Quiet and beautiful farmhouse with large panorama swimming-pool in the Tuscany hills. Next to a natural park. Ideal point of departure for a visit of the art cities.
Our special wine-tasting, Our lovely house, an ancient renewed cottage with panoramic pool is located in the middle of splendid Casentino Valley countryside. From the pool a beautiful view on the Pratomagno mountains and the Casentino Valley with its famous National Park. Even if our pool is a share pool, every family has its own intimacy and privacy bacause our guests use our house also to organize daily trips to the art towns and use seldom our pool. Our farmhouse, divided into two portions, lies next to National Park of Casentino. 540 metres above sea level. Each portion of ours is ca. 85 SM, two floors, upper+ground floor, comfortable and rustic furnishings: down hall with living room with open fireplace and satellite-tv, eating room and kitchen; upper floor, doublebedroom, twinbed-room, bath/bidet/wc, shower/bidet/.
From 2024 the two rooms will be equipped with a new air conditioning system which will produce hot and cold air and will also have a dry function:..Facilities: washing machine and dish-maschine, sat tv. Equipped garden (BBQ, table, chairs and sunbeds), swimming pool with its furniture (12x6 m, depth 150 cm, open 15th May. -25th/30th Sept). At the pool also outside shower. Absolute privacy and a maximum of security are guaranteed also for children, far from any traffic. In Ornina you find a really relaxing holiday in the silence of nature! Also degustation of our red and white bio-wine! In our property we rent two portions but our sister in law with rents sometimes her portion and her eventually guests could use the pool. Nevertheless every our guest can be delighted by tranquillity and rest. At our winery a wine tasting is offered. At the pool also our nephew's guests (2 portion). That means that the sharing pool is for maximun 3 portions. Our and two other of the neighbar house above (Marco's house where also winey is).

We had a good holiday. The swimming pool was really lovely, but it is a shared space. The cottage was spacious and spotlessly clean. The furnishings were quite dated. Would recommend more comfortable outdoor seating. We enjoyed the area which is not overrun with tourists. The local pizzeria Mulfino, was great. There were a few issues with the electrics. It probably needs upgrading.

Its a nice place but it is on top of a hill with a really small road to it...almost no place to pass another car. When we arrived the host thought we would arrive the day after, so we had to wait for another hour for the key. The house was fine, big enough, nice bedrooms and living room and kitchen is fine. The pool is great! The winery is super and really tastefull! We had a nice vacation.

A fantastic Tuscan experience

We spent two weeks in Ornina at the end of July and were completely delighted with both the house and the surrounding area. Our apartment was perfectly clean, simpl but beautifully furnished. Everything is in authentic, rural Tuscan style. We had an absolutely lovely time in Ornina. Massimo, Cecilia and Marco with his wonderful wines are grat hosts.The swimming pool is a really nice place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Tuscan nature and the Arno valley.The countryside is breathtaking. House Ornina is also perfectly located if you want to make day trips to famous towns like Arezzo, Siena, Florence, Perugia.. We certainly will visit Ornina again !

Relaxing place in Tuscany

This is an absolutely private place in the Tuscany’s hills. You can relax all day, but if you want the hustle and bustle of the city, Arezzo is the nearest big city (Siena 1.5 hours by car). There are several restaurants to choose nerby. A major shopping centre is 20-30 minutes away. The house is typical Tuscan style and well equipped, energy consumption needs attention but we had no problem. The big pool was our favourite, we spent almost the whole day there, there’s not much else to do on a hot summer day. We recommend the place for those who prefer relaxation and retreat.

Casa Giannino

Thank you, Cecilia and Massimo, for your hospitality! We (2 adults, 3 kids (ages 15/13/8)) spent 16 wonderful days in the lovely Casa Giannino! The house and property are very well taken care of. The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need (except an oven; there is a toaster oven and we managed just fine), the covered breakfast nook was the perfect spot to start the day, the pool is clean and large, the grounds are well kept, and view over the valley is spectacular. It was a fantastic home base for our daily trips exploring the region and for relaxing at the pool, both in the morning and the evenings. We hiked a lot in the Foreste Casentinesi, explored the monasteries of La Verna and Camaldoli, went to Arezzo, Florenz, Anghiari, Poppi, and many more tiny medieval towns, enjoyed all the Gelato we could find and many dinners at various restaurants (Il Mulino in Rassina is a definite favorite). It was great to meet Marco and Greta, the vintners operating the Ornina winery, see their operation and purchase the wine made right there on the premises. All in all it was a fantastic vacation with many new discoveries, we would love to visit again! Cheers!

