Lake Haven Escape..90 minute drive north of Sydney, Pet Friendly

**Fully refurbished June 2025**. Modern and spacious one-bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a 3 storey house. Large and fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, in-room Foxtel platinum package access. Fully separate bedroom with a top quality queen size bed.. Approx. 90 minute drive north of the Sydney CBD. Only minutes to major shopping centre, lakes & stunning beaches.

In addition to high quality accommodation we offer shared access to an air-conditioned entertaining area containing a gym and a pool table

The guest apartment was re-fitted with quality and functionality in mind. As the little touches are what make a trip memorable we've tried our best to compliment the area with tasteful furnishings and fittings. The space will comfortably accommodate up to 4 people; (2 adults, 2 children) and includes everything you'll need for a great stay. A port-a-cot or additional airbed can be provided free of charge if required.

The apartment is fully self-contained with everything you'll need for a great stay.

You'll have your own private entrance via the side of the house making coming and going easy. The pool and spa is available for guest use during your stay as are the Weber BBQ(s) in the pool area.

As the apartment is a section of the ground floor of our house (albeit completely private) we're available for any questions or requirements you may have. We're happy to share our thoughts on the best places to see around the Coast or if you prefer privacy that's fine as well.

We would ask that guests treat our house with the same respect they would their own. Smoking is only permitted in the outside courtyard. Most importantly we hope our guests have a good time and enjoy themselves!

Lake Haven is a suburb at the northern end of the Central Coast on the way to Lake Macquarie. If your driving from the Sydney CBD it's around a 90 minute drive north up the M1 motorway. Close enough for a weekend away but a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Plenty of parking is available,there are shops and lake within walking distance and local buses run regularly with a bus stop 50 meters from our property.

Family catch up

Was very short notice to book a pet friendly bnb. Chose as close to where my family for a family reunion. Bed comfortable unit clean and well stocked . Didn’t have chance to use the amenities this time. But enjoyed our stay . Comfortable bed and the unit was clean and welcoming.

Pleasant place with friendly and accommodating hosts

We only stayed overnight at lake haven so didn’t get a chance to see much of the area, but this was a nice find with a lot of extras to set it apart - lovely pool (with a spa, though we didn’t use), a fun games room, and pet friendly. The hosts were friendly and communicative and though it’s part of their house it felt private. We didn’t attempt to cook but the kitchen seemed decently stocked if you’re planning to. Just a couple of small things to note - there’s no wifi, which is fine, but just be aware that reception for us in the room was very poor so it wouldn’t be ideal if you had to use the internet or work or something. Also be careful when arriving - there is a small (maybe an inch?) drop in the level of the concrete at the bottom of the path leading down to the room which is hard to spot if you’re carrying bags and my son turned his ankle and fell, so just watch your footing!

Great Location

Had a great stay. Owners put a lot of time and effort into keeping the property at its best.

Worth every dollar. Great facilities and loved the little touches of chocolate, coffee pods and wine. Owners welcoming and friendly. Would stay there again and for longer. Top notch.

Excellent property on a budget!

We rally enjoyed our stay. Apartment is really cosy and clean. We even got a bottle of wine on arrival! Loads of DVDs to watch on a rainy day. 10-15 min from the beach, shopping centre just up the road. Definitely would recommend.

beautifully appointed apartment

We only stayed for 12 hours or so, so we didn't make the most of the surroundings. We travelled with our dog, and there is an area where you can take your dog for short walks right across the road. The place is clean, well equipped, bed is comfy (best night's sleep according to my husband), hosts are friendly. I would definitely go back.

Thank you for the lovely stay

We had a lovely stay at Lake Haven! Thank you, Dave and Kathy, for being the best hosts! They provided us with gluten free and diary free options, better internet access, and basically whatever we needed. We brought our puppy with us for the first time and she loved the place as well! The fenced courtyard is perfect for pets and children. Thanks so much again for your hospitality!

