This place was perfect for our short weekend trip, it had everything we needed along with being super clean and just a couple steps to the water which was amazing! I will definitely be renting from here again in the future!
The house could use a few updates such as darkening curtains in the bedrooms, better pillows (way too flat). Ceiling fans are a must especially in the bedrooms. The location which is right across the street from the beach access is great.

Adorably perfect house with AMAZING beach access!
Beds were so comfy, easy entry into the house and wonderfully setup! Quick access to the beach made this vacation incredible! With small kids we could run back for anything we needed within a minute or two! Communication with the owner was great! Zero complaints! We will 100% be back!
The house was great and very close to the beach! It worked well for our family! The only thought is that the kitchen be equipped with more utensils and dishtowels. Thanks!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The location was exceptional, offering convenient access to the beach, which was a highlight of our trip. The listing and photos accurately represented the property. However, I would suggest some interior updates, as certain elements, such as the blinds, were damaged, and the furniture appeared dated. Additionally, improved sound insulation and a thorough deep clean would enhance the overall experience. For those seeking a comfortable place to stay while spending most of their time at the beach, I would certainly recommend this property.
Very basic amenities. Only 1 TV in the entire home. No ceiling or tower fans. Mattresses on beds were not adequate. Internal blind in a bedroom door would not fully close. Home is in a good location. Easy check-in.
Other than lack of TP and paper towels, I’d totally go back. The house is open and very comfy. The bed I slept in was amazing. Back bedroom, right hand side. What kind of mattress or topper is that?? We had a great time. Great location in reference to the beach.
This house was great for us! We had 3 kids ages 4 and under and 4 adults. There was plenty of room. The beach access is right across the street! We loved spending time on the front deck and enjoying the ocean view. The property manager was great to work with. He was able to get us an early check-in and late check-out. AND we thought we had left something behind and he was good enough to double check the house for us. Great customer service! The one thing I would note that I didn't notice in the listing is there is no dishwasher. We would stay here again!
Overall had a pretty good experience at this stay! The location is great, being right across from the public access and not far from restaurants and Publix (about 10 min). Pleased that towels and sheets were provided but make sure to bring your own comforters and blankets. At check in we had some issues with our codes to get in but that got sorted out fairly quickly. There was plenty of silverware and dishes as well as other small appliances like a toaster and coffee pot. The house was a little hot at night because the thermostat kept going back to a preset temp and there’s no fans in the rooms so if you get hot I would suggest bringing a fan with you but overall this was a great spot for our family of 5!
We had a wonderful time at this property. It was very clean and check in was a breeze. Communication with the host was quick and friendly. They even texted to tell me it was ready early. The AC on very hot days worked great, the WIFI was speedy, and the beds were comfortable. Access to the beach was across the street! One surprise was that there was no dishwasher. (It was not in the listing, I made the mistake of assuming it would be there.) While it was manageable for 4 people, 6-8 might have made keeping up with the dishes more burdensome. The front porch was right in the afternoon sun, so not very appealing in the heat. The place could use a bit of updating, and the interior was sparse, but it was very comfortable. A perfect place for our long weekend.
Myself, 2 sisters and a friend stayed at "The Shellington" for a few days this week and it was lovely. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. It had a basic open layout of kitchen/dining/living area with a hall running through the middle. There were two bedrooms and a bath on each side. It was perfect for us! We could see the ocean from the deck and the beach access was just across the street to the left. A short walk. We will definitely remember this place and go there again. And Sebastian was a phone call away. The keypad didn't work the first time we tried it, so I called and he reset it. We got right in and he was very accommodating. We had a great time!

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
Poor cleaning service.
During our stay we had to clean before we could even unpack. The floors were still covered with sand and dirt. Under all furniture was absolutely disgusting!!! The showers still had soap stains and sand in the bottom of the tubs. Taking my child into such a nasty environment away from home was not comforting at all and took away from our vacation having to do the work that someone else should have done. You can’t check in until 4 and have to leave by 10am. There should be no excuse for the house to still be filthy. I do not recommend staying here for the price and filth. The location was nice. The railing on the home is NOT safe for children at all. The spaces are so large your child would fall a whole story if you weren’t careful.

Hi Autumn, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, and the homeowner would like to share the following:-Unfortunately, had we been made aware upon your arrival that the cleaning did not meet your expectations, we would have promptly contacted the cleaners for immediate rectification. Subsequent guests, including those following your stay, have consistently affirmed the cleanliness of the property upon their arrival. We have recent photographs of the house taken after the most recent cleaning.-Regarding the spacing between the deck spindles, measurements were taken following your concern. While the property is older, we are actively working to enhance safety by modifying the decking. It's important to note that the spacing exceeded safety requirements by half an inch, and we've had numerous children, including our own, safely enjoy the deck. Nevertheless, supervision of children on the second-story deck is important.-Having provided both our contact number and email, we regrettably did not receive notification of any issues during your stay. It was only a week after your departure that we became aware of your concerns. Our commitment to providing an exceptional stay remains steadfast, and we eagerly anticipate hosting many more satisfied guests.
We had a marvelous time but there’s always room for improvement. I would recommend this place but love to give a little constructive criticism:
1. There should be at least 2 additional rolls of toilet paper in both bathrooms. We had to buy ours.
2. There should be a broom and dustpan to sweep off small crumbs off the floor, especially in the kitchen. We love to clean after ourselves.
Family vacation on Oak Island. First time. Previously in Outer Banks and Kure/CarolinaBeach. Best assets were proximity to beach, front deck and ample parking. Apparently recently acquired and “renovated” for vacation season. Quickly Painted panel walls, low grade laminate flooring , dated bathrooms and furniture are only criticism. B-. Priced for value renters.
Better upgrades +/- pool might make this a spectacular property. Far fewer restaurants and shops compared to other beaches in N. Carolina.
We enjoyed our vacation this year to Oak Island. The home was just as described. Clean and super close to beach access. I only wished the outside shower was private so we could have showered off outside but other than that we loved the location and the home. Would definitely recommend. If you plan on cooking a lot of meals I would suggest making sure you have your own pots as the ones provided were very small. But that is my only complaint.
We are cooks and this was definitely not a cooks kitchen! Especially with no dishwasher. It was a great location, we were comfortable and had a great week.
Perfect place 5 minute walk from the ocean. Clean, tidy, comfortable, a friendly family neighborhood.
About 20 minutes from the Southport Ferry, much less time to eating places and grocery stores.
We had a great stay at this wonderful home with our family! It was cozy and spacious, and only a short short walk to the beach access which was great. We will definitely keep this house in mind for our next visit to Oak Island!
