Searenity is a modern holiday home and has been independently assessed and given a 4.5 Star Rating by AAA Tourism. This 3 bedroom holiday home is located in a peaceful area at idyllic Emu Bay on the north coast of Kangaroo Island.

Enjoy sweeping sea views from the living area and deck. Searenity is spacious, elegantly appointed and provides all the facilities and comforts for a relaxing stay for just a couple or up to 8 guests. It offers 2 bathrooms, an additional powder room and a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher.

Other features include FREE Wi-Fi,Flatscreen HD TV, DVD, Foxtel (satellite TV), r/c air conditioning and carport. All bed linen and bath towels are included in the tariff.

Take advantage of the close proximity to the beautiful safe swimming beach or childrens playground nearby. Launch your own boat from boat ramp or fish from either the jetty or beach or perhaps use one of the local fishing charters. Emu Bay is only a 15min drive to the Island's main township of Kingscote and central to the island's natural attractions.

Your hosts live nearby and will meet you on your arrival. They pride themselves on providing a high standard of personalised service and a very high standard of cleanliness, continually reflected in our guest review comments.

There are board games, Foxtel with additional streaming services (e.g., HBO Max), beautiful view of the ocean and the daily visit from Skippy the kangaroee to keep everyone entertained. Kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances and requirements (e.g., pots, pans, cutlery, crockery), house was clean.Herb lives next door and had the joy of chatting with him to learn more about the island and the history of the home. Herb is friendly and welcoming, just like the home!

The perfect home away from home. Very well equipped, clean, beautiful water views, everything that we used worked (even wifi which we can’t often say), lots of nice touches, quality provisions - its hard to find a fault. Lovely stay with everything we needed

The property had everything we needed (and more), was very well maintained and provided a great base for two families holidaying together. The nearby kangaroos, beachfront penguins, ever present pelicans, geckos and wallabies just added to the fun. The resident echidna was a huge hit. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

Beautiful location overlooking Emu Bay on Kangaroo Island. Watch kangaroos come out at sunrise and sunset. We were also able to spot four koalas in the trees nearby. And we saw two rarely seen Echidnas. No emus though

Best Place to Stay

What an amazing place to stay it was absolutely perfect in every way. Accomodation was modern, clean and has absolutely everything you need. Wonderful Getaway

This property is stunning!! Herb was very easy to contact and had terrific ideas on trip planning! There were koalas in the neighborhood trees, an echidna and several kangaroos in the yard, and lots of birds. I loved watching the dolphins while drinking my coffee on the porch. Beautiful home with gorgeous flowers, plenty of room, and everything is kept in tip-top shape. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kangaroo Island!

The view, the location, the wildlife!!!

We had a fabulous time on KI. Our accommodation was clean and extremely comfortable. Location was perfect and we enjoyed getting up early to see the sunrise and walking down to the playground and wharf each day. The highlight was seeing koala's and echidnas out the front of the house ... and that view! Just fantastic. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for making our stay so enjoyable.

Superb location

The property had wonderful views and is located where it is straight forward to explore KI. The amenities were first class lacking for nothing in the kitchen and elsewhere. Herb having been a ranger on KI for some 30 years was able to advise where and when to go during our 4 night stay. Highly recommended.

Beautiful House with Amazing Views

Cannot fault anything! Beautiful house in a fantastic location with amazing views. The house had every amenity you could need and was spotlessly clean and modern. The owners communicated well and on arrival suggested places for us to visit. There were kangaroos and koalas right next to the property. We even had an echidna come into the front garden. Would definitely recommend this property and the location was great for visiting all of KI’s attractions.

