Host interaction awkward. Host has extensive list of to-do’s from turning on hot water heater to taking our trash to a landfill several miles away. Not as welcoming overall

Yes, we definitely did have an awkward interaction with this guest. We do not have trash collection service and we do not leave the hot water heater on when the property is vacant for a while. All the guests have to do is flip a switch in the utility room. Please read the rest of our reviews.
This property was very nice and allowed comfortable sleeping for several adults and two children. It was well taken care of and offered a nice outdoor seating area for spending time with family in the evening. It is very accessible to the nearby wedding venues, offers short drives to the town center, and is close to several local hikes.
Clean, great location, great property and good communication with the owner. Be aware that this house has no air conditioning.

Thank you for your kind comments. Please note that our house is at an altitude of more than 4,000 ft and we never feel the need for air conditioning. There are fans in every room and with the fans and windows open, the temperature is always pleasant.
Our family really enjoyed our stay. Upon arrival the property was immaculately clean. Everything was as described. The process of arrival/departure was very simple, which we appreciate. The beds were comfy and the linens were high quality. The fireplace was easy to use and made for a very cozy atmosphere. Location was very convenient to town but felt private and tucked away. We hope to visit again in warmer weather to enjoy the beautiful outdoor spaces.
Absolutely the best place ever! The large covered porch & furniture made it hard not to stay outside all hours.
Clean, well appointed. Can’t wait until next year
Our stay in this property was fantastic. There were four adults, one being 81 years old. The two bedrooms upstairs have easy access from the carport with no stairs. The downstairs area is great for children or other adults. Beautiful kitchen opens to the family room and large, relaxing covered porch. Beautiful Flora and Fauna. Only two miles to Main Street Highlands, but far enough away to enjoy the tranquility.
Check in and check out was seamless. The space was clean and definitely fit our needs (3 families), including plenty of patio space outside. We spent a lot time here. The owner/manager was very quick to respond to my questions, and the location was close to downtown.
I do wish the listing was more specific in regards to no A/C and no trash service (visitors expected to transport their trash to discard). Understood it’s 4K feet above sea level so it’s cooler, but I think A/C is an amenity that some come to expect, so be upfront in the listing.
Overall, thanks for the great stay.

Thank you. I have updated the property description to address the issues that you raised.
This house is ideally situated away from hustle-and-bustle of downtown Highlands yet an easy 7-minute drive away from all the restaurants, shopping and other amenities. Best of both worlds.
House is immaculately maintained on an absolutely gorgeously landscaped spacious mountain gardens offering lovely vistas. House is located well away from main roads, allowing children to play outside with little adult supervision. Spacious, well furnished porches enabled memorable alfresco dining with meals prepared in the well-accoutered kitchen.
House was spotless. With a master suite and an additional queen bed, a double twin room and bunk room with a shared bath downstairs, it was perfect for two families with children. The spacious bunk room also provided ample space for children to play so parents could enjoy some much-needed adult time.
Easy proximity to hiking, etc — all the wonderful outdoors activities the area is renowned for. Also, with Highlands Plateau’s famous altitude (4,000-plus feet above sea level), it was a much welcomed respite from Charleston, SC’s summer heat and humidity. We were even able to enjoy a small fire in the fireplace — well provisioned with seasoned fire wood — one evening.
Lovely property. Will definitely make this place an annual tradition.
OMG walked in, soooo clean! Big, spacious kitchen and living room area. We had all our meals outdoors on the lovely porch off the living room. Since restaurants are crowded this time of year and we had grandchildren for a family vacay, we cooked in the large, finely appointed kitchen and, of course, did our share of take out.
The grounds are lovely….big grassy place for tossin’ a foot ball or frisbee, or catching little yard frogs. Nice area to walk; quiet neighborhood. Glenn Falls, just down the road, is a fine hike (my husband and I have done it several times, but even a brave 4 year old can make it to the 2nd falls and back, no problem)
The sleeping arrangements are quite fine! Down stairs has bunks, a blow up mattress, and a private twin bedroom, and a bathroom with shower. The upstairs bedrooms are very comfortable.
Can you tell I really like this place!
I think arriving to sparkling cleanliness, spacious indoors and lovely porches,
Beautifully manicured grounds, all made for a memorable family time.
Can’t wait to go back.❤️
We were in town for our nephew’s wedding at The Farm at Old Edwards. The house was only 3 minutes from the venue, and only 9 minutes from downtown. The house was very spacious and was very comfortable for our group of 6. Kitchen was well stocked and instructions for house were very helpful. Peter was very responsive to any questions we had.
We had a lovely trip to Highlands and really enjoyed the house. We especially loved the cozy deck furniture! The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We like to watch movies on our girls trips and do wish the tv had been a little bigger.
My family stayed in the 140 Lower Carriage Hill cottage for a week in June. The property is extremely clean and well stocked with all necessary items. The location of the cottage is an a very quiet part of highlands, which makes the porches surrounding the cottage enjoyable. Extremely easy to get to town and near sites! Great host and great stay!!! Will definitely be booking again in near future!
We loved this property! The house is perfect for a group, as we were 3 couples! It was very spacious and beds were super comfortable! We loved the openness of the kitchen and living area and the porches were awesome! We will definitely come back to stay!
We had a great time in Highlands...this property was convenient to downtown and so comfortable. Plenty of room, well-stocked, and the fireplace was wonderful! The porches are beautiful, although the weather kept us from fully enjoying those. Thanks so much for sharing your home!
This house was perfectly laid out for our family. Our kids enjoyed the bunk room and the downstairs bedroom. There were board games at the house and a train set in the bunk room, which was a great bonus! The house was very close to town and to Glen Falls, and it had everything we needed!
We had a small family Thanksgiving in this space and it was exactly what we needed. Plenty of room for everyone. Loved the fireplace and the beds were super comfortable.
Such a wonderful house!! Very clean and cozy home. We thoroughly enjoyed the porch. House is convenient to downtown Highlands which is always fun to explore. Would definitely stay there again!

Why they chose this property
We love the quiet peaceful surroundings. We love sitting and relaxing on the porch in afternoons and having dinner outside in the evening. Our grandchildren love to play in the well kept garden. The property is ideally located off the Highlands/Dillard road and is very convenient for town and there are many hiking trails nearby.
