Private with spectacular views and direct beach access

This is the ideal getaway destination! Urquharts Bay is located near the end of the Whangarei Heads peninsula and is a picturesque 35 minute drive from central Whangarei. The house is in a prime elevated waterfront location with direct access to the Urquharts Bay beach and many popular hiking trails. It is very private and quiet with stunning harbour, mountain and sunset views. The house was recently fully renovated and has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All linen and towels are provided. Pets welcome by arrangement.
Urquharts Bay is safe, sheltered bay great for all water activities and easy for boat launching. You can access some very good fishing spots just 10 minutes from the beach and for those without a boat it's just a short walk along to the Urquharts Bay jetty - another popular local fishing spot. For surfers, Ocean Beach, is only 3 minutes drive away. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards in summer.
Back on land there are numerous walking tracks in the area that showcase the stunning coastal environment. These vary in fitness levels and duration. From Urquharts Bay, you can explore the Smugglers Bay walk and the Peach Cove track or for the more ambitious the 6 hour hike to Ocean Beach. From the property you can also see Mt Lion, Mt Manaia and Mt Aubrey, all manageable walks with breathtaking views of the coastline and harbour.
Tennis racquets are available should you wish to use the local tennis courts. The property has over an acre of gardens which is contained but not fully fenced so please be mindful if you bring young children or a four legged family member, especially as our immediate neighbours have free range chickens. Whangarei Heads is a kiwi sanctuary. Also most of the DOC walking tracks do not allow dogs but they are welcome in Urquharts Bay and Ocean Beach. Urquharts Bay is truly a unique place to vacation and has so much to offer. You can do as much or as little as you like and the weather is rarely an issue.

Since COVID 19 restrictions we have stopped taking instant bookings to allow extra time for cleaning and a longer break between bookings. We will respond to all booking enquiries as a matter of urgency and we also understand that plans can change and so we offer a relaxed refund policy. Travellers who cancel at least 14 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they've paid. If they cancel between 7 and 14 days before check-in, they'll get back 50%.
