About this property

Historic Cottage in the Heart of Rawene

Fully serviced and equipped waterfront property. 140 yr old kauri cottage. Simple, 'old-style' kiwi bach. All beds will be made and towels provided on the beds and the cottage is fully Serviced.
The cottage has stunning views facing northwest and of the tidal harbour. The cottage is set in the central part of the historic town of Rawene on the Hokianga. It is only minutes away from an award winning cafe, the Boatshed. There is a restaurant at the Hotel, a ferry trip to historic Kohukohu, a small beach, Clendon House - an early European Historic Places house, other historic houses, library and a small super market, whole food and fresh vegetables shop on your door step. The cottage has just finished building a new bathroom with walk in shower and a new separate toilet, there is also a bath, plenty of hot water, deck chairs, deck, fridge, stove, washing machine, all the required essential kitchen gear and a garden suitable for tents. Please note: it is an 'old fashioned and simple family bach'- there is no TV, microwave or wifi. Furniture is 'eclectic' but very comfortable.
There are many activities available like kayaking and windsurfing from the front garden ( 2hrs either side of high tide ) fishing, golf, horse riding. With a 15 min drive you have sandboarding at Opononi and 30min drive you are at the Waipoua forest and visit Tane Mahuta the 'largest' Kauri tree. Finally you are 45min drive to the Bay of Islands ( Pihia and KeriKeri )