Das Haus befindet sich in einem sehr schönen Teil von Toscana und der Pool sowie Außenanlagen sind sehr sauber und gut gehalten. Das Haus selbst ist geräumig, aber etwas heruntergekommen und der Unterhalt könnte besser sein (Spühlmaschine hat nicht sauber gespühlt, Klobrille war locker, Mückengitter konnten nicht bewegt werden und es hat bei Starkregen durch den Kamin reingeregnet, was aber nicht sonderlich interessiert hat, als wir es gemeldet haben).

Beau séjour Toscan

Nous avons passé 3 semaines très agréables à Ornina. Un décors magique et un calme total. La piscine pour les retours de ballades et superbe et le jardin très bien entretenu. La maison très agréable également, demande quelques travaux mais la propriétaire va les faire. Sinon c est très confortable. Attention toutefois les belles villes et villages ne sont pas à moins de 30 mn de voiture. 1h 30 pour Florence, 1h45 pour siene, 1h45 pour Perouzze. Mais le temps de trajet vaut le coup, tant le retour à la maison est sublime. A essayer absolument le restaurant se trouvant à Castel Focognano pour la qualité de l assiette et le village ( tout prêt lui par contre). Enfin passer par la Ombrie tout aussi magnifique que la Toscane et à equi- distance d autres beaux endroits Toscans ( gros plus de cette location ). Merci à Massimo !!!!! On recommande ++++++++++++

Ruhe und Natur

Wir, 2 Erwachsene, waren 14 Tage in diesem wundervollen Ferienhaus. Es ist sehr schön gelegen, mitten in der Natur, viel Grün, toller Ausblick auf die bewaldeten Hügel der Toskana, viele Tiere... Wer Ruhe und Entspannung sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und der Kontakt zu Cecilia war verbindlich und sehr herzlich. Sie hatte uns vor der Ankunft schon viele Tipps per email geschickt, wo wir am besten einkaufen, essen usw. Das war super. So haben wir Angelio und seine Familie aus dem Restaurant Il Mulino kennengelernt und die beste Pizza überhaupt gegessen. Unbedingt hingehen! In der Umgebung haben wir uns viele kleine, tolle Orte angesehen, von Bibienna über Poppi bis Arezzo. Die größeren sehenswerten Städte wie Siena, Florenz, San Gimignano oder Pisa sind immer ein Tagesausflug , aber es lohnt sich und in Arezzo gibt es einen Bahnhof mit Direktverbindung nach Florenz. Im Haus selbst sind die wichtigsten Dinge vorhanden, die Küche ist vollständig eingerichtet, Öl, Gewürze etc. Haben wir vor Ort gekauft. Wir haben uns im Haus, dem geräumigen Wohnzimmer und auch an den schattigen Sitzplätzen um das Haus herum sehr wohlgefühlt, hatten einen guten Mix aus Entspannung am Pool und Unternehmungen. (Mückenschutz nicht vergessen!) Wir danken Cecilia und Massimo für den herzlichen Kontakt und den tollen Tipp bei Greta und Mario eine Weinprobe zu machen. Das war auch ein ganz tolles Erlebnis. Wir können diese Destination nur empfehlen und werden vielleicht nochmal wiederkommen, denn es gibt so Vieles in der Toskana zu sehen und zu erleben.

Relaxing holiday in the hills with a gorgeous pool

We had a great two weeks staying in the house. It was really spacious and had everything we needed. Although there was no air conditioning it wasn’t needed, as the building is a traditional Tuscan farmhouse with really thick walls so no need to worry about the heat. The pool was a major highlight - really big and great for swimming properly in, as well as splashing around for the kids. There are four families who can stay altogether as the pool is shared with more flats but this wasn’t a problem and most of the time we were on our own in the pool. Great location for Arezzo, Florence, Poppi and some great walks in the hills nearby when it gets too hot. I can highly recommend it!

