Northcote Hill Penthouse — Your Stylish City-Fringe Escape with Unforgettable Skyline Views
Perched atop a modern complex in Rucker's Hill, this one gives you the best of both worlds — a relaxed, light-filled apartment with High Street's cafés, arts and music scene close enough that "just a short stroll away" is actually true, not real-estate code for a 20-minute walk. Step outside and you're moments from good food, boutique shopping, parks and live music, with an easy run into the city whenever you're ready to leave the balcony.
The Space
65m². Two bedrooms, one bathroom, secure parking.
What You Actually Get
Sleeps four across two queen beds, with one splittable into singles on request — handy if the group hasn't quite worked out who's sharing with whom. The kitchen is properly equipped with Miele appliances, and the open-plan living and dining area has floor-to-ceiling windows framing a 180-degree skyline view that does most of the talking for this apartment. The private balcony with outdoor seating is where you'll actually end up most evenings — coffee in the morning, wine at sunset, and a front-row seat as the city lights up. There's a large HD Smart TV, a few games and a book exchange for when you can't be bothered going anywhere, a European laundry with washer and dryer, reverse-cycle heating and cooling, a coffee pod machine, and wifi that won't let you down mid-video call.
The Location, Without the Spin
You're tucked into a quiet pocket just off High Street — close enough to everything, without living on top of it. Award-winning cafés, bars and restaurants are minutes away, along with Northcote Social Club, Palace Westgarth Cinema and a few local live music haunts if you fancy a night out without needing a tram to get there. Northcote Plaza has Coles, ALDI and the rest of the practical stuff sorted, and the Merri Creek Trail is right there if you'd rather trade the espresso for a walk. Tram stops and train stations are an easy walk too, so the CBD, the MCG and Fitzroy are all within easy reach whenever the neighbourhood starts to feel too comfortable to leave.
Where to Eat (We've Actually Been)
Estelle — Northcote's headline restaurant, and it lives up to the reputation. Book ahead on weekends.
Wesley Anne — a relaxed High Street bar that's easy to stay at longer than planned.
Il Melograno — the local gelato stop, and genuinely one of the best in Melbourne, not just the neighbourhood.
Patricia's Bakehouse — good coffee without the fuss, and one of the better-value flat whites on the strip.
Northcote Social Club — live music and a proper night out, when the balcony's had enough of you.
