Welcome to our vacation home nestled between the whispering pines and free flowing ferns of scenic Mongaup Valley and all conveniently located on the "quiet side" of Swinging Bridge Reservoir where the bald eagles nest. Have the best of both worlds' quiet tranquility and a short drive to all that the Catskills Mountains has to offer.

Enter through the bright and spacious kitchen where it's easy to prepare a great meal. Step through the open dining room where an inviting wood burning fireplace beckons you to stay a long time. Enjoy a glass of wine in the lakeside living room surrounded by windows this is a favorite spot in any weather. The game room downstairs is perfect for rainy days or winter nights with-it's full-sized air hockey table, basketball challenge, free play arcade game, and big screen TV with PS4.

The lake outside is the real star relax in the private backyard with fire pit and lawn games. Enjoy the lake with the kayaks, standup paddle boards, and canoe. You can jump, swim and fish all off the private dock. There is also a large hot tub on our new deck take a soak under the stars. Enjoy dining al fresco on our lakeside deck with one of the best views in any season.

Great stay

More than enough room for my friends and I. The property is exactly how the pictures portray and the lake was amazing. Property manager kept in touch and was very helpful with questions I had about the house and local market for supplies. Greatly recommend for large groups that want a relaxing weekend

Family Vacation

Property was clean and had everything we needed. Craig, the property manager, was very friendly and very responsive to our questions. Path to the house is very steep, so maybe challenging for older people. Cars can drive down the path, so that was great for unloading. One area of the dock may be challenging too, but with help, is fine. Water had some algae in it. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable week.

Wonderful lakeside house

We had a wonderful family vacation and enjoyed the use of all the boats. Our kids especially enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards. We had fun relaxing in the large Jacuzzi and sitting around the fire pit at night. The game room downstairs was great, especially the air hockey table. Everything was provided, and in perfect condition. The host was very responsive and even drove over during our stay to give us some more oars! We had a terrific experience and would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing getaway!

Family house in Mongaup Valley

The large house is exactly as decribed. Spacious and very well equipped kitchen allows many.people to work in it at once. Most of thr bathrooms have been remodeled and most of the beds very were comfortable. Sadly, the weather was terrible, with rain most of the time we were there. So the beckonimg lake wasnt used which was disappointing. We were thrre with adults and 2 young chidren ages 7 and 10. Due to the fact there were great arcade games they and the adults were kept occupied. House us perfect for 10 -12 people. We came with a lot of food which was useful as there arent too many restaurants in the area. The host was very responsive to all our needs.

Beautiful Views

We stayed here in October as the leaves were just finishing changing. The house is has beautiful views of the reservoir and valley. It was a very peaceful and relaxing place to spend a weekend. The house was overall clean and well maintained and noone had any concerns sleeping ont he bedding or anything like we've had at other rentals. The grill was on it's way out and tough to cook on, but generally the kitchen and cookign equipment was in good shape. My only two complaints were that there were a lot of cameras in the house and while I understand why their there it is a little uncomfortable to feel like you're being watched in ahouse you've spent a lot of money to stay in. The staircase is also very tight and low and every single guest hit their head at least once on the way up or down. Overall, we'd likely stay again if we want to return to the area.

We were asked to stay at the property next door to the contracted property at the convience of the owned. The owner wanted to book a long term renter for whole month of August. The property we stayed at was very out dated. Bathrooms were old with rusting fixtures and dirty grout. The lower level of the house was dark and smelled of mildew. We were told that a new jacuzzi would be installed before agreeing to switch houses and this did not happen until 2 days before we left. The house over all was large but not very clean. We spent the first 3 hours of our vacation cleaning it. Lake was beautiful and weather was lovely. Craig the property manager was nice and apologized for the house being dirty and said the usual cleaning crew was on vacation. He also allowed us to come up a day early since jacuzzi wasn't there as compensation. He really tried to make our stay better.

Really comfortable place!

This is the most comfortable house I have ever rented (except maybe the memory foam bed which would be fine for most but not my preference) . The living room sofa was an oasis of comfort. We found everything we needed for a week except oven mittens. Loads of towels hidden all over the place. ..we didnt need to wash towels at all, except for the dishtowels . Hot tub was clean and well cared for , bathrooms totally clean, kitchen was clean too. The house and grounds are multilevel and the stairs to the lower level are really steep so this house would not be great for people with mobility issues . The lake was wonderful and warm to swim in and the kayaks were in good condition. Bring your own paper towels and bathroom tissue. There is enough to start but not enough for a large crowd for a week. The deck over the lake is such a peaceful place during the week. It gets a bit loud from the motorboats on the weekend but it was fun watching all the water skiiers. My favorite spot was morning coffee on the gliider on the level of the hot tub and grill. oh yeah and Craig was really responsive and helpful. Its a winner!

Perfect for our multi-generational family escape. We loved it!

