their guests.
The golf cart and beach access are indeed some of the highlights of our property. They believe in offering the guests not only a place to stay but also a complete experience that allows you to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.
We've stayed all over Florida since I was a kid. Up and down 30A, PCB, Gulf Shores, etc... and this community is a top 3 of most beautiful beach places we've stayed. Owner was great to deal with, the cottages are very cute and the whole environment is so peaceful. Wish we could have taken the golf cart outside of the community to go to The Big Chill but it's a short bike ride or walk. I would highly recommend taking your family to this cottage or anywhere in Watersound. Only a couple of minor cleaning issues and some confusion about what pools we had access to but the owner was quick to resolve it. We will be back for many years to come!!

Outstanding Stay in Watersound!!
Overall a fantastic vacation, excellent house and location. Comfortable, spacious and within walking distance of the beach, clubhouse, pools and the new HUB just down the hiway. Owner is extremely easy to communicate with and there were NO surprises or problems with the rental. Kids loved the wifi and the smart TVs for those long warm nights of movie watching, and the golf cart is especially handy to get to the beach fast on those hot days. Will definitely rent again. Our only advice and small tip for future renters is to pack a box of kitchen stuff like salt/pepper, condiments and extra paper towels and such because although the kitchen is amazing, it does not come stocked with any food items. A small thing but not a deterrent to an amazing vacation.

Beautiful area, Pristine home, Amazing beaches
Our family visited this area for the first time in February 2019. We have three teenage children. The weather was much cooler than we had hoped for. Despite the less than ideal weather, the home (and owner), amazing beaches, and relaxing yet refined atmosphere made our trip memorable. From the beginning, Harry made every effort to make us feel welcome and provided numerous suggestions for restaurants and things to do. (All of which were extremely helpful! Bruno's is a "must" restaurant to visit!) Watersound is an amazing, private community with beautiful houses, quaint tree-lined streets, amazing white sand beaches, and a large, heated swimming pool with clubhouse and snack bar....which was closed during our stay - probably because it was 'off season'. Luckily, this area does not have the commercialized, Spring Break feel. If you are looking for a relaxing (perhaps somewhat upscale) vacation spot with ample restaurants and shops nearby and some of the best beaches in Florida - this is the place. Our only wish was for more coffee shops and homemade ice cream shops within walking distance but I am sure this will happen as the area is growing.

Thank you for your kind words and we hope you to see soon!
My family of four (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 tween) had an awesome time at Harry's house. The house is perfectly located in the quaint Watersound community, within a short walk or golf cart drive to the private beach. Our beach was the best we saw in the area -- beautiful huge dunes and calmer water than surrounding beaches. We rented beach chairs and umbrellas from La Dolce Vita - pricey, but the shade is so necessary in that Florida sun.
The house was so comfortable and had everything we needed. We cooked and grilled most days; and took the golf cart down to the beach every evening to watch the sunset and play on the beach. We visited over the 4th of July and saw incredible fireworks from our beach. After the beach every evening, we drove the golf cart around the community, admiring the beautiful houses.
The impressive fitness center and Brunos Pizza (great!) is a quick 3- minute walk from the house. Nearby communities (Seaside, Watercolor, Alys Beach) and fantastic restaurants are a very close drive.
We rented a pontoon boat for three days and fished/swam the bay - a super fun experience. We saw tons of dolphins and caught a huge number of fish.
Last, but certainly not least, the owner, Harry, is a gem. He was incredibly responsive and gave me so many great tips about the area. We will definitely be back!!

Sweet area...golf cart issues....
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It was clean and in a beautiful development (Water Sound). The golf cart did not work-got us to the beach the first morning, then not sufficient battery to get us home. My husband pushed it home while I juggled our 3 kids and our beach stuff. Did not have the golf cart for our entire visit-owner made us feel as though this was our fault-we weren't charging it right, plugging it in right, etc. (golf cart was like this our first day so don't know how it could be our fault!). Property has minimal amenities-no beach towels, no beach supplies for families (though we left boogie boards, sand toys, etc for future renters as we could not take them home on the airplane). Overall we liked the area, just did not feel as though this property offered the amenities other properties in the are offers (functioning golf cart, beach towels, beach "toys", sufficient laundry detergent to get bath towels clean, dish soap, dish washer soap, etc.). Owner could provide these small things and our stay would have been much more relaxing and enjoyable. My husband did not appreciate spending our first morning of a short vacation talking/discussing/pushing golf cart for the owner who again made it sound as though this was our fault! Would stay at Water Sound again-just at a different property with more basic amenities.

Unfortunately either the prior or stated renter allowed the battery charger to stand uncovered in the rain during charging of the golf cart. There was an electrical short which blew out the golf cart charger motherboard . The golf cart company that we contract for service did not identify the problem until mid week as they were backlogged with service orders in preparation for the start of the spring rental season. A new golf cart charger costing over $400 was immediately ordered but unfortunately it did not arrive until a day before this renter's vacation week ended. We did everything to accommodate the renters needs however their emotional state over the golf cart never subsided even though we provided payment for rental bikes at their request (the golf cart is complementary not a paid for service). The golf cart is practically brand new and in excellent shape, the cottage is fully equipped with a more than adequate supply of toiletries, it is true we do not offer beach towels, children's toys nor boogie boards. We have been in operation for over 6 years...we take pride keeping offering exceptional service and maintaining our cottage in exceptional condition. We provide all of the necessary items stated on our website.

