Do you really want to get away from it all and take a step back in time? Make your way to our cabin that overlooks part of the Savage Gulf State Natural Area, and it sits on the edge of a bluff which has a great 180 degree unobstructed views of the mountains and valley. There are family-friendly activities such as a basketball court, tennis court, and hiking. You’ll love our place because of the coziness and how rustic it is. Great for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids older than 2 years old), and medium size groups.
10 minutes to groceries, gas and other essentials; 36 minutes to The Caverns (new home of the PBS series "Bluegrass Underground", and a truly unique year-round live music venue); 5 minutes to the Savage Gulf/Stone Door area of South Cumberland State Park (at 31,000 acres, Tennessee's largest state park, famous for its waterfalls, vistas, hiking, backpacking); 35 minutes to Monteagle and the Fiery Gizzard area of the State Park; 45 minutes to Sewanee and the University of the South. This is a great 'base camp' from which you can take easy day trips to some of the best Tennessee has to offer: 1hr 18minutes to Chattanooga's Tennessee Aquarium, Rock City, Ruby Falls and other attractions; 1hr 12 minutes to Jack Daniel and George Dickel distillery tours or to Fall Creek Falls State Park (highest waterfall in the eastern U.S.); 1hr 45 minutes to Huntsville (AL)'s U.S. Space and Rocket Center or Nashville's Music Row, or 2 hrs to white water rafting on the Ocoee or Hiwassee Rivers. All the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains without all the crowds!
Activities on the property include hiking, basketball, and tennis. The property sits on 12 acres and you do not see any other man made structures in the view from the back porch.
The wood on the main part of this cabin comes from an old farm house that was built in the 1800s an hour away from Beersheba Springs, torn down, and reassembled at its current location.
The large porches provide a wonderful outdoor living space that helps you soak in that 180 degree view of the mountains and valley below. There is even a couch swing so you can take a nap or enjoy the view with several of your closest friends or family.
There is a working wood burning fire place that helps add even more charm to your stay.
Outside of the basketball and tennis courts there is a game and puzzle closet to keep you busy on those cold and rainy days. There is also life size jenga as well as a cornhole set located in the downstairs bedroom.
This cabin has everything you need to truly relax and spend quality time with your closest friends and family. Local activities within a five mile radius include Greeter Falls and Stone Door which is part of Savage Gulf State Park.

Incredible views out back! Sunrise was spectacular! House was really nice with some cool features. We had a great time and would welcome another stay in this “away from most things” setting!
Great place to stay! Loved the view and the rustic feel of the house. We did a a few issues with a couple big wasps inside the house on our first night, and we had a hard time locating extra towels and such to make sure everyone had what they needed. I was thankful for the citronella candles as our group wanted to spend most of their time on the deck, while mosquitoes weren’t much of an issues chiggers were. A few of our group were eaten up after sitting on the deck furniture. We also enjoyed the games and Cornhole, but it would be nice if the games and toys were more organized and if there could be a pump to air up the basketball. I think previous guests had not put things back neatly and that made it difficult to see what was there without making a mess.
We absolutely love staying at this cabin. Beautiful scenery, fabulous dishes and the most well stocked kitchen ever! We love all the various bedrooms so we can all spread out. Most of our time is spent on the deck enjoying the mountain air. Will be back time and time again!

Jennefer, im glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome back anytime.
A sisterhood of female artists friends came together from Mississippi to Alabama to Boston to Tennessee to Oklahoma, Nebraska ... to enjoy the scenery and be filled by the beautiful surroundings. It was an amazing weekend of creativity and this place was perfect.

Shannon, i am glad you and your group had such a great time. Please come back soon!
The house and back deck was perfect for 10 ladies. We had room to spread out and the 2 big tables were perfect for games. The cabin is old and is probably as clean as it can get, which was fine. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed. They have a drip coffee pot and a Keurig, huge fridge and lots of pots and pans. The host was also very responsive to questions I had after we booked. We will definitely stay here again!
The property is beautiful, peaceful, and lots of space for all the family. It's within a close drive to all the state park areas we wanted to visit. It wasn't the cleanest I'd personally like, not counting the critters. Regardless, I believe I would stay there again.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Beersheba Springs cabin!!! Very peaceful and relaxing. We were going to take a day trip into Chattanooga and decided to do some hiking locally so we would be closer to the cabin. Again, we loved it and will definitely be back soon.

Fabulous Views From Family Cabin
This is our second time to stay at this family cabin! We love the back deck and the amount of beds and bathrooms. The kitchen is so well stocked and we love using all the beautiful dishes and serving ware. It's a gorgeous surrounding, peaceful and quiet. Would definitely recommend for larger groups. Tons of activities. Looking forward to going back in the fall!

Thank you Jennefer! I enjoyed hosting your group. Cant wait for your return in the fall!
Friends from Texas and Georgia met at this cabin to hike the area and reconnect. Our group was 3 adults and 7 kids age 5-16. The cabin gave everyone private space as well as the BEST communal spaces. The deck and view were better than anything we saw hiking, and the front yard and neighborhood were perfect for being active outside while “home.” The cabin is “rustic” but spacious and fully functional with dishes and towels and comfortable beds and furniture. We couldn’t have enjoyed it more. We hope to come back some day!

