We had the perfect weekend getaway for fall. The cottage has everything you need, the bed upstairs (the only one we used) was comfortable and plenty of additional throws were available for chilly nights.
Such a quaint mountain home! The real fireplace was a plus since the weather was very cold! I love the porches and can’t wait to return when it is warm enough to enjoy them! The bed was very comfortable and I especially loved the lush Biltmore bath towels!
We rarely get away for the weekend, so we’re particular about where we stay—and we couldn’t have chosen better. This quiet, serene farmstead is just what we were looking for. The hosts are very welcoming and available if needed. The farmstead in its entirety feels beautifully lived-in, tucked away in steep hillsides with exposed boulders, pastures, old orchards, and forests - lots of room to explore, roam, and contemplate. The cottage was perfect, with everything we could want for our weekend escape. Highlights included a back porch overlooking old apple trees, grapevines, a few chickens, and birdwatching with morning coffee. And if we were lucky, the cat would bestow on us a brief visit. Clear directions lead you to a hike that starts right behind the cottage. We highly recommend a walk to the top and around the rim of the property for sweeping 360 degree mountain views, wildflowers, and plenty of birdwatching, ending in a pasture where two curious donkeys welcome you back. The property is a short drive to Lansing, an idyllic small town complete with a small local grocery store, coffee shop, weekend tailgate market, and a greenway that follows the river. If you can tear yourself away, other unique natural areas are close by, including Grayson Highlands, which offers high elevation forest hikes, and Appalachian balds. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to friends.
We visit this gorgeous property every year and it remains one of our very places in the world! Beautiful grounds, lovely hosts, lots to do in the surrounding area... 10/10 always!
Wonderful place to stay in a very beautiful and peaceful setting. The cabin was everything we needed and more! Lansing is a sweet little town and we were close to West Jefferson and many parks and rivers.
We've had the pleasure of staying at Old Orchard Creek several times and it remains our very favorite of all our family trips! Beautiful property, gorgeous landscape and generous hosts. A wonderful summer treat!
This was a fun place to stay for our trip around ashe county. It gave us access to hiking and the town was having a fun fair at the local park.
It is a lively town with a lot of local fun. The people there are obviously proud of the town!
Our family had a wonderful time getting away for a few days-the solitude and peace found here is so good for the soul. Thank you Walter and Johnny for opening up your home, we will be back!
The cabin was just as pictured inside, updated and clean but with nice quaint touches. Photos do no justice to how beautiful and peaceful the property is. It is the perfect balance of “away from it all” without being too remote. Would definitely visit again!
You couldn't ask for a lovelier location with better views and nicer accommodations. Far enough away to feel remote close enough to things you need to not be inconvenient

We look forward to our visit to Old Orchard Creek Farm every year. The cabin is spacious, well appointed and just lovely. The view from the back porch is a magical place to have your morning coffee. The views from the top of the hiking trail are absolutely spectacular!
Johnny and Walter are fantastic hosts. We highly recommend and will most definitely be returning.
This our third stay at this beautiful property and it did not disappoint. Gorgeous scenery, friendly hosts, impeccable cabin and delicious blueberries. It is a family favorite and we will be back again! Don't miss a chance to swing by the Old Orchard Creek General Store (recently opened by the property owners) in downtown Lansing while you're there. It offers delicious coffee and is stocked with local beer and cider, honey, jams, books, art, pottery, textiles - the works!
