Sleeps 8 - With its inspirational setting, this cottage is not just by the sea, it is in the sea. Situated in arguably the finest location in the picturesque fishing village of Pittenweem, this refitted 18th century cottage has been transformed into perfect holiday accommodation for a party of up to 8. House on the Rock has a magnificent coastal setting on the harbour of old Pittenweem, one of the most charming fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife. The house is set on the rocks overlooking the Firth of Forth and enjoys spectacular south-facing views out across the water towards the Bass Rock and North Berwick beyond.
Totally refurbished during 2012 and new bathrooms and soft furnishings in 2018, the cottage offers a remarkable lounge with south facing windows, breath-taking views to the south, west and east, across the lapping waves of the Forth. There is one double bedroom and two twin bedded rooms, all with en suite facilities and a further spacious attic twin room. A luxury kitchen has been newly installed and there is a separate dining room to relax over dinner after a day spent enjoying the East Neuk of Fife equipped with a wood-burning stove.
The renovations have been carried out sympathetically maintaining many original features while incorporating life's little luxuries.

The property was exactly as depicted in the website. The location was great, and we didn’t venture far. There’s plenty to do close by and we enjoyed the outdoor pool as well as relaxing around the front with the sun shining and the peaceful atmosphere.
Aside from a few vagaries with the heating system, all went extremely well, and we were very pleased with the property.
The one amenity that I found lacking was there was no soap and shampoo in the showers.
This is a very nice property ideal for a large family or maybe 3 couples. Three fishermen cottages from the mid-1700s have been converted to make this spectacular house with incredible views over the Firth of Forth. It has been tastefully renovated and is well equipped.
We were there with 7 people, two children 4 & 7, one young adult, and two couples. It worked very well for us.
The only slightly negative thing I had to say was the loft room has a toilet but no shower and the kitchen area was difficult to heat. The rest of the house was toasty, the bathrooms were very nicely renovated, and the living room had views that everyone will appreciate.
Fife Cottages communicated well, even to the point of reaching out to let us know that the house was ready early if we wanted to access it before the regular time.
There are a few supermarket options within a 10 minute drive and several eating options within a 5 minute walk. I would recommend the “Chip-Shop” in the harbour area which also doubles as the local pub, restaurant, local gathering place. Great atmosphere and excellent service. There is also a very nice upmarket restaurant and a bakery a short walk up the hill.
The Fife Coastal Path passes right behind the house and makes for excellent walks with great views.
wonderful location meant that it didn't matter that there was very wild and wet weather as the view over the sea was so dramatic.
Ideally kitted out with everything you could possibly need.
My husband and I took our parents on a bucket list vacation to Scotland. Our stay at the House on the Rock was absolute perfection!! We all had an amazing time. Everyone was so at home and the owners have done such a great job not only supplying all the modern conveniences we were used to but the way in which this home is decorated is so inviting. I have told everyone I know that if they get a chance to travel to Scotland staying in this home is a must!! I cannot wait to bring our family back again.
