Welcome to The Mist a Spot at Sound Sea by KEES Vacations!

If you're interested in a laid-back vacation by the beach, then Duck in the Outer Banks is a hard spot to beat! It's a town which is revered for its small-town atmosphere, family businesses and relaxing environment. Perhaps the greatest example of this is the Duck Boardwalk, featuring a plethora of small businesses, quaint shops and gorgeous views of the Currituck Sound.

Just as the town is ideal for relaxation, The Mist a Spot is the same way! Our commitment to comfort and a quality experience has led to numerous upgrades to the home. These include new, luxury vinyl plank flooring as well as beach-inspired paint schemes. The first level bathroom has been updated with ship-lap walls, tile flooring, a modern vanity, and bath fixtures. The kitchen has been refreshed with painted cabinets and open shelving. The second level features a King En Suite bedroom and another bedroom with double twin beds, and the bottom level features an additional two queen bedrooms as well. Each level also comes equipped with a full bathroom.

The Mist a Spot also offers a variety of conveniences that add to the OBX vacation experience. An outdoor shower is available for washing away the sand and saltwater, and gas and charcoal grills are available for picnics and family gatherings afterward! An in-home washer and dryer are also available to make sure your clothes stay clean, and the KEES full bedding package means that your group will always have a comfortable place to retreat to after a long day of adventure and relaxation. Sound Sea Village is a community that holds high standards for the enjoyment of its guests and residents, and, since the home is pet friendly, even the furry friend of the group can get in on the vacation experience!

Fantastic rental

Very impressed by Mist-A-Spot! Clean, roomy, right down the street from the beach, close to town and yet it felt very private. Great location for a family trip - highly recommend.

Great location!

Very short walk to the beach! Nice bedrooms with tvs in each room. Very cool hangout underneath the main floor.

A hidden gem

The photos and description really don’t do this place justice. It is beautifully decorated, in a quiet neighborhood with a two minute walk to the pretty beach. The owners have made such efforts to consider the comfort of the guests. Lots of outdoor seating areas, very comfortable beds in all the rooms. Comfortable sofas and chairs.Plenty of towels and storage. We’ll be back again for sure, but a longer stay next time.

Such a lovely home. Beautifully decorated, well appointed, so many cozy nooks (indoors and outdoors) to relax and play. Short walk to the beach. Quiet neighborhood and a short drive to anything you need. We loved it!

This is a beautiful home! The house is comfortable, clean, perfectly decorated and has everything we could have needed! The beach is only a very short walk away and made it convenient to go back and forth several times each day. The location is perfect for a short drive to dinner or shopping in either Duck or Corolla. Plenty of space in the home to spend time on rainy days playing board games, watching movies or hanging out in the lower level outdoor area playing corn hole. Unfortunately the fire pit didn’t work so that was disappointing. But, I would definitely recommend this house as a perfect place to stay and would love to return some day!

Great Accommodations !

This property matched the needs for hosting a multi-generational family beach get together. Beach access was relatively easy. The ground level with decking floor with seating was open and quite useful. The bean bag and old foosball table helped entertain children while the open area facilitated a three year old’s use for his trucks! Thanks!

Outer Banks Vacation

We enjoyed the house and appreciated the recent renovations, (decking, interior updates, etc.), and the recreation area beneath. The neighborhood was mostly quiet and the walk to the beach was not too long. The house was the right size for us, (4 adults and 2 children). Our interactions with KEES were pleasant, helpful and timely. All in all a very nice week.

An Amazing Week at Mist a Spot

First of all, I love the post on words in the name of this beautiful home. The weather was perfect, the house fit our family if 8 exactly as we’d hoped, and the house was well appointed. The soap dispensers didn’t work, but the management team did come to check on them. They will likely be fixed for the next guest, and we had our own so it was fine. We were staying the week to celebrate our cousin’s wedding, and my uncle/aunt’s beach house was literally across the street. It was so much fun, and I highly recommend this home.

Great place, but some shortcomings

The house is great for a family beach vacation, with a well stocked kitchen and a great outdoor hangout spot. The location is unbeatable. A few things to note: Photos are wide angle in the listing pictures and the living room is actually quite small, as is the dining table. 4 people can eat together, but definitely not 6. We were mostly outdorrs during the vacation though, so this wasn't a huge issue. The rental company is extremely stingy with their "linens package." This means one tiny bath towel, hand towel and washcloth per person. No kitchen towels, no beach towels, and no extra sets, even if you come with an infant. The rental company is also quite stingy with other necessary household items, like dish soap, paper towels and toilet paper. Just expect to pay premium grocery store prices in the outer banks to stock up on what you will need for a week long stay. Expect to rent or bring beach chairs, umbrellas and other beach items if you need them. There are a few old chairs on the property but nothing else. And the local rental places sell out in advance, so book them ahead of time.