Ruhe in der Abgeschiedenheit

Es war genau das, was wir gesucht und erwartet hatten: eine geräumige Unterkunft im typischen Stil der Toskana abseits der touristischen Hochburgen und mit einem Swimmingpool. Die Unterkunft fanden wir dank ausführlicher deutscher Beschreibung, der Kontakt mit Cecilia war schon vor der Ankunft sehr hilfreich und sie hat sich um alles gekümmert, auch bei Nachfragen vor Ort. Wir haben uns in der sehr sauberen Unterkunft sehr wohl gefühlt, die Ausstattung der Wohnung ist hervorragend. Zu kämpfen hatten wir mit den Mücken und Bremsen, aber da kann der Vermieter nichts dafür und hat auch versucht, durch Versprühen von Mitteln die Lage zu verbessern. Die Abgeschiedenheit des Hauses ist Vor- und Nachteil zugleich, bei Ausflügen ist man schon immer eine Zeit unterwegs. In Erinnerung bleiben wird uns auch ein unglaublicher Nachthimmel, den man so in Bayern wegen der Lichtverschmutzung kaum mehr zu sehen bekommt. Danke Cecilia fü eine sehr schöne Woche!

Prachtig gelegen eenvoudig maar charmant huis

We hebben genoten! Eenvoudig maar ruime woning met een overdekt terrasje waar je ook bij warm weer kan zitten en eten. Het uitzicht is fantastisch en het zwembad ligt ook heel mooi. Er zijn voldoende ligstoelen. In de regio is voldoende te doen. We hebben Arrezzo, Assisie, Anghieri en Firenze bezocht en we hebben mooie wandelingen gemaakt in het natuurpark Casentino. Communicatie met Cecilia ging prima en ze waren zeer behulpzaam met tips. Een aanrader!

Deux semaines très agréables dans une maison spacieuse et bien équipée quoique un peu vieillissante. La piscine même partagée est très agréable et calme avec une exposition idéal (du soleil et de l’ombre toute la journée). Schöne geräumige Ferienwohnung mit schönem Pool in einer herrlichen Landschaft

Uns (6köpfige Familie) hat die Ferienwohnung gut gefallen. Sie ist ruhig gelegen und gut geeignet um Ausflüge in die Natur zu machen oder auch in die nahegelegenen schönen Dörfer und Städte wie z.B. Arezzo. Der Pool ist gut gepflegt und man kann auch vorort tolle entspannte Tage verbringen. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Uns haben allerdings der Weg von der Küche zu den Essplätzen im Garten und die Insekten vor allem abends davon abgehalten öfter draussen gemütlich zu speisen, das war etwas schade.

We, a German family of five (3 children aged 15,12 and 8) and our dog stayed in Ornina for two weeks in August 2018. We loved it instantly and were enchanted by the special spirit it is radiating. We enjoyed the peaceful, quiet atmosphere as much as the beautiful views of the surrounding hills and valley. We enjoyed relaxing and swimming in the pool ( which was cleaned daily and well looked after just like anything else) as well as bicycle tours which were quite challenging due to the hilly landscape. There are many places within reach which are worth a visit. We went to Caprese Michelangelo, Anghiari, Camaldoli +Eremo, Poppi, Firenze, Arezzo, Siena, Cortona and Lago Trasimeno. Last but not least we tasted and enjoyed the fine organic wine produced by Marco and Greta and got some insight into the making of the wine. Thanks to both of them for answering all our questions and for the tasty tomatoes! Lovely place, refreshing pool and friendly owners

This is our 5th time coming to the lovely Cottage of Ornina. We love the place because it is calm, surrounded by beautiful nature with a big refreshing pool and a simple but authentic Tuscany-style interior of the House. For your excursions you can do beautiful bike tours, drive to charming Arrezzo in 30 Minutes or have a culture and shopping day in Firenze. There are also plenty of other charming sites to see, such as Poppi with its old castle or la Verna, the Franciscan Sanctuary. The owner is very friendly and helps you with all you need. A superb family holiday

We spent two weeks at this wonderful property in August 2016. We have three teenage daughters and found Ornina absolutely ideal. It is set in beautiful Tuscan countryside with great views and is slightly off the beaten track. It is a bit further from the classic Tuscan sights, such as Lucca or Siena, but these places are easy to reach, and the advantage of Ornina is that there are fewer tourists in the region. Everything feels authentically Italian, including the friendly and welcoming restaurants in nearby Rassina. The house is very spacious and had everything we needed. We loved the terrace, and the pool was superb. Cecelia and her extended family, some of whom greeted us when we arrived, were always incredibly helpful and warm. It truly was one of our very best family holidays. Thank you!

