About this property

Beeberry Cottage

Beeberry Cottage is a homey little off-grid log cabin set in the woods of our 100 acre working farm. Spend your time wandering miles of serene wooded trails, feeding the horses, and fishing off the dock.

The cabin is 8 X 12 feet and has an attached 10 X 12 foot covered gazebo for your outdoor enjoyment. It is quite a small and cozy space. There is a tiny wood stove inside for use during colder months to heat the cottage.

The toilet is an outhouse, still a common feature on farms in this area.

For summer cooking, you may prefer to use the BBQ. You can also use the fire bowl for cooking, heating water, and enjoyment. Please use the spark guard when using the fire bowl and do not burn if there is a burn ban in effect (we will give you that information if the Township announces it) Please pay careful attention to details about fire safety before using any of the features.

Water is available via jugs which are refillable at any of the farm water fountains. It is cold, clear, fresh water from our well. The taste can be somewhat mineral for people who are unaccustomed to well water.

Guests can wander the whole farm, use the pond and visit all of the animals. Please ask us to show you how to safely interact with the animals and to show you the electric fence :).

Guests are welcome to visit our tiny farm gate store. We sell eggs, dairy, meat, seasonal vegetables, soaps, honey, syrup, and jams among other items. If we haven't got what you need, we can probably send you right up the road to another farm that has. Thank you for buying from and supporting small farms!

Please consider carefully before booking to make sure a farmstay is right for you. Farmstays are not hotels. The cottage is TINY. There is NO ELECTRICITY and NO RUNNING WATER inside. The toilet is in an OUTHOUSE. The rural location guarantees there will be INSECTS and OTHER WILDLIFE around and possibly indoors if you leave the doors open. There are SOUNDS of wildlife, domestic animals, and other farm noises. We keep BEES and their hives are a few hundred feet from the cottage. The access to the cottage is driving up a GRASS LANEWAY. The cottage is in the FOREST. The BBQ and firepit are located outdoors and may have DUST, POLLEN, or DIRT on them.

Our Favourite Getway
Our perfect getaway! We were looking for something off grid but close to home. Somewhere we could disconnect from our phones (and running water) but not have to set up a tent. This was absolutely perfect! Deborah was the warmest host we've ever experienced, hands down. She made us feel so welcome and explained everything we could do on the property (endless trails, animals to meet, a pond to sit by and more). She gave us insights on where to get good local food and she gave us a delicious jar of honey made from the bees on her property. We are already planning our next trip back. Photos can do this location justice either. Can't recommend this enough. Thank you so much Deborah - we can't wait to come back!

Great for Kids
My son and I stayed here last year and loved it so we came back again this year. Deborah and Eric are great hosts, they are available for support if you need them but will stay out of your way if you want privacy, giving you the feeling that this is a place of your own. Not too far from the city, lots to do, property is well kept and the cabin is tranquil. We love it there.

Great, Rustic Stay
This place is great, but make sure you read the listing carefully. It's very accurate... The place is not big, off-grid with easy access. It makes for excellent car camping. It's not quite as secluded as we'd like, as there's a road nearby and at night you can see lights from the neighbours property. That said, the property is beautiful, and the farm is great to wander.

Great Gateway for Busy People
My husband and I stayed here to getaway from our busy lives for a few days. It was perfect! Quiet and relaxing. Great for people that love the outdoors. Deborah and Eric were very friendly and accommodating.

Host profile image
My husband Eric and I are organic farmers in Ontario, Canada. We are keen to share the healing beauty of farm life with people. We love nature, art, animals, home-grown food, and making new friends.

On our farm, we have horses, chickens, goats, pigs, ducks, honeybees, and turkeys. We grow garden vegetables for sale as CSA shares (Community Shared Agriculture) and at our farm gate stand. We provide retirement board for elderly or injured horses. We are a WWOOF host farm and we enjoy sharing our experience with new farmers and anyone with a passion for organic food.

For more information, find us on social media under Laurenwood Farm.

I feel compelled to add, though it should go without saying: We welcome people from all walks of life, every race and ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender, creed, colour, flavour, you name it. We love all of you humans and you are all important to us.

Thank you and we hope to hear from you soon!