Very kind words and thank you. Im glad you had a great time!
As long as you know it’s rustic going you’re going to love it! The view off the back deck is amazing… we pretty much just sat there, except for eating and sleeping. Stone door and greeter falls are long time faves and this cabin is conveniently situated between them. Pots and pans and silverware and any dishes you would need. The beds were comfortable, plenty of room for our group, and it was a great moms getaway weekend.

This cabin delivered an absolutely beautiful and peaceful retreat.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cabin. We had plenty of room to sleep, eat, relax, and visit. The view from the amazing back deck were breathtaking. The only regret was not doing my research on the exact location We were almost a good hour from Sewanee. The drive had to be made several times with three different commitments
I would highly recommend this cabin as long as you don’t need to be in Monteagle or Sewanee during the stay.

Hey Amy! We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
You are correct, it is not a short drive from Beersheba Springs to Monteagle or Sewanee. Usually about a 45 min drive each way.
I hope you guys are able to stay in the area next time and enjoy all the hiking Savage Gulf State Park has to offer. It is only a 5 min drive from the cabin.
Thanks for staying with us!
We had a wonderful time! The view of Savage Gulf was beautiful. Mother Nature helped out with an evening thunderstorm light show and some remarkable morning mist. Highly recommend catering a meal from Polly….great suggestion.
The children loved the daily visits from Maya. The heads up information really helped enhanced the encounters.
Hope to visit again!
We had an amazing time! The cabin is rustic but very confortabke, with all you need and more. Beds are confortable and it has a big table that was perfect for our group of ten. But the best is that the porch has a breathtaking view! Very close to nice hiking spots. The basketball court in front of the cabin made our 13 years old superhappy! Owner was very responsive and answered all of our questions right away. Perfect spot to spend time together with friends and family!

Beautiful Family Cabin
We cannot wait to get back to Backacrers Inn! Gorgeous setting! House has a huge kitchen that is fully stocked with beautiful plates and serving ware. Had comfortable furniture, tons of beds, the most comfortable mattresses!! Had plenty of games and activities for all. Ton of firewood. Tons of room to spread out. We spent most of our day lounging on the deck in the sun. It's really the most cozy place we have every stayed! Loved every minute of it!!

I took my five sons for a weekend of hiking in the Savage Gulf area. We purposely choose a rustic place to stay and prefer it and that's exactly what this cabin is. It's a 100 year old log cabin that is located close to all the best hiking areas. It has just enough comforts of home to enjoy; but still very rustic and very simple and clean. Our fav parts about this cabin were the fireplace and the VIEW. It sits on top of a ridge with a FANTASTIC view. If you want new, better grab a hotel in Monteagle. But if you want an old time primitive log cabin, this is your place. I gave it 5 stars because it was a perfect fit for what we wanted. Would easily stay again.

Jack, im glad to hear you and your sons had a great time at the cabin. Thanks for staying with us.
We absolutely love coming to this cabin. It has become somewhat of a tradition with our friend group. We love the location, the layout of the bedrooms and how spacious everything is. We spend most of our time on the fabulous deck and around the dining tables playing games or doing puzzles. Diners are always so fun here because did the beautiful dishes and napkins. Love how many beds there are! It was nice this last trip to be able to each have our own beds. This is a rustic family cabins me is not pristine. But that’s exactly why we love it so! Will definitely be back in the spring!

Jennefer, I am glad you and your group had another lovely visit. Hope to see you in the spring!
Everything was as advertised, but the property inside was infested with stink bugs by the hundreds. In the beds, counters, walls. We tried to make the best of the beautiful property, but utimately it was not comfortable and ruined our stay. I was prepared for bugs having grown up in the woods, but this was not some bugs. There were Hundreds. Unfortunately, we can’t recommend.

Amanda, im very sorry to hear that. We had cleaning come in a few hours before your stay. We even did some bug treatments thinking it would fix the issues but it obviously didn't. I am happy to refund you your cleaning fee.
I am very sorry for the bug issues and hope that this does not happen again.
Thank you.
About the host
Hosted by Alfred Stewart
This is our family's cabin that we built in 1981. It has been in our family ever sense.
We grew up in the Franklin area just south of Nashville, TN.
We have a passion for working hard, being outside, and spending quality time with our friends and family as well as helping others any chance we get.
Why they chose this property
Our family has been coming to Beersheba Springs, TN since the early 1900s. It started with my great grandfather and we have been going up there ever since.
Going to Beersheba helps us push the reset button on our busy day to day life that we live.
The rustic feel of the cabin and the rich history of Beersheba Springs creates an atmosphere that dates back to the 1800s which is actually how old the wood is that currently makes up the main part of the cabin.
What makes this property unique
It has a front porch swing as well as a church pew and a Jack Daniels barrel we store wood in for the fireplace.
The back porch has a 180 degree unobstructed view of the mountains and valley below. Our favorite feature is the couch swing on the back porch.
The cabin has many puzzles and board games as well as a basketball and tennis courts.
It sits on 3 acres of land that you have full access to.
