Yes at the time this review was left the area of Lake Lure including the community of Rumbling Bald is most certainly still healing from the most catastrophic weather event in recorded history of WNC. A little online research will quickly inform anyone of that. Context is important when leaving a review. However Rumbling Bald (aside from the lake itself) is open fully for what it offers this time of the year and all restaurants that are normally in Lake Lure are open as well. There is almost NOTHING closed in Lake Lure any longer and Lake Lure is encouraging as much business as they can because of that. A review like this can paint a picture that may not represent what is truly happening and how much recovery has actually taken place. It is clear that perhaps a little research on the area and what this small rural mountain town in the South offers on a normal basis, could go a long way in setting expectations on what dining, activities, and other accommodations might look like when visiting. This is especially true when you consider you only spent 2 days there, the time of year in which you visit, and what its like when a town based on tourism is actively healing from catastrophe. We welcome you to return and give us another try when Lake Lure and Chimney Rock are at full strength so you can really judge the area for what it is meant to be.
