The cabin is in a gated community that is a lovely combination of rural woods and well maintained roads. Our highlights in the cabin were that the central heat kept us cozy and the upstairs water pressure was amazing. The decks around the cabin are relaxing. We had deer in the mornings. The washer and drier were very useful (there is laundry soap already there) and the kitchen had all we needed to make breakfast. The Piggly Wiggly grocery market is just a mile away so you can stock up. We waited until the last day to visit the clubhouse lake and really wished we had gone sooner, so if your time allows be sure to utilize such a fantastic amenity that comes with this cabin. Gale, the owner, is very organized and will get you everything you need to know before you arrive. This is a perfect location if you are visiting Sewanee and need a home for the family. Thank you for a great stay!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay! We were celebrating three family birthdays and found the home welcoming, comfortable, and filled with everything needed for cooking, entertainment, and a memorable vacation at Wintergreen. We enthusiastically recommend this rental! Many thanks to the owner for his help and support throughout our visit.
We really enjoyed our stay at ATypical Cabin! The cabin is located on a beautiful, wooded large lot. The cabin was very cozy and had everything thing we needed for a wonderful weekend getaway!

So glad you enjoyed Atypical. You were the perfect guest!
Everything was 5star perfect! Cozy cabin in the woods with access to trails, good food, and a covered porch with a swing bed . Beds were comfortable and kitchen and bathrooms stocked . Cozy den and and lots of books, games and puzzles. It was a perfect weekend getaway! Thank you. We will be back!
It was absolutely incredible. It is beautiful, tranquil, and exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed walking and hiking in the area. We also had a phenomenal time kayaking and canoeing. We had our coffee and dinners on screened in porch and grilled on the grill on the front patio - so blissful! Gale was great and super communicative.
We had a great stay. We celebrated our 29th anniversary. Even though the weather did not cooperate the house was perfect for rainy days. We definitely would stay again.
A quiet comfortable place. Clifftops is a lovely community with a laake pool and great hiking trails. Best of all for us, it is only locate about 20 minutes from the Caverns. The house is amazingly well equiped. Everything from canoes and kayaks for the lake to a washer and dryer when you fall in. A huge screened in porch with a great view into the woods, is a great place to take your meals.
My family had such a lovely stay at this cabin. It was exactly what we needed for our graduation weekend with our oldest daughter. The cabin is so easy to get to and in a great location. The screened-in porch was our favorite part! It was so serene and peaceful. We had a wonderful stay!
I have to give the weather some credit, but we had a great weekend here. The place is quiet and the screened in porch was just fabulous to hang out and dine on. It is close to some great hiking trails and a fantastic concert venue. It is nice to have a place like this to relax at after an adventurous day.

About the host
Hosted by Gale Moore
We bought this cabin after falling in love with Clifftops. We are swimmers, runners, cyclists, tennis players, paddlers, and fisherpeople. Clifftops had all our favorite activities in a beautiful community.
Why they chose this property
We liked this property because it was near the front of the development which gives easy access to trails, restaurants, and The University of the South. It is also at the end of a cul-de-sac which is an asset with little ones.
What makes this property unique
Nearly secluded location in Clifftops forest. Four miles from Sewanee. Being allowed to swim a mile in a clear, clean, lake knowing I won't get creamed by a motor boat is fantastic. Being able to pull our canoe, kayak or paddleboard off the rack and paddle a couple of miles and fish for bass makes for a perfect evening activity.
