About this property
CHERRY STREET BUNGALOW!! 3BR, 2 BA. Walk score 88/100
This 3 BR 2BA Cherry Street bungalow is at a prime location within historic Swan Lake neighborhood. Dozens of shops and restaurants are within a 5-10 minute walk and virtually all of Tulsa is within a 15 minute drive.
Accommodation: The 1920's bungalow has an open floor plan with seated dining, large, seated kitchen island and spacious, fully-equipped kitchen. The master suite has a comfortable king bed, walk-in closet and master bath. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and dresser. Bedroom 3 has 2 twin beds (or queen bed can be substituted) and dresser. A semi-private, landscaped backyard has a fire pit area with a circle of seating and a flagstone patio area with a dining table and chairs. A Weber Grill is available for outdoor grilling.
Swan Lake is a friendly, safe and walkable neighborhood. It’s been like this since the 1920’s!
- Morning and evening walks are a popular neighborhood activity. Runners and bikers wind through the neighborhood heading towards river parks. Having a morning coffee on the wraparound front porch is a relaxing and good way to say hello and wave to passers-by. Or… relax in the backyard and take in the morning sun, or the cool shade of the evening.
-Try a short walk for morning coffee or tea at Summer Moon or Coffee House on Cherry Street (aka CHOCS) are a 5 minute walk and has sweets, breakfast and sandwiches. Other good options are Summer Moon Pink Easy Tea House, Pony coffee and Double Shot.
-Dining out? Good luck deciding! There are over 20 restaurants to choose from within a 10 minute walk. Fine dining to fast food. Here are some of my favorites: Nolas Creole and Cocktails, Smoke Woodfire Grill, Kilkenny’s Irish Pub with authentic Irish dishes, Hideaway Pizza, Sapori Italian, Hole Mole, Roosevelts (good food and beer selection), Prossimo Ristorante (fine Italian), Andolini’s Pizza, Lofi (record spinning with specialty pizzas and cocktails) and Roka Asian Fusion (Wednesday all day specials). For after dinner or daytime sweets try Rose Rock Creamery, Crave cookies or CHOCS (again). Many of the above restaurants also serve wonderful breakfasts. To experience a true neighborhood bodega, take a 15 minute walk to Maple Ridge Grocer for breakfast, then walk along the Midland Valley Trail to…
The Gathering Place, USA Today’s #1 City Park for 2024. Gathering Place is a must see park for all day fun with age specific playgrounds, sport courts, skating park, running trails, biking trails, kayak shoot…..just go. For hiking and mountain biking, head to Turkey Mountain. For longer bike rides and runs, check out the Riverparks Trails System (adjoining The Gathering Place). Woodward Park Gardens, Guthrie Green and Philbrook gardens are worth a visit. It’s a 10 minute walk to Swan Lake Park and the private elementary school one block away allows neighborhood families to utilize its playground. The playground has swings, slides, turf area and a basketball court.
-Nightlife! Most of the restaurants have friendly bar seating which I recommend but for a more typical drinking establishments I recommend Sidecar Barley and Rye for its sunset views, Empire Bar (dive) for its sports, especially soccer, Lofi (again), Drakes Tavern, for the classical, shotgun styled bar (smoking, get just one, for the experience) and Cigar Box for a laid back atmosphere with cigars. For late night activities, you probably need to Uber to the Blue Dome district, Tulsa Arts District, Brookside or one of the many casinos. Cherry Street generally gets quiet after 10 pm. For local live music, I recommend The Mercury Lounge (dive bar with nightly/daily music), The Colony (cozy nightly music), the Shrine (regional acts) and Duet (jazz). Feel free to text me for tips. The big venues draw top and rising artist: Cain’s Ballroom (my favorite! Get a tee shirt), Tulsa Theatre (another favorite), BOK Arena and the casino venues.
Museums- Across from Guthrie Green in the Tulsa Arts district are two gems, Woody Guthrie Center and the Bob Dylan Center. Understand Tulsa history through the lens and collections of these artist. Down the street is the Greenwood Rising Black Wall Street History Center. I recommend visiting Greenwood and Bob Dylan Center on the same day. The Philbrook Museum and grounds located nearby have a terrific collection with traveling exhibitions and family friendly events on the lawn. The Gilcrease Museum of western and early American art is currently under construction and expected to re-open in Fall of 2026.
Utica Square is a 20 minute walk and has shopping and multiple dining options. Synagogue, Catholic and Presbyterian churches are within a few blocks. It is 10 blocks to Hillcrest or St. John's Hospital and only minutes to downtown or Arkansas River by bike or car. The location also has easy access to Broken Arrow Expressway and Tulsa highways. There is more to say about Tulsa, but the above is enough to emphasize that this location in Tulsa is truly a one-of-a-kind.

About the host
Hosted by John

I am a Tulsan, through and through. I came to Tulsa to go to the University of Tulsa, graduated, married, grew a family and stayed. My family had deep roots here and now I do.
Why they chose this property
I love this neighborhood and its been part of my life since I was born. My mother grew up within a block of this house and I can see it from the front porch. A friend of mine lives there. My parents met in school just 2 blocks away and were married in the church there. As a military family we made annual pilgrimages back to Tulsa to see my grandparents. I played with my cousins in this neighborhood. This house had been abandoned and neglected for years. I bought it and remodeled it from the studs up. I love it here.
What makes this property unique
Swan Lake is an idyllic neighborhood. It also adjoins Mapleridge neighborhood, who together make up the two classic 1920's neighborhoods of Tulsa, with a nice blend of architecture. The home is within a few blocks of some of the best restaurants of Tulsa and minutes to the best entertainment venues and parks.