Nice little hideaway

The hosts were very respectful and helpful. The apartment was cosy, clean, and well appointed. I really appreciated the sparkling wine in the fridge. The coffee maker was brilliant and has made me want to buy one. You have an outside area all to yourself and a pool and sauna to use. Thank you, Kathy, and Dave, for a lovely getaway. Yvonne

Wonderful Stay

We all really enjoyed our stay at Lake Haven Escape. Dave and Kathy were very welcoming and happy to help us if we needed anything. The apartment was nicely laid out and very clean and tidy. Good selection of movies and activities that they provided. Great to have cooking faclities within the room as well. There was a nice little courtyard for our dog to run around too. Highly recommend if needing somewhere to stay around that area. Will definitely be going back if we pass through again.

Home and entertainment

Too much fun in the house: gym, pool, swimming, spa. It's a good holiday way without Wifi. Just when we arrived, we found a few of dog poo, it was a extra job after we had a long trip. All in all ,it should be a nice stay, lower price and interesting entertainment.

Great dog-friendly stop-over

This was very suitable for a young family with a dog. We needed to book a one-night dog friendly stop-over as we travelled up the coast and were fortunate to get this accommodation. Note that the second queen bed is actually the couch which folds out to make a bed. It's a bit squeeky and makeshift but it did the trick for our 2 young children and it was wonderful to have somewhere we could stay with our dog. Fully enclosed yard too. Kids loved some time playing the Nintendo Wii.

What no tt to look for

Not impressed i was not expected to arrive at that date and time, room fixed in a hurry, pool not ckean amsnthinga growing at the bottom, spare game room only one wuth aircond but main room just a fan good luck with 35 C..not clean to standards first time experienced since travelling.

The pool area is dirty with junk around it, the spa looked very old and worn, the umbrella's were torn and in disrepair. The 1 time we did go to use the pool their large dog was locked in the pool area and no-one was home. Because we were never told anything about the dog etc we didn't feel we should go in. The games room was a total mess with junk everywhere, gym equipment, loose wires and was more like a storage room. The unit was not easy access as was right down the side of the house to a pokey back yard at the back of the property which also had bits and pieces lying around. There was no shelter out the back to sit if it rained and I had specifically asked that question before I booked. Down the side of the unit/house was full of old bricks, rocks, dead palm leaves etc. The unit itself was probably the only part that the photo's were accurate. However, the bench tops were definitely not clean behind the appliances, the outside of the toaster oven was covered in grease, the milk frother had old milk in it, dirty knives in the cutlery drawer, the advertised delonghi nespresso coffee machine was in fact Aldi Kfee brand which did not match our pods. The toilet seat did not fit the toilet properly and made a horrible creak every time you moved. We were also not aware that 4 young kids approximately under 12 would be above our heads stopping, yelling and playing what sounded like video games extremely loudly. The Neighbours next door used horrendous language at each other yelling lots of F & C's (not the owners fault, however did not portray a nice environment). We honestly felt like we were staying in student accommodation that you live in when you first leave home. We booked for 8 nights but only stayed 2 nights. I messaged the owner all of my concerns above with an opportunity to give us a part refund before I write my review however, received no response. I took lots of photo's however, I am not allowed to post them or provide any contact details as proof according to Stayz rules. We are very disappointed as this was our first holiday in 3 years.

No Wi-Fi and no mobile reception

The unit itself was OK. A little bit dated but clean. The bad was OK. During our stay, the weather was overcast with little of rain. After a couple of days the place started to feel damp. To be honest, the owners didn't advertise Wi-Fi. I made a mistake assuming that one hour drive from Sydney in 21st century having a Wi-Fi is given. To make the things even worst, the unit is located under the house so there is no mobile reception. My wife ended up having a few online meetings in a car couple a streets away. I asked for an earlier check-in (which they have accommodated) as my wife had an online meeting. Because of that, the owners knew we would need a Wi-Fi, but they still didn't mention anything until we arrived. If you need a Wi-Fi and/or mobile reception than this is not the place for you.
