The Polehouse complex is of 2 storeys, with the owner's house above, the 2br unit on the lower level (still enjoying fabulous views) and the 2 storey 1br unit semi-detached from the main house. The property faces NE across the lake at the very bottom of Scenic Ct on the left. The garden contains native plants, fruit trees and a wide selection of herbs. NOTE: Guests need to BRING THEIR OWN LINEN (Q/S UPPER and LOWER sheets [the upper sheet prevents the doona making contact with the skin], pillow slips and towels). However, if they can't, they can usually pick it up cheaply at op shops along the way. FREE wi-fi is available. Note, a 4 NIGHT MINIMUM BOOKING applies, except for Christmas/Jan, when it is 7 nights. This listing describes the 1br unit.
1BR UNIT : This 2-storey unit is imaginatively designed in Moroccan style, with many curved motifs. The living and bathing areas are on the lower floor. There is an electric stove with ceramic hotplates, a microwave oven and full-size refrigerator. The shower is placed within a large bath. This bath is NOT to be used as a SPA, as it takes all the hot water. The toilet and washing machine are located in a corner. The unit is heated by a wood burning oven with glass door - the flue warms the bedroom above where there is a Q/S bed. On an outside patio there are a table and chairs. From the bedroom sunbathing deck on the upper floor, dramatic views can be enjoyed over the lake. Covered car parking is located outside the unit at the top of a paved driveway; a boat trailer with a small or medium-sized boat can also be fitted in. Large boats can be parked in the court opposite the property entrance. A double foam mattress is available on the floor to accommodate a young child at an extra $5 per night - linen should be provided by the guests for this. Guests may bring a maximum of 2 pets, with the first being free and the second an extra $5 per night.

We loved this place and this location. On the edge of a lovely town, close to sensational beaches and forest, cosy and peaceful (and it’s January ). If you like quietness and nature and absolute value… stay here!
Welcoming host and comfortable, modern amenities. On the very edge of town, lyrebirds, koalas, thornbills, kangaroos, Koels, whipbirds, wrens,….abound!
Enjoyed our stay, clean comfortable and unique place to stay, comfy bed was a winner, the wood heater was needed a couple of nights and the ceiling fans the other two. We would happily return
Lovely place to relax and read. Beautiful views out to the bay. No air conditioning but a nice breeze. Perfect get away quiet but close to town and beaches. John was very kind and friendly. Would love to stay again.

Thanks Micaelle, I enjoyed your stay as well. Also, you left the place in a very neat and tidy condition. Cheers John
Love tiny mud brick house
On edge of forest with magnificent views of lakes and amazing lyrebirds coming to visit
Koalas wallabies and kangas too.
Great coffee at Beanies and Lucy’s
We absolutely love John's place. It has everything you need and the location is wonderful. It is very quiet and looks over a paddock with kangaroos and onto the inlet - which is stunning. There are stairs to the mezzanine bedroom. It is perfect for a couple or single person.
Our experience at John’s property was unsurpassed. He was welcoming and very attentive without being obtrusive. The property was excellent with sweeping water views, wildlife roaming nearby. A magnificent, tranquil and beautiful setting and first rate venue and facilities. We will definitely be returning!
This was our second time in the mud brick pole house with John as our host. So lovely to be able to bring our new dog Teo whose only complaint was being on lead for a whole week. A beautiful place with peace and quiet, views and everything we needed for a very restful break.
Very nice hosts, very well set up facility with amazing views and peaceful . The only quibble was with the shower which was sited over a large , now unused spa bath . Not easy to access when you are aged in your 70's and there are no grab rails to hang onto . Not as agile as we used to be !
Enjoyed our time in March in the 1 bedroom unit in quiet location with lake views. 5km into town.
Comfortable, firm queen bed in spacious upstairs room.
Good kitchen appliances with everything needed.
Great hot water, with big step into shower.
Good washing machine.
Separate toilet.
Carport.
Communication is good. Wi-Fi good.
Would stay again.

Thanks Rhonda. It's a pity that I was away for most of your stay.
Cheers John
Very unusual build of Adobe and cute.
Brilliant views over the Lake. Not a heap of dog rules which was great. Dogs just not allowed on the carpeted area which was just one bedroom. The rest of the floors were rough slate so ideal. Be aware the Polehouse is in the hilly area of town, hence the views, so you need to be fit enough if you wish to walk your dogs from here. The only leash free area is on the town oval.
Oh, there is no fenced area at the Polehouse.
John, our host, was very friendly and accommodating.
We, are our two large dogs, had a great time.
Beautiful views and wildlife right on the doorstep. Although very hilly and steep. A bit far from the town and beaches but great for peace and quiet. Everything is there in the fully equipped kitchen. Friendly and welcoming proprietor who made arrangements for me to get into the property in his absence. I had a wonderful stay and will go back again.
We loved staying at the Pole house, the view was amazing, John the host was very friendly and helpful, we will definitely stay there again when visiting Mallacoota

The property was not up to scratch in some areas, such as bad fitting curtains. Overall property needs updating.
But did enjoy time in Mallacoota

Short break
Quaint abode, but property unsuitable for elderly people. No heating, ( only coonara) no prepared wood for fire. Question safety of the stairs. Pleasant outlook.

I have many elderly repeat guests who also enjoy preparing kindling. A Coonara IS heating and is designated in the property description. First time the property has been called 'quaint'.
Very tranquil setting on the edge of town. Kangaroo in the adjoining farm land. Wattle birds and king parrots in the native garden. Host is a lovely gentleman.