This Swinging Bridge lakehouse was perfect for our multi-generation, multi-family vacation. We ranged in age from 9 to 78, and we all had a marvelous time. The 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms were an important factor in choosing this property. The kids enjoyed playing air hockey, foosball and the other "arcade" games in the game room. The lake was wonderful, and the younger generations loved the kayaks and stand up paddle boards. All the swimmers were in the water every day. The fire pit provided a lot of evening entertainment, and we really appreciated the s'more fixings left for us as a welcome gift. The hot tub was fun, although we did not use it often. Craig Altman was very easy to work with, and very responsive. The only reason I am giving this property 4 stars, instead of 5, is because it was not quite as "senior friendly" as my husband and I had hoped. The driveway is a bit steep, but completely manageable. The walk down to the lake was ok as long as we took our time. And once we made it down, the gazebo area was perfect. We played many board games there and happily watched those who were in the lake. We all loved the porch and spent many hours just hanging out there. For my husband and I, getting down to the dock and then to the beach was challenging, but I was able to do it every day. Only my husband passed on this last step. The fishing was lots of fun for the grand kids and our "kids", all in their 40s. They bought fishing licenses on line, and poles at the nearby Walmart. And caught fish every day. Most days were declared "catch and release" days, but we enjoy some wonderful fresh fish dinners, as well. Our grandchildren are already lobbying for a return next summer.

Wonderful time!

We had a wonderful family vacation at the lake house! The home offered plenty of room for our family of 7. My kids loved the bunk beds and game room. We spent all day out on the lake. Having private dock access was great. We enjoyed swimming and using the kayaks and paddle board. We definitely would love to book again!

Wonderful vacation house!

This is a beautiful home, perfect for a large family group. Plenty of room and set up well. The games room, kayaks, and hot tub were in great shape. Fire pit and firewood for s'mores. Tons of outdoor seating. We had a great time. The downsides are that the lower floor bedrooms have a musty smell, and the lake is not good for swimming due to frequent boat traffic on the narrow lake and questionable water quality (heavy algae blooms). If a group had small children, they might want to know that this property does not have a sandy or protected wading/beach area and is not the best for little kids.

Nice week in NY for all ages

Went to this home for a week in August on a family vacation (ages 10-82.) Everyone enjoyed the hot tub, air conditioning, game room, and proximity to some lakeside lounging. Bedrooms were comfortable and we loved having personal bathrooms. The walk to the water is quite steep which was a little bit of a struggle for the grandparents in the group. The pictures do show an accurate trip down to the water. Not knowing the area, I underestimated the pitch from the water to the house and up to the street. The indoor stairs, and the stairs and ramp to the dock were also steep - fine for our younger guests, but be mindful for folks with mobility or balance limitations. We were a little bummed that the reservoir was pollen-covered and murky. We had been looking forward to swimming. However- we enjoyed using a paddle board and kayak. Great house and lake to bring a boat! Neighbors were enjoying pontoon boats and water skiing/wake boarding all week. (The hot tub was a fun swimming substitute!) Kitchen is well stocked with tools for basic cooking. Super convenient location to groceries, farm stands, a farmers market on Thursdays, and really great BBQ. We grilled and ate on the deck overlooking the lake. The large living room was perfect to pile onto the comfy couch to watch the Olympics and movies on rainy nights. Good communication up to and during our stay. Thanks!

Amazing family vacay

My sister and I (with our families) came to get away and spend quality time for a couple of nights after Thanksgiving. It was the perfect stay!! So much room for all of us. Most bathrooms have been renovated from the pics. Great game room. The lake was so peaceful. Great family trip!!!!

Woodland escape

The eight of us, all family, enjoyed the location on the pond. A few hiked, some kayaked, and we all enjoyed the view. The week after Labor Day meant peace and quiet which we really enjoyed, too.

The Hudson Valley and foothills of the Catskills offer a wide variety of outdoor adventures, scenic vistas and culinary experiences.The Lakehouse is situated just minutes from the world renowned Bethel Woods concert venue, Monticello Raceway, mind body and spirit massage and yoga retreat center (ask about in home treatments) and has assembled a variety of activities within the confines of the property. Lake it is only a 90 min drive from NYC and an hours drive from Stewart International Airport, allowing you to be in another world with an easier pace and in a natural and relaxed setting in a matter of minutes..

What makes this property unique

Our house offers such a wide a variety of recreational experiences one could simply stay within the limits of the house, yard and lake to find the adventure of a lifetime. For those who care for motorized lake sports the far end of the lake abounds, for a quieter and slower pace one can enjoy the nearby dead end of the lake for a day of fishing and relaxing. There is also much to be seen in and around the region and always something to be left for the return trip to our lakefront paradise. Hudson river walkway, Mohonk Mountain Preserve, Minnewaska hiking trails and many other historic places are within an hours drive.