Family fishing & site seeing getaway

A fabulous holiday in KI had by all. You couldn’t ask for better hosts in Herb & Janette and the holiday house was second to none (a home away from home). Beautiful views on awakening each day, along with a resident kangaroo and stunning birdlife. We visited some amazing sites and managed to go fishing. Herb shared his extensive knowledge of the island and provided us with a detailed map showing popular sites to visit. Fantastic House, Amazing Hosts. Couldn't ask for more

What a fantastic place to stay. Great location in a quiet nook of Kangaroo Island with the most stunning views of the water. The perfect base to see everything Kangaroo Island has to offer. The house was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. There was thoughtful touches everywhere and your every need seemed to have been thought of by the hosts, even ones we hadn't thought of. The hosts, Herb and Janette, were amazing. When we arrived after dark, Herb met us with a torch to guide us exactly where we needed to go. The house was very welcoming with the lights and heater on. Herb had gone to the trouble of highlighting a map for us and gave us a brief rundown on the island, as well as a few tips and tricks. The house was spotless and so welcoming. One of the best parts of the day was breakfast on the deck looking over the water. We even had a few friends join us in the form of kangaroos, birds and a koala. Searenity is truly one of the best properties we have ever stayed. The house, amazing and the hosts, so welcoming and friendly without being in any way intrusive. We cannot wait to return to Kangaroo Island and we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Thank you Herb and Janette for helping make our stay so memorable.

Sehr schönes Haus mit fantastischem Ausblick

Wir waren 10 Tage auf Kangaroo Island. Das Haus ist wunderschön und hat einen fantastischen Ausblick auf das Meer und die Felder. Es ist mit allem, was man braucht, ausgestattet, vor allem in der Küche. Alles ist sehr sauber und gut gepflegt, sowohl im Haus als auch auf der Terrasse. Ganz besonders haben wir die Heizdecken in den Doppelbetten geschätzt, die haben wir noch in keiner Unterkunft vorgefunden. Die Lage des Hauses ist wunderbar, sehr ruhig und bester Ausgangspunkt für Unternehmungen und Tierbeobachtungen. Selbst in den Feldern und Bäumen rund um das Haus konnten wir Kängurus, Koalas, Pinguine, Echidnas und viele Vögel entdecken. Herb ist ein sehr herzlicher und freundlicher Gastgeber, er kann viele wertvolle Tipps geben und erfüllt alle Wünsche. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und alles war bestens! Wenn wir noch mal nach Kangaroo Island kommen sollten, würden wir sehr glücklich sein, wieder in Herbs schönem Haus wohnen zu dürfen.

Home away from home

Herb and Janette are fantastic hosts whose property is in a beautiful location and who go beyond the usual to make sure their house is well stocked with those conveniences that you take for granted at home including utensils, crockery, and pantry basics for groups up to 8 people. They even had picnic resources, travel mugs and thermoses for us to take out during our day trips. Their friendliness and local knowledge also made sure we made the most of our short time on KI.

Wonderful holiday home in a wonderful location

Our wonderful hosts Herb and Janette provided the best equipped and most comfortable holiday home we have stayed in.The home has a lovely view to the sea and is in a whisper quiet location. The kitchen and lounge are spacious and well equipped. Location was very close to the jetty, beach, penguins and a koala. The deck was a wonderful highlight at the beginning and end of wonderful day trips around the island. The home was very clean. We had a wonderful holiday.

Luxury Plus!

If you are after luxury and top end finishes, plus friendly and helpful owners then this is definitely the place for you. Great views, kangaroos in the back paddock, a resident echidna and everything you could possibly want for anything from one night to a week or two. Plenty of space, and super friendly hosts to give hints on what to see and where the best places to visit are. Cannot recommend highly enough - if I ever come back to Kangaroo Island this is where I’m staying.

We lived in Bridgewater in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia for 20 years before returning to live at Emu Bay, Kangaroo Island in 2005.
We had previously lived on Kangaroo Island when Herb was the District Ranger in Charge of the west end of Kangaroo Island. During this time we lived at both Kelly Hill Caves and Flinders Chase National Park and therefore know the Island and all of its attractions well.
Apart from the 5 years based on Kangaroo Island he was also the Operations Manager at Cleland Wildlife Park in the Adelaide Hills and also spent a year working for the Oregon State Parks Service in the USA as part of the first International Ranger Exchange Program. In 2003 Herb left the National Parks and Wildlife Service after a 30 year career to pursue our dream of an "Island Sea Change".
Janette has worked as an Information Officer at Belair National Park and then spent 9 years as an Office Administrator at an Aged Care Complex in the Adelaide Hills before moving to Emu Bay.
As our son and daughter are now adults with their own careers, we have opted to pursue our love for the more relaxed lifestyle on Kangaroo Island.