Not the Experience or Service we expected
This was our 5th stay in Watersound in as many years, and this was our personal worst.
The good: The home was like another property we stayed at on SaltBox. The stackable w/d was nice, and it was convenient to have 4 Full bathrooms. The Golf cart is a must being that far from the beach and pools.... an added bonus for renters.
The bad: The cleanliness of the property. During our stay, my 4 year old cut his foot with glass pieces found in the house. Additionally, there was broken glass on the property itself (beer bottles). We found other discrepencies like towels with holes in it and cobwebs all over the place.
The TV in the master bedroom was out. That section of Watersound had a lot of construction. The noise was unpleasant, and the workers lounging around the close common areas was unpleasant.
The kid supply rental co we used was not allowed to enter the property to set up the cribs and high chairs. This caused an exit issue. Initially, this was not a problem, but turned into an issue later.
The Ugly: Dealing with the property owner. The property owner is a long distance manager. During our other stays, the properties had local management teams and I think that is the only way to go for my family moving forward.
After the glass, cleanliness, and other issues, the owner offered to make amends.
That turned ugly after we checked out. Because our crib rental company was not allowed to pick things up, we accidentally left a rubber mark on the concrete floors. The rubber was coming off, but we were leaving and we assumed it would be mopped. This turned into an issue with the owner and arguments turned into threats, bullying, and yelling. Good thing we took out the insurance on the property. Needless to say, there was no resolution to this issue to our satisfaction relative to our son's injury. I am sure you will see a taste of this in the response below.
Another tip is be wary of the little "notes" you find around the house. Even though it was not detailed in the contract, the owner expected us to do things that were detailed on tiny post it notes around the house.
All in all, there is a chance this property could work for you, but hope nothing goes wrong. Without the glass, it may have been a different experience. In the end, it is a low price rental, but that is no excuse for how we were treated.
Good luck if you rent.

This review is a malicious fabrication with intent. We the owners have been renting our cottage for over seven years and we have accommodated well over 200 families who have rented our property...many have returned two or three times...not because they hated our accommodations and cleanliness but because they loved it.
"Mr. Scott S." is with good reason an alias name who stayed at our cottage for 9 days in May 2014 .
On day 7 of his stay I received an email from alias "SCOTT" claiming his son had just cut his foot on a piece of glass that was located under the dining room table. I immediately called him to inquire about the condition of his 5 year old son as I was sincerely concerned. He claimed no problems, that his SON WAS FINE...that a piece of white porcelain glass the size of a pinhead had pinched the bottom of his son's foot...he stated his son's condition was NOT an issue.
THE BAD: He curiously began to complain about the boardwalk repair work that was going on down the street. He told me that this work had ruined his vacation as he and his wife could not sleep late during the morning hours. Late that morning our property and maintenance manager arrived at the cottage to survey the sounds of the neighborhood. Although there was repair work being done on the boardwalks, the work area was 6 houses away and the construction sounds could barely be heard from the front porch...our cottage is air conditioned and pretty sound proof.
I responded to "Mr. Scott" informing him that we did not think the noise he claimed affected his vacation however, I offered a resolution. Not happy with our offer he threatened that he would write a bad review if I did not provide him with a large money refund. The conversation became heated as I refused to meet his demand...so I ended the discussion.
THE UGLY: Upon his departure our cleaning crew arrived and found the cottage in complete filth...bags full of garbage left open in the kitchen...food & dirty dishes, all over the kitchen countertops, dirty pots & pans in the sink., the refrigerator was full of opened & cooked food, wet towels lying in shower stalls, sand everywhere, floors were scratched from the rented crib and needed re-polishing, the golf cart was left uncovered and golf cart cover was lying on the side of the house drenched in water and sand from the sprinkler system.
It took the cleaning crew 3 1/2 hours to clean and prep for the next renter.

As California residents many people ask us why Watersound Beach? Well having been to many scenic beaches, Hawaii, Florida and the Caribbean we were simply amazed at what we found one summer when we decided to vacation in Santa Rosa Beach just a few miles away from Watersound Beach. Watersound Beach a new community nestled along Scenic HWY 30A commands a one mile private beachfront surrounded by massive sand dunes..it's simply magnificant. Certainly the best beach on the panhandle and arguably one the best beach settings in the world...it's true! My wife, myself and our kids fully look forward to our frequent trips to Watersound Beach as well as the surrounding area that offers so many fun things to do. It's got such a beach feel and you just can't beat the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Not to mention the great Southern culture and people who live and work in the Florida panhandle!
Why they chose this property
We chose to purchase this great piece of property because of the beautiful natural setting and the quality look of the architectural design. An investment for now and in the future we plan on retiring here...it's a great piece of paradise that we truely enjoy!
What makes this property unique
We are owner run and operated with our own devoted cleaning and service crew. We provide our renters with the very best linen! Our prices at Watersound Beach can't be beat!