When we got there the greeting was very nice and all of the pre booking was easy and simple. The View was lovely but the oven was broken and the shower leaks into the dining area. The pool and the view were lovely but wasn't relaxing at all from either being attacked by horse flies every 10 seconds or the near by farm starting work at 7 until late every day. Overall I wouldn't stay here again.

Tolle Unterkunft. Entsprach voll und ganz unseren Erwartungen Wir wurden am 25. April von Dino (Cecilia und Massimo) sehr herzlich empfangen, die Wohnung entsprach voll und ganz unseren Erwartungen. Das Haus liegt so herrlich abgelegen, die Stille ist spürbar und in der Nacht sind die Sterne ganz nah. Das ganze Haus ist liebevoll, es ist einfach aber mit Charme eingerichtet. Auch die Umgebung haben wir phantastisch gefunden: Casentino haben wir noch nicht besichtigt. Ein herrlicher Garten mit diversen Sitzgelegenheiten, Grillplatz und Pool. Leider war es noch zu kalt). Und dann die Sicht in die toskanischen Hügel, einfach nur dasitzen, ein Glas Wein zum Apéro trinken und träumen, das ist ein echt erholsamer Urlaub!! Wie gesagt: Tolle Unterkunft. Wir haben auch Arezzo, Florenz und Rom besichtigt! Unkomplizierte Unterbringung von 2 Familien mit insgesamt 10 Personen (6 Kinder dabei). Sauberer Pool mit herrlichen Liegestühlen und tollem Blick in die Ferne. Auch im April zu empfehlen. Ornina fanden vor allem die Kinder klasse.

Relaxing place and friendly Owners

We had a very relaxing time and enjoyed the pool, the nice outdoor terrace and the natural surroundings a lot. We travelled with our two kids and our dog and felt very good at that lovely and relaxing place ! The owners very friendly and helpful and gave us all information we needed, so we did feel very welcome and also knew where to go for sightseeing or for a good meal. We will come again this year and are looking forward to another lovely week in Tuscany !

What to visit: Arezzo is an extraordinary city of art renowned for its goldsmiths and antiques traders. The old town is home to valuable monuments including the imposing Medici Fortress, the Cathedral, the Diocesan Museum and the Basilica of San Domenico. The Archaeological Museum showcases many a valuable find, recalling the city’s importance during the Etruscan heyday. The heart of the city is Piazza Grande, surrounded by buildings of various periods and styles - among them the Medieval towers and the Renaissance style Loggiato Vasariano (Visit also Casa Vasari). The itinerary continues to Monterchi, with its stunning fresco of the Madonna del Parto. Do not miss a visit to the small town of Caprese Michelangelo, the birthplace of Michelangelo Buonarroti; a museum, set within the old castle, is dedicated to the artist. Of great artistic and religious interest is the Sanctuary of La Verna in the Casentino Forests. Visit Florence and Siena, too.
What to do: Unspoiled nature and cultivated countryside! the Province of Arezzo offers a variety of opportunities to enjoy a holiday in the open air, taking part in various physical activities. The Foreste Casentinesi Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park is the ideal place for excursions on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, while in winter the same paths can be enjoyed on skis and snowshoes. Cycling enthusiasts can follow the Canale Maestro della Chiana bike and foot trail from Arezzo to Cortona, through areas perfectly suited for an athletic holiday amidst unspoiled scenery.
Gourmands may choose to follow the food and wine itineraries that wind through the main valleys of Arezzo Province.

Ideal for familes of any age. It is a truly beautiful and restful location. The renovated cottage is home from home and the pool a delight. You are surrounded by nature. There is also plenty to see and do a little further afield - Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Poppi, Roma, Perugia. It's possible to visit Rome on a day especially if you take the Frecciarossa train from Arezzo (it take only 1,10 h). Also the train Arezzo-Florence is very confortable: The direct train takes 1 h and the Frecciarossa takes 35 min.
